OVERVIEW

A Stratocaster® Equipped to Drive the V-Guitar category products by Roland.

The Roland GC-1 GK-Ready Stratocaster guitar is one of the V-Guitar Series, an authentic Fender Stratocaster guitar equipped with a special Roland divided pickup with a 13-pin output. The GK-Ready Stratocaster GC-1 can be used with both standard guitar equipment and revolutionary Roland V-Guitar category products like the GR-55 and VG-99.

Roland V-Guitar category products like the GR-55 and VG-99 put the unlimited potential of digital technology into the hands of guitarists everywhere. To harness this power, Roland developed the GK Divided Pickup, a special pickup that allows each of a guitar's strings to be processed independently. Connecting the GC-1 guitar to a V-Guitar System opens up a world of magical music expression to the guitarist, including instant alternate tunings, transforming the guitar sound into another instrument entirely, and much, much more.

As a guitar, the GK-Ready Stratocaster GC-1 is a 100% authentic Fender Strat guitar, with the same legendary sound and feel that players have loved for over 50 years. It features a solid contoured alder body, maple neck (with rosewood or maple fingerboard), three single-coil pickups with 5-way switching, a Fender synchronized tremolo bridge, a 3-ply pickguard, American in-line tuners, and chrome hardware.

Includes gig bag.

Comments about Roland GC-1 GK Ready Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

Excels as a GR / VG synth/modeler controller. I've used the GK-3 pickup with fairly good results but this came set up beautifully for GR-55 and VG-1. I didn't like my old GK-3 pickup set up with it's wire to be taped to the top of the body of my other guitars. I like the more stealth appearance with this guitar controller. I was surprised at how good the Roland Ready Strat was on its own - without the synth capabilities. Features not listed: I'm getting none of the usual Strat noise from any switch position with these pick-ups. The pickups are either noiseless, wired, or shielded to eliminate that usual hum. It feels to have a 9.5" radius neck. I'm use to the 7.5" strat radius - this feels a bit flatter. The fret ends did need dressing as another reviewer noted. Overall, though, it is an excellent Strat.

Comments about Roland GC-1 GK Ready Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I purchased my first RR Strat new in 1995. I liked it so much I bought an other (with some upgrades) used two years ago.

I have been playing guitar for 45 years and think this is, without a doubt the best value in the market place. I own 25 guitars and if I had to keep just one this would be it.

The only thing I had to change was the strings which come med/light out of the box. Anyone who plays synth guitar knows the more mass the better the tracking, so I have been using Fender Stainless Steel 10's, which, when initially done, required a little tweaking in the setup. Other than that one change, the guitar is perfect.

The stock pickups sound fine and have that Stratocaster versatility. Both of my guitars stay in tune well and, also common to Stratocasters, are very comfortable to play.

If you are looking to branch in to synth guitar I would recommend no other guitar (I have played and owned different brands as well)

Neck not aligned with bridge. Strings not spread properly on the nut. Fret buzz, fret are sharp and wider than neck. Need complete rework on set up and finishing.
