OVERVIEW

A great beginner's guitar built for ease of playability.

The Rocketeer RR100 electric guitar is Rogue's take on a classic design, built for ease of playability. It is constructed with a lightweight contoured double-cutaway paulownia body. The ultra-thin, comfortable maple neck makes it easy to fly up and down the 22-fret rosewood fingerboard. The humbucker/dual single-coil pickup configuration with a 5-way switch allows for a wide variety of tones. A 6-screw vintage tremolo lets you have tons of whammy bar fun, while the Rogue Rocketeer's die-cast tuners ensure solid tuning stability. Guitar case sold separately.

Check the drop-down menu to the right to select colors and/or other options.

This is a great guitar for a beginner or someone who wants to experiment or use it as a base for a custom guitar. The neck is very nice and would cost more than the guitar if you had to buy it alone. The humbucker is pretty good, and the singles are okay. The factory left some dust under the covers in the back, but that was easily cleanable. I used the stock strings for awhile, but I can say it plays one heck of a lot better with some Ernie Ball Stalinless Steel Super Slinkys. There is a bit of noise when the tone adjustmnet is set all the way clockwise, but you can get new pots cheap or just don't peg the pot all the way.The tremolo is fun, but after I used it for awhile, I locked it down by tightening all the screws as much as possible at the neck end of the bracket, add a block in back, and then reset the intonation. This thing stays in tune just fine!I did have to adjust the intonation which arrived with no adjustment at all, and I did a slight tweak to the neck, but it was pretty good to start with. Instructions for setting the intonation are available in many places online. If you are handy, you can do the tuneup yourself. If not take it to a shop as many do with far more expensive guitars. If it is for someone who will not stick with it, you will save some dough. Someone who really wants to learn will find it adequate with some adjustment. And others will buy it for some useful and decent parts to build a custom axe. The volume and tone knobs are real nice and would run $10-$20 alone, and again the maple and roswewood neck is very nice. The frets were finished better than a comparable Fender I had and many others I've seen. The finish on the body is pretty nice, but I think I am going to strip mine and refinish it someday, or maybe redo the body altogether. The decription does not mention that it comes with a hookup cable. Mine was so noisy, I just threw it away. I had ordered one with the guitar not knowing it came with one. I'd order one anyway. Some people might think it is the guitar causing the line noise, when it is in fact, the cable. Also, get a Fender Mustang I if you don't have a decent amp. It is well worth it and makes this guitar sound really good; much better than the 10W or 15W units that come in guitar packs for just a little more money. There is little else that comes in packs that's worth it which the possible exception of a stand and picks, which should not be a real consideration. You can get better tuners and straps if you just do some research.I think I read somewhere that a pro band buys lots of these to smash during their act. That also means they use them to play their songs.

Great little guitar for the price

I normally play acoustic/electric but needed an electric for a few new songs.

I actually don't play in public, a little shy! This guitar also works great either way, out in public or in your home. I have a small music room in my home and enjoy playing this guitar. It's great for the price, looks amazing, well built. You just can't beat this guitar.

Comments about Rogue RR100 Rocketeer Electric Guitar:

This is a fantastic guitar. I plugged this guitar into my amp and compared it to my other electrics (EPH Les Paul Jr, Stratocaster, Telecaster) and only my Telecaster sounded better. And that telecaster has some special pickups so for just being stock, this Rogue competes.

Forget about brand and the amount you're paying, this guitar is legit. The finish on the guitar is nice, the setup out of the box was on point as was the intonation.

This guitar is a steal. I definitely would recommend this to anyone.

A Surprisingly Good Guitar For The Price

Comments about Rogue RR100 Rocketeer Electric Guitar:

When I first started playing, inexpensive guitars were basically cheaply made and difficult to play. Today, that is not always true. This guitar was a surprise, as it is pretty nicely made for the price. The finish was well done with no flaws that I could find.(I got the blue one, which is actually more of a dark purple color, which is OK with me). The neck has a nice feel, it reminds me of a Hagstrom II that I had years ago. I did not have to adjust the neck. I understand not everyone has had this problem with these models, but the one I received had very sharp fret ends that had to be filed. Once that was done, the neck is fine.
The electronics are OK, and the range of tones are pretty good with the 5 position switch and tone control. I have not changed the strings yet, they are OK for now. The tuner screws needed to be tightened up a bit, after playing it for a few days, it seems to hold a tune pretty well. The only other thing that needed to be addressed was a loose input jack.
While not a Strat, this guitar is very good for the price, even more so if you get one while on sale. If you don't mind dealing with a couple of potential issues such as the sharp frets, this guitar is a worthy addition to your collection.

Comments about Rogue RR100 Rocketeer Electric Guitar:

Needed a lot of fret leveling but made a decent player afterwards. I bought on sale and didn't really expect much. The pickups are muddy compared to a higher end guitar and the tuning machines are not great but get the job done. The neck is really quite nice - really. I use it for bottleneck slide in open G and it works fine for that. If you have realistic expectations you will probably be happy w/this one too.

I have been playing for many years, but I will never be a pro or play for an audience. I strictly play for my own enjoyment and stress relief. So it does not make sense for me to buy an expensive instrument. This rogue guitar is well made and certainly suffient for my needs. Nice finish and pretty much playable rightout of the box.

If I had a guitar like this one when I started to learn to play? It would have been a lot easier, and I would have learned faster.
What I started out with, cost much more than this guitar and the strings so high it hurt the fingers to play.
So I didn't practice as much and long as I would have if I had this guitar.

Comments about Rogue RR100 Rocketeer Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar for my son, knowing that he may or may not stick with playing guitar. But, I have been playing for many years and was surprised at they high level of quailty of this guitar. The neck has this natural finish on its back that I like a lot. It feels fast, I do not favor the high gloss finishes on necks of some guitars.

Then the pickups sounded good, better than the stock ones of other starter models.

The finish looks really nice, a deep blue with a hint of purple.

The main surprise was when I checked the 12 fret harmonics and those were in tune!

The downside is that they used thin fret wire, so experienced guitar players will feel awkward. For a beginner, they probably will benefit from needing a lighter touch to fret. For this reason, I would not consider it a practice guitar for an experienced player. But if this guitar had med jumbo or jumbo frets...

There is a designed gap between the fretboard and the body at the 22 fret that looks awkward but hey, look at the price point.

In all, as I tested it I kept telling my wife how much quality our son will get for what we paid. Definitely a huge bang for the buck.
