I love this guitar. I've always been a Gibson and Fender guy but I have a newly found respect for Schecter. The Seymour Duncan pickups sound fantastic. Very classic rock sounding. The coil splitting sounds sweet. It has great sustain. I love the feel of the ebony fretboard. The action can be set really low with no buzzing. Once you break in the strings it stays in tune really well. The see through blue finish is gorgeous. The pictures don't do it justice. The only small gripe I have is it takes some poking and prodding when changing strings due to the "string thru body" design, but that's what adds to the sustain so I can live with it. Overall it's a really sweet guitar. Good job Schecter!

The "ebony" fretboard is actually black paint over whatever cheap wood they used, don't expect a real ebony fretboard. Your fretting hand will be stained black after awhile. The "Maple" top is a photo lamination not real maple, the same way samick does it on their guitars. Being that samick probably made it that isn't a surprise. The only real paint is on the back and sides and that bleeds over the binding. I can't believe schecter discontinued the c-1 classic for this horrible thing. A 24 fret guitar with a 24 3/4 scale doesn't work. Schecter needs to go back to the 25.5 scale, rosewood, and the Maple caps that the c-1 classic had.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research C-1 Custom Electric Guitar:

I have had a Schetcher Bass Custom 5 for quite some time and have always loved the go to tone of that instrument and the way it played so I don't know why it took me so long to check out and get a C-1 Custom... The story is like this....I walk in the store and take care of some small purchases and start checking out the guitar wall... I was looking at a getting new Les Paul and just couldn't find one that took my breath away or that could keep my attention for very long....so I picked up this C-1 custom to remind just how nice the LP's were in comparison to these cheaper/lesser instruments ... I walked out of there two hours later with the C-1 and still could not believe what it delivers .... especially for the price.. Amazing is a good place to start... Maybe the one I found is just one of those special tone machines and maybe it was the deal I was offered that I just could not refuse, but, more likely is the fact that I just could not put it down once I played it for a bit.. It grew on me fast .. I tried it in all the different amps looking for a flaw.... anyways once I got the C-1 Custom home and plugged it in to my Mesa Boogie Nomad 45 I knew this instrument was home to stay.... so still love this guitar... It gets easier and easier to play the more you play it... Once you get to a volume where touch becomes a big factor this Schecter really shines through .... It goes to show you that you never really know what a guitar/instrument has to offer you until you give it a chance.... Give this one a chance today... no regrets.... many smiles

Went for the three tone version and what a great looking guitar. 24 3/4 scale on an ebony fretboard with Seymour Duncan Custom Custom in the bridge and '59 in neck provides plenty of possible tones along with the ability to split the coils; a guitarist dream.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research C-1 Custom Electric Guitar:

Right out of the box, it was pretty much set up. All but 2 problems (minor really)

            1) The fret edges weren't dressed completely. Strings hang up around the high end of the neck... (Get a fine file and DIY...)

            2) The knobs were pressed and off center so they "wobble" when you rotate them. (Buy new knobs)

I have no problem doing minor cosmetic work to a new guitar so long as it is playable with a good tone. This one packs a huge punch.

It has a push pull pot to switch between HB/SC which I wasn't aware of, so I get the HB of a REAL guitar and the twang of my Strats (the only thing Strats are good at)

I was really about to go drop the coin on a Gibson or PRS, but my business minded gal said, "Lets give this one a shot before spending a years income.." I'm not as level headed.

It arrived, I popped it out (it was already in the case which I was a little upset about) and ran it through the grinder. Clean, Overdriven, Distorted, Slide, Chords, Lead... You name it. There wasn't anything wrong except the minor issues.

Since Schecter is so well known for it's Goth and Screamo reputation, I was more than a little scared that it was going to sound like mud. The C1 with that Sunburst finish fits. I do Texas Country, Blues, and Rock. Along with recording.

This may not be the guitar for a Heavy Metal player, I don't know. But it fits in the place of a slightly overdriven backing rhythm, or an all out Rock lead. It will keep up with Blues EASILY!!!

I run it through a 410 Deville (no Mods of course), and mostly Boss pedals.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research C-1 Custom Electric Guitar:

What an incredible guitar! I went to my local music store and played about 25 guitars. Les Pauls, SGs, PRS Mira, Ibanezs, Godins etc. The Schecters played the best, sounded the best and looked the best.I fell in love with the C-1 Custom but I was hesitant to buy because they're made overseas. I took a chance and I'm extremely pleased.Duncan pups and a nice set-up right out of the case. This baby has excellent clean sounds and screams when using overdrive! In my opinion its the best of the bunch and at a great price. Can't wait to get another one! Maybe a solo 6 with P90s, hmm...

            Amazing Guitar!

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research C-1 Custom Electric Guitar:

This is an absolutely incredible guitar. First of all, this thing sounds amazing with its actual Seymour Duncan pickups. I plan anything from super cleans, to hard rock on this. If you are looking for a strictly metal guitar, this is NOT it. But, if you desire a guitar that sounds great, looks great, and is incredibly versatile, look no further. This guitar has a coil tap which allows for an array of sounds. The guitar sounds super on clean, and has a very rich distortion. Like I said, it is very versatile. The distortion fits for hard rock and metal like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains etc. If you're looking for that Metallica sound, go with EMGs. I have been extremely pleased with this instrument. The action is INCREDIBLY low making it super easy to play. Locking tuners make string changing a breaze. I would highly recommend this guitar to anyone. Oh and it looks amazing as well.

            Great Guitar For the Money

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research C-1 Custom Electric Guitar:

These C-1 Custom's are excellent guitars for the money. The frets and setup were really nice from the factory. The Duncan pickups are nice, I just wish they would use better volume/tone pots and a better 3-way switch but other than that no complaints. I've had new Les Paul's that cost 3 times as much that had more issues with buzzing and other quality control issues.I don't know what the other guy that reviewed the guitar is talking about?? Mine has a real Ebony fretboard and the top cap is solid quilted Maple not a Veneer/photo flame like he mentioned.Anyways, for the money you can't go wrong.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research C-1 Custom Electric Guitar:

This guitar is super amazing!!! The ebony fretboard is fast and smooth, a gorgeous quilted maple top, and beautiful tone thanks to Seymour Duncan pickups which can be coil split for an unbelievable amount of tones. Perfect for pretty much any kind of music you can think of. More versatile than my C1 Hellraiser. I never thought much of Schecter until a couple of years ago, but now I highly respect them as a guitar company. I highly recommend this sweet instrument.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research C-1 Custom Electric Guitar:

I played this guitar recently in my trip to Fukuoka and it sounded amazing. The neck wasn't sticky, the coil tap really brought out a Stratty tone and it stayed in tune really nicely. However the only thing I didn't like about it was the scale length, but this is just personal preference since I have long fingers and been playing 25.5'' scales. But there's always the Artist III version of the C-1. Still great.
