Comments about Schecter Guitar Research 2011 C-1 Artist III Electric Guitar:

I had no idea Schecter made anything but shred machines? A friend loaned me his Schecter C-1 and I could not believe the classic rock and blues tones I was getting from it so I bought it from him. The Artist III has the same 25.5" scale and was also made in S. Korea. Great price on sale so I gave it a try. The SD's are classic and the sustain is great.

One thing I noticed on all Schecters (I now own 4) is the incredible fret work on each guitar. I don't know who does it but he/she/they are really good! Run your fingers along the side of the neck and you will feel nothing but smooth frets.

This guitar fits your body like a glove and is surprisingly light for a mahogany body. The access to the upper frets is as good as it gets.

All four of my Schecters have the TonePros bridge and you will never hear even the slightest rattle from any of the parts. The 18:1 Grovers are on all of my guitars and they are the standard to judge all tuners by.

One thing to note: If you are a Gibson player, you will notice the difference in scale lenth. Gibsons are 24 and ¾ scale. This guitar is the same scale length as a strat or tele.

Oh, wait for a sale. Doesn't matter if this guitar is included in the sale or not. Call them and They will give you the sale price. Awesome service Musician's Friend!!

Great guitar after sending back the first one

            By Joel Borchers

            from midwestern US

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research 2011 C-1 Artist III Electric Guitar:

            Great guitar, I'm definitely satisfied.
I was looking for a super-strat type of body with jumbo frets, nice passive pickups, and a fixed bridge. This guitar delivered all of that plus Grover tuners. The Seymour Duncan JB bridge pickup has a fat, midrangy crunch that dials down nicely when necessary. The 59 in the neck is just classic--I have one of those in my Double Fat Strat and always have loved that pickup.
Giving this a rating of 7 out of 10 because this first guitar I received had a few significant fit and finish issues (stain had not penetrated the grain everywhere on the fretboard, loose tuners, and pock marks in the wood that had not been filled prior to painting--looked bad). However MF accepted the return and sent me a new one very fast. The second guitar was almost perfect. The setup is pretty good, although the intonation is off (not a big deal though).

BTW, this guitar is made in South Korea, not Indonesia like the newer models from Schecter.

Bottom line though, is that this guitar looks and feels NICE.
For the price I paid, this is an amazing value. It's not a USA strat, but for half the price, it is every bit as good.

Great guitar, but has fit and finish issues

            By Joel Borchers

            from midwestern US

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research 2011 C-1 Artist III Electric Guitar:

Nice guitar, I will enjoy it as much as my USA Fender Strat and my 1987 Ibanez RG, which are both fine guitars.
Can't believe this guitar has Grover tuners, Duncan pickups, and a nice Tonepros bridge. The neck has medium jumbo frets, not as nice as the Hellraiser C-1's frets, but very playable. The neck is fatter than my USA Strat neck, and WAY fatter than my 1987 Ibanez RG wizard neck. It's probably comparable to a Les Paul neck thickness. Feels good though.
I bought this new and it arrived very well packed in the double factory box, no issues there. And it was already set up wonderfully (in the USA). The action is nice and low with no buzzing or fretting out, and intonation was spot on. BUT, the body finish had little pits all over it, like they didn't fill the imperfections in the wood before painting it. And two of the tuning pegs were loose, I had to tighten them up, and worst of all, the fretboard had areas where the stain had not fully penetrated the wood grain, so there are these patches of unstained wood grain. Not noticeable from a distance, but it irritates me that Schecter's QA process missed this. I think I just got a lemon, and I'll be sending it back for a replacement. Other than those flaws, the quality is excellent for this pricepoint.
Great features, playability, and tone for the money!

For me... This is the Schecter that started it all....

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research 2011 C-1 Artist III Electric Guitar:

I was always real sceptical about Schecters... Started reading reviews and decided i should give them a try.. Wow... am I impressed... Thanks to this guitar, Scecters are always on the top of my list when buying guitars.. I recently bought The Damien Elite 8.. And there will definately more in my future.
For my style, I can't complain... I have JB's in 90% of my (6-string) guitars... So that is a big plus for me. The coil tapping gives me variety of sounds to use in my clean channel. Set neck creates amazing resonance... Again I can't complain.
Shipped properly.. Set up already.. Amazing.
Can't go wrong with this guitar.. I happened to nab this bad boy when it was on sale.. so i REALY have nothing to complain about.

            An Incredible Guitar and Value!!!

            By William Rouse

            from Cleveland

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research 2011 C-1 Artist III Electric Guitar:

A classic rock 'n roll look (not boring, not too over-the-top)... a stunning, beautiful appearance. Delivers awesome rock sounds... it is definitely a rock 'n roll machine, but with the refined design and craftsmanship to allow a guitarist to play nearly anything but perhaps country twang. I really try to write objective reviews, and I am struggling to find anything negative to say about this guitar. At the same time, I almost feel bad rating it "only" a "9" overall. I have generally been a Fender guy over the years (and still love them), but this Schecter will stay with me the rest of my mortal life!
The features of this guitar are thoroughly detailed on the MF website. This is a very complete design with tremendous utility. The Seymour-Duncan pick-ups are high quality and it shows in the sound. In fact, all of the components, from the pick-ups to the Black Tusq nut to the Grover tuners are top-notch. It seems that nothing was left-out, no corners were cut. The bindings on the neck and body are simply beautiful... they really enhance the lines of the guitar without "cheesing" it up. The balance and light weight of this guitar make it very gig-worthy, and the 14" radius and string spacing make it optimal for soloing as well as rhythm playing. The only reason I didn't rate this a "10" was that I suppose an added switch might have allowed for a few-more pick-up combinations, but I am being picky. Importantly, I don't find myself searching for a sound that I can't get with this. (Just don't expect it to quack like a vintage strat... buy a strat if you want that sound.)
Wow... I honestly could not find any flaws here, and that's very unusual for a non-custom guitar. For starters, the C1 Artist III has stunning looks (I have the white one), and the finish, neck & body bindings as well as the set-neck joinery are virtually perfect. The ergonomic qualities of this guitar are very good; it is very comfortable strapped-on. Like the best designed & made set-neck guitars, the entire instrument resonates very noticeably as one unit when a string is plucked, and it is even easy to hear it unamplified. Plugged in, this axe has that elusive combination of humbucking warmth & sustain along with tonal clarity. And the single coil tap positions are clear and bell-like. I have only used this in band practice so far, but I plan to use it at our next gig. It provides a wide range of classic, usable rock sounds, yet very legitimate jazz, blues and metal sounds can be had from it with the appropriate pick-up position and amplifier. Also, this guitar arrived from MF with very impressive factory packing from Schecter... double boxed with smart use of foam and wrapping. There wasn't a nick on it! Another nice touch was the factory set-up with D'Addario 10's. And while I would agree with the common opinion that any new guitar worth playing is immediately due for a good set-up, I can't convince myself that this guitar needs one! Maybe that's because it just happens to be set-up the way I like 'em (with action neither "shredder low" nor "old school high"), but the intonation is also right-on, no buzzing, etc. Fret ends are smoothly finished. Are you kidding me?
I purchased this guitar new from MF this summer, and it's almost impossible to overstate the value of the C1 Artist III. This is a pro's guitar that many players should be able to afford. I rate it a "9" only because someone will have an opinion that a lesser guitar, priced somewhat lower, is just as much guitar. I've played my C1Artist III for a month now, and you would have a very tough time convincing me of that! It is virtually impossible to find where any corners were cut on the design, component selection and craftsmanship of this guitar. Extremely well done.

I have had this guitar for a couple of months, the quality is top notch and it plays and sounds as good as it looks. Between my Les Paul and the Artist 111 this is the best of both worlds. No complaints here!

tone for days - a real beauty!

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research 2011 C-1 Artist III Electric Guitar:

i bought a C7 Schecter Standard about a year ago and loved it so much i bought this one when it appeared in the current MF catalog. this is an amazing guitar for the price! mine arrived beautifully finished and set up ready to rock. the intonation was not spot on and the action a bit high for my liking, but that took just a few minutes to dial in and i was ready to roll. the Seymour Duncan pick up combination is fantastic! big, meaty, vintage tone with just the right amount of bite and definition to stand out in any mix. the neck pick up is mellow and fat and sings with smoothness! the controls are simple and straightforward, not a whole lot to mess with or distract you. just plug in and play! and play, play, play is all you'll want to do when you plug this baby in!
