Comments about Savannah Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

First off, I replaced the flexible plastic saddle with a custom fit micarta one. Comparing this dread to a couple of Greg Bennetts, a Yamaha FG403, a Collings D1, and a Gallagher, all solid tops, this Savannah, while not having their clarity (not necessarily a bad thing), was smoother with sweet overtones, sounding not unlike a solid top that has opened up. The truss rod needed to be backed completely off, with the included allen wrench, to accomodate the lower tension and clearance of my dropped tuning/low action, as there were some frets that needed levelling, but tensioned with standard tuning and mid action that would probably not be an issue. I tore a patch of varnish from the neck while removing a strip of masking tape from the fingerboard (never done that before), but all in all a serviceable and enjoyable guitar. Plenty of saddle height to work with, and some new strings complete the makeover.
