I bought this guitar for my wife for her birthday, and she loves it! I have played guitar for 15 years now, and she has always expressed interest in playing, and from time to time picks my guitar up (which is another model by Rogue) and plucks and chords around. However, being slightly smaller framed than I am, she has to stretch out a bit to get to the first few frets.
With this guitar, which is only slightly smaller than my full size, fits her great. It's comfortable for her, made with great quality and care, and best of all it doesn't look like a toy. I am also a full size man, and it is comfortable for me to play to. I'd recommend this to almost any slightly smaller size framed person in a heartbeat. It plays well, comfortable action, and incredible sound quality!

Pay for the next Rogue up and right now it is the same price and the one above it is a dreadnaught and it survived a tour in Iraq and is now used in a church in Uganda. Awesome piece of art.
It's that, a starter guitar. Like the other raters said, some got good action some don't. I ordered two, one had good action, the other did not. I now see cracks in the back finish giving the impression it is not solid wood or plywood even, it is particle board and veary easy to break. Both guitars have chunks broken out of the back of the guitars and hardly even used. I put them in my classroom and my students are rough on them, but one looks like it was kicked, but I didn't see it. The back of the guitar is fragile and proven when a chip broke off the back of the second guitar with just playing for five minutes. The students are afraid to play them because they fear getting blamed for the crumbling backs.
CHeap is cheap and these are cheap. I had a Rogue guitar free with guitar strings and thought these were like that one, but not so.
High action and fragile wood.

Comments about Rogue Starter Acoustic Guitar:

Rogue is the new Stella! Back in the 1920's and 1930's, the old birch-bodied Stella guitars were the main staple of the hobo bluesmen of the Mississippi Delta. The Rogue Starter Acoustic is its contemporary cousin! Althouth made in China, it has a remarkable sound for being an inexpensive instrument. The action is high enough for bottleneck work, but not so high as to make finger-style uncomfortable. And it even comes with Martin strings! This is a great campfire guitar, and will be at home in any hobo jungle or juke joint. For the musician that can't afford a Taylor or a Martin, grab a Rogue and never look back! You'll be glad you did.

This was a gift for my granddaughter. I had ordered the wrong color, no problem, was helped & walked thru everything to return & receive another color. Have never experienced the helpfulness with another company as I received with Musican's. I appreciate your thoughtfulness very very much. FYI: so glad I found out about your company on the web.

Comments about Rogue Starter Acoustic Guitar:

It's first of all its cheap and a starter guitar I bought for my daughter.I am a firm believer you start cheap and work your way up to a taylor,Martin, and so on. The tuning thing I'm not going to worry about and haven't had an issue yet with, I'm not worrying about it because it's a good way to teach her how to work a tuner and tune it herself. The sound is remarkably good for the price durability it seems like it could also take a few knocks. It has a good look and if I would of bought it for a traveler use its something im not going to hulk out in frustration if a cataclysmic event occurs. The bottom line is for the money I dare you to find better a better acoustic that you're child can learn on or that you can use on an impromptu camping/float trip. You're not!

Comments about Rogue Starter Acoustic Guitar:

I bought this guitar for my 5 year old daughter as her first guitar. The first one came shipped to me with the headstock cracked. Musicians Friend was great and sent me a replacement with 2 day shopping at no extra cost. The replacement looked great and played great. This guitar is well worth the money and plays and sounds much fuller than more expensive small acoustics I had tried out. The fretboard is painted black, but not that big of a deal since it sounds great. This is a great first guitar and I could see my daughter playing this thing well into her teens. Definitely worth the money and you can't beat free shipping. I bought the pale pink one and my whole family just loves the color. I started playing this little thing to show my daughter and I had a hard time putting it down. It's just a fun little guitar that sounds great!

I got the Walnut and it's very pretty. I got it to be my bonfire guitar. I keep it on a stand at all times so I didn't have to drag out my Martin to pratice at home. It's got a nice sound and with a truss rod adjustment it plays OK too. My youngest cousin loves the guitar, she's 10 and the 7/8 scale fits her hands great. I have recommended this guitar to some friends who are learning just so they can get into it with out breaking the bank.

Was hard to believe you could get a guitar this nice for this price forty nine.00. New strings requires stretching once stretched she stays in tune. Has a nice finish and a good sound for the money. Guitar has a plastic nut and saddle, I am replacing them with a bone nut and saddle to improve the sound. String height was to high but the new saddle and nut will fix this. All in all I am happy with this guitar.

Comments about Rogue Starter Acoustic Guitar:

Bought this Guitar on sale for my wife and I to take on an 8 day canoe trip. My wife was ticked when she found out what I paid for the guitar, "It can't be any good", she says. When we pulled it out of the box we were blown away! Beautiful red sunburst, and the sound was fantastic! It reminded me of a Yamaha classical we used to have. We've had no trouble with it going out of tune often. It ended up being too nice of a guitar to take on our trip, but we had fun anyway. We liked the guitar so much I bought one for my dad, and gave one to my daughter-in-law. I have a nephew that is a bit of a guitar snob, but when he comes over, guess which guitar he reaches for? Yup, my little Rogue beginner! I would definitely recommend this one.

Comments about Rogue Starter Acoustic Guitar:

I bought this guitar about 6 years ago to replace my Martin parlor guitar that was stolen and to have a guitar to carry around in my van and not worry about so much. I can't believe how pleased I've been with it! At the time it was called a Ragtime guitar which I liked and still do - wish they called it this still. It's very well made and I love the sound - excellent craftsmanship! My tuners still work good and the action is still excellent, in spite of the bridge starting to come off just a bit (got it a bit hot more than a few times). This guitar is basically a copy - body and bracing wise, of the classic Gibson Nic Lucas model (as far as I can tell - I compared it's dimensions side by side), and for a fingerstyle and smaller sized guitar it really is excellent - especially for the price. Other differences being it's flat fretboard, laminate top, back and sides and poly finish. Don't believe me? Well you can hear me play "Freight Train" with my own chorus/arrangement (Newman) at youtube with it (link below) and another take of Freight Train there with a Gibson LG-2 of mine and compare. Note - I sanded down the top and sides of mine a bit trying to get more of a woody sound and I think it worked a bit. I also added a youtube link of "Billy from Bodie" a song/video of mine using the guitar with some strumming.

Comments about Rogue Starter Acoustic Guitar:

This guitar sounds really, really good. The box was designed and constructed very well. The neck is comfortable to play, but there is quite a bit of fret buzz and a bizarre dual tone on the B and G strings - like the way a 12-string would sound. But the real killer is that this guitar just cannot stay in tune for more than a couple of minutes at a time. Also, the string compensation is a bit off, so you can get an open string tuning that is on for a while, but once you start playing chords, it's just offensive to the ear. For a real good price on sale, you can get started with something new. But for a bit more, you can buy something used that would be way more enjoyable and less frustrating.
