Schecter 006 DLX Electric Guitar - Got this on a Stupid deal of the day. I've always been an acoustic guitar player but wanted to get a feel for electric. This guitar does not seem to have deep frets so you don't experience the bad intonation from pressing hard like I'm used to on an acoustic with medium gauge strings! I like that. Neck is comfortable. Guitar is going to need some setup, the action is a bit to low out of the box. It is a good looking guitar (I have it in Black), easy play. Great value, if you don't expect it to be perfect right out of the box. The price is right for a beginner. I've not got to play it through a good amp yet as I'm still looking for one. So far I've just played through a Marshall acoustic amp (all I have right now), but the pickups sound fine. Can't wait to plug it into a nice tube amp. For the price, I thought this might be a good one to experiment with coil splitting and such! So far I like what I see.
I ranked this guitar on a totally objective scale, so 2.5 for features means compared to all other guitars.I use it mostly with the 15 watt ibanez tone blaster practice amp (which would be another great buy). Anyway, for a cheap guitar with passive pickups, this is a good deal. I got mine for $220, so the value could be better, but this thing can crunch some low notes and scream some high ones at the level of guitars twice the price. I absolutely love the beefier take on the strat body style, and the deep red finish i have is beautiful against the wood grain.I guess Ibanez now has some guitars near this price range with active pick ups, so definitely shop around, but i am very pleased with this guitar.
For this price it is one of the best guitars you'll find. Only problem I have with it is that it doesn't sound as well clear as I would like it to. It's loud and it sounds nice. Great for punk rock and it sounds great with a distortion pedal. It just gets the job done
I have been playing guitar since 1994, so i know a good guitar when I play one. I bought this online in February of '11. I was looking for something with string thru, tune-o-matic style features with humbuckers. This guitar had everything I was looking for.Though I never had played a Schecter, all of my guitars being Fenders, I was drawn to its appeal. When it arrived in the mail, I was skeptical, until I plugged it up. The tone, sustain, clarity, & ease of play are mindblowing! I cant seem to put it down. I have one in vampire red transparent with black hardware. I run it into a Boss ds1,Boss hm3,Boss rv3, & an Electro Harmonix small clone. Then to a Fender fm 212 combo. This is my favorite set up I've ever used. I'm into many different genres of music, & it handles all of them effortlessly. My favorite band is 311, & I can get real close to Tim Mahoney's tone. In summary, if you want an overall great instrument @ a very wallet friendly price, you should definately buy this.I haven't played my Fenders since I've bought it, & that was 4 months ago.Schecter has the juice. Thats wats up.
This guitar is a great deal! The body is smooth and sculpted very well. I find myself rarely having to tune it after a long stay in its case. This guitar handles drop-D tuning very well unlike some guitars where the string vibrates against frets at that low of tuning. Replacing the strings with Nanoweb strings also makes it sound very good. I've noticed that the guitar also plays very nicely at higher notes and provides more sustain at higher frequencies which is great for solon and jazz guitar. A great buy!
Instead of writing a review after ten minutes of playing, I have had this guitar for over a month or so and given it enough playing to need a string change. Out of the box, tuning and intonation were almost perfect, low action was great with no buzzing. After a month, everything has stayed in tune as much as some of my more expensive string-thru's. The tone is really what has surprised me though. I feel like these are Duncan pup's I have thrown in, not stock. Smoother sound and clearer treble than a lot of budget buckers in my opinion; reminds me of the warmth from a PRS. As far as features, it's 2.5 not because of anything bad, but because it's average! Nothing fancy, nothing terrible; everything you'd expect. Overall I think I have fancied this inexpensive little ax over some of my more expensive fancier guitars.
I didn't expect much for the price, but I was blown away. As soon as I pulled it out of te box, I was impressed. Amazing finish and body. I love the neck and the action. The set up and pick-ups are incredible. It feels like I'm playing a PRS. I play a lot of guitars ranging from Fender Teles to Ibanez ART guitars, and this one really shines. The sound is really dirty and and beefy, love the tone. If you're thinking on getting one just do it!
this guitar is like a chrysler car,in that you get a lot of value for a little money.
i am a short timer as far as playing goes, but a master of knowing what turns me on.i bought this guitar online 6 years ago,and found it to be ok,but needed something.i swapped out the humbuckers for a pair of seymour duncans, lowered the action, and played a thicker guage string.now i had something!!!!! i went out shopping at a few guitar shops in my city, and came across a terry corso,(ALIEN ANT FARM), designed 006.way different, mahogany body, set mahogany neck,EMGS,split coil, and sustain, and gain through the roof.i sold mine to buy the corso, and decided i shouldn't have,as i would have used it as a more than adequate back-up.
we played out one night and met the regional rep from schecter.i had a stock 006 as a back up which right out of the box played great.i made only one change to this new guitar......i had a custom paint job put on it.after talking to the rep for a while ,he asked both of us guitarists what other models we own, owned,or have played.i had a c-1 plus elite, and a pt project, and at that time schecter was pushing the avenger.joey, our other guitarist had a white c1 hellraiser floyd rose, which he loved.he bought a used c1 plus as a back up,and used my 006 on occassion.so the rep....lets name him paul, asked me if i would play a strat through our next set if i had one?at the time i had never owned a fender, not gutsy enough,i always felt,so i said no.he asked to see our rigs, and after looking them over ,invited the band out to his rent-a-van.he laid a load of swag on us......t-shirts ,hoodies, hats, belts, etc.,then he came out with a prototype 006 ,with trans -paint,full body binding, abalone everywhere,EMG 81,AND 85,BLACK HARDWARE,grovers, ste neck, mahogany body, and asked me to play a song or two next set.it was an amazing guitar that never made it to market.last summer i bought a 006 from a distributor friend i know, and i left this one stock as well.i use it mainly for practicing down tune, and recording.it really has guts and sustain.i overlooked the quality schecter puts into the mid priced models, and am now enjoying that quality.
musicians friend is offering this model in satin black for 199.00,and i have 1 on the way.i love this body style, and the tonality.i also have a stargazer in crimson ghost which is a whole other story.buy this for a beginner in your home ,a semi-pro,or a pro.this is a damn good guitar.
I've got it signed by "unhindered" and "Skillet" and it looks great! It's durable and it was my first so its got some nicks in but its awesome with my Peavey Blazer 158... I would recomend it to any level
