Comments about Schecter Guitar Research C-1 Custom FR Electric Guitar:

I have always considered myself more of a traditionalist. I've been playing for 24 years, but always gravitate towards Les Pauls, Strats and Teles.

However, my new band plays music that is a little bit more aggressive than the normal Mustang Free Haze stuff, so I wanted to get a guitar I could keep strapped all night without swapping them out.

This guitar is amazing! It looks amazing; these pics do not do it justice. It may be the best playing guitar I own. It came out of the box, completely set up with Slinky 10's. I just needed to tune it up a bit and was ready to go.

The first one I got had a short in the bridge pick up that caused my volume to go out randomly. MF was a pleasure to work with and we got it replaced very quickly with no hassle.

I've used this at several practices and 4 gigs now. It always gets compliments and even my bandmates mentioned how good it sounds.

We play everything from Three Days Grace, Ozzy, Velvet Revolver and Shinedown to P!nk, the Go Gos and Katy Perry. This guitar does it all. The coil splitting may make it the most versatile guitar I've ever played (which has been many, probably over two dozen).

My only comment/complaint would be with Schecter. I initially went with this guitar because it is one of maybe two they offer with passive pickups and a Floyd. I am not a big active PU fan at all. Maybe they could keep us passive fans in mind more? Oh, and a Drop-D Floyd would be great also!

Regardless, I may be a Schecter fan for life if this guitar is indicative of the quality they put forth.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research C-1 Custom FR Electric Guitar:

I have been fortunate to have played many different guitars over the years. It has always been hard for me to select or purcahse a guitar, because I love to play so many different styles and genres of music. But my search is over. You can feel the immense quality of this guitar when it is held in your hands as it is very solid, sturdy guitar. Pulling it out of its case for the first time was spectacular as the guitar looks even more beautiful in person, You can see the real attention to detail in the craftsmanship of this guitar, everything from the beautiful ebony fretboard to the sexy quilted maple top with the smooth vanilla binding, and the hardware just accents the natural beauty of this guitar as well, the pearl Grover tuners and the stainless steel Floyd Rose set a beautiful contrast against the dark depth that the guitar feeds. The pictures do not do this guitar justice. The guitar came set up pretty well, was only a bit off from standard tuning, but it only took me a couple seconds to set it straight. the Floyd rose is excellent and I was wailing on it in no time, after the strings were able to stretch a bit for me I could do whatever I wanted to that whammy bar and the guitar stayed in tune. This is my first guitar with a ebony fretboard and it is rediculous how smooth it is, I feel like my fingers can just glide up and down the fretboard with ease and bend like never before. I have seen that sometimes ebony fretboards are died a darker black, but mine was not, which I was actually quite pleased with as it still holds the black color tone, but with other subtleties such as dark browns that definitely give the fretboard a more natural beauty and character. The pickups are some of the best i've played, and with the added coil splitting the tonal range is endless, I can play the deepest darkest doom metal and switch right to some sweet tangy southern blues and everything in between. A guitar for a true artist, as you can play anything that you can imagine on this, and more. I would HIGHLY recommend this guitar to anyone and everyone, escpecially over other guitar that are seemingly better geared towards certain genres, sure you can buy the other guitar with the active pickups and the sick body shape, but you will never be able to break out of that Rock/Metal disposition. Where as the Schecter C-1 Custom FR can not only handle Metal like a boss but also every other style imaginable. Definitely worth every penny.

Amazing quality guitar for the price

      By Karl Houseknecht

      from Palmyra, VA

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research C-1 Custom FR Electric Guitar:

I hate to give anything a perfect score, but I have to do it with this guitar. It is perfect, exactly what I needed. I've switched all my electrics from Ibanez to Schecter over the last year. I own four: a C-1 Classic, C-1 Custom, Solo-6 Custom, and this one. They're all great lookers and great players and just scream quality. Highly recommend this guitar.
Guitar has it all. Maple over mahogany, set 3-piece maple neck, ebony fretboard, 24 frets, genuine Floyd Rose, Seymour Duncan pickups, Grover tuners. Everything is quality and name brand, not OEM branded. The only thing this could possibly have that it doesn't would be locking tuners. I know that isn't really necessary on a double locking vibrato system, but it sure does make stringing easier.
Quality is outstanding. The build quality is better than anything I've played from the Gibson Custom Shop, although that's not saying too much these days. Still, this guitar could go head to head with upper class Gibsons or PRS and win. The fit and finish is just amazing. The guitar arrived to me perfectly set up and IN TUNE right out of the box. Ready to play. That's because Schecters are set up in their USA location before they ship out. I was able to unbox the guitar 10 minutes before I walked out the door to a rehearsal and play with no problems.

Sound quality is excellent owing to the genuine Duncan Custom Custom and 59. The Floyd is SO much better than the ZR trem on my Ibanez S570. Stays in tune perfectly for days, even with playing. And the activation of the trem is smooth, not jerky like the ZR system. Finally got back to the real deal, and it feels great.

The finish is gorgeous under stage lighting. It looks 3-dimensional and takes on the tint of whatever color light is on it. I've gotten lots of compliments on how pretty it is.
This guitar could easily best the Gibson Axcess, and at a lot less. For the going price, there's just nothing out there that could beat the value of the guitar you get for the money. It is drop dead gorgeous, plays like a dream, and sounds great.

      C-I Custom

      By Johnathan Keller

      from Salem, Or

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research C-1 Custom FR Electric Guitar:

Though I don't own the instrument, I'm more than familiar with Scheter guitars. There dedication to quality control and to make sure that players get the most bang for there buck makes for some powder-keg deals.

This is one of them, if I could afford it I would have it. if it where stolen I would have the persons head on a pike in my front lawn.
I love Gibson. Don't get me wrong, but they're just now starting all there whoopla about the Access series LP's I know people are going to knock it because it's manufactured over-seas but I can attest to personal experiance that Schecter dose indeed use actual quilt and flammed caps of maple. THESE ARE NOT VENEERS!

That being said, this guitar is the everyday (slightly out of reach) mans LP Access. Schecters Set-Thru constructioin is a thing of wonder the heel extends further back to give you amazing comfort while accessing the upper echiolin of the gourguos 24 fret ebony fingerboard. The coil-taps on most any guitar that comes eqquipped with them are of the lower rung in terms of cappability, but if you know how to solder and can expend more money it doesn't present that big on an issue I'm a duncan guy thru and thru, I cant stand active pick-ups not even for death metal, there sound id cold and mechanical, it has absolutly no soul. I dig the Duncans' on this thing. They're savage. The quilt is gorgous, I once played a Damein Special when they where still in production, there was a severarly minute blemish on the body binding. Yet the factory set-up and everything was emaculate. So I sent it back got a new one, I searched it over with a fine toothed comb and couldn't find a single cosmetic issue with it. Yt if I would have been blind-folded I couldn't have told the differance in the two, that is the level of quality control in which Schecter holds themselves.
Read the aforementioned, Schecter is an amazing company.

      Insane quality control.
Just because I'm me and I'm poor as a church mouse, I have to say that this guitar is a little steep, however you definitely get what you pay for especialy with a company like Schecter. I could comfortably say that this guitar is on par with some other companies custom shop ax's.
      Over all an amazing guitar.
If you want something with class style, sophistication, and eye appeal, this is it, look no further.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research C-1 Custom FR Electric Guitar:

I love this guitar! Nicely set up when it arrived, beautiful finish, original Floyd just like my Hellraiser. A little heavier than the Hellraiser, I love the neck and ebony fretboard, inlays, etc. Pickups are a little noisy compared to the EMGs, but they ROCK! This is a classy guitar that can really play about anything you want it to, kudos to Schecter, I love it!!!
