I have been playing guitar for 20 years. I have played many different brands and styles. Unless you are dead set on buying an american made guitar, these schecters are outstanding. My xxx does not have real duncan pups (they are duncan designs). They may have changed since last summer (2006) but the duncan designs sound amazing. This guitar has the cosmetic appointments of much higher priced instruments. I do not buy guitars based on looks and when i saw what the inlays were i almost passed this up (i was originaly looking for a black jack). As i played it and realised how nice it felt i couldn't put it down. It just fit in my hands. Another thing about these schecters is that they make the guitar but they use quality 3rd party hardware, except on their most basic models. The tuners (grover), the bridge (tone pros locking), the pots, and knobs are all top of the line. The strap pegs are big and you may not need to use any special locking pegs (why other guitars don't use these size pegs is beyond me). The switching system is awesome and the single coil tap is outstanding. This is the most versatile guitar i have ever had. The binding is strait and looks good. The frets are smooth. The neck is fast. The upper fret access is unlike any otther guitar i have played. The wieght and shape is very comfortable. You can not get a gutar this nice for this much money from any other company. You cant go wrong with this or any black jack or the C1 artist. Amazing guitar.

Best overall guitar I have. I feels like it was made for me. Holding this guitar is like holding a murder weapon, like you would just kill anything you play. Overall, my favorite. I usually change the pickups or tuners/ bridge or something within a month or so of buying a guitar. I have`nt changed a thing on my C-1 and I`ve owned it for years. Now when my fretboard/ frets wear out I will go ebony/ nickle. Other than that its perfect.
I love everything about this guitar period. I have an ESP EC-1000, an old school Kramer, Charvel, and an Epi LP with burst buckers and still the Schecter is my go-to. I can`t tell you the last time I played the others. Don`t buy anything until you`ve played a Schecter. I bought the first one I ever picked up and Ive been playing it ever since.
Its made like a tank. I wish I could post pics of mine, the finish is chipped all over it, buckle rash, chips, dents, dings, used but not abused. Gold Grovers, Duncans & Tonepros make this baby not only a title contender, but the champ in most divisions. I will definately purchase more Schecters in the future. The only thing that I plan on adding to mine once its worn out is an ebony fretboard with nickle frets. Nevertheless for the price you WILL NOT find another brand that gives you more for the price period.
I would sell the others over this one, even though its beat to hell.

This is a great guitar.

By Bill Clinton-R.N0b

I have owned this guitar and played live gigs with it, and it is a great guitar. It comes with the Duncan pick-ups and they have a great sound, they just need a little more gain for a heavy rocker, but they are good for alternative rock.

Magnificent Ax

My band's bass player has a Schecter bass with the dancers on the fretboard. I would always pay homage to the ladies before and after we jammed. One day, he says you gotta come over and see your Christmas present. There it was, a Schecter C1XXX. I normally play an acoustic/electric Takamine EF341SC and an American Fender Strat when I need an electric. This guitar blew me away! A quick tune and 4 hours later I had to put her down. The sustain goes on forever. It stays in tune all night long. The action is fantastic. I played it through a Marshall half stack and you can shake the sky with this ax. I found myself wanting to play some hardcore, take off your clothes and dance, rawk and roll. Here's something I really liked. It's light. After 4 hours straight, just a little soreness in the shoulders the next day. The Strat would've turned me into a crippled hunchback in half that time. For the money, this guitar is an excellent choice. It doesn't have the voice of a Strat or a Tele or a Les Paul. Don't but it for that reason. It has it's own voice...let it sing!

Huge step up...

Mine just came in today. WOW. I don't even have a decent amp here (waiting for a Vypyr) but the sound out of this thing is already head and shoulders above the Epi G400, the Mikro, and the Squier I've played with in the last few months. Great for metal - it's got teeth that tore up some Pantera and Rammstein. Sounds good on Offspring too, with the coil tapped. The neck is smooth and fast with a nice deep cutaway to reach all the way to 24. Finish is gorgeous, construction flawless, and the inlays... well, you gotta love 'em. I think I've found my new workhorse.

I am into mudflap women. This guitar looks awesome. All I had to do was lower the action to my liking. I usually travel with 5 guitars including this one and it gets played at every show. I keep this guitar in drop C. I think the pickups that came with it were crappy so I pulled both of them and put in EMG's. But afterall, I still give it a 5 for value because where else can you get a black guitar with unique inlays, EMG's or not, at that price? The other guitars I have are 2 - 3 times this price, yet this one sounds, looks, and plays like the rest, and they have boring "dot" inlays!

Best Guitars Out There

By Matt420740

from King, N.C.

I bought this C-1 XXX about 6 months ago. I could not be happier. The pickups sound great. Even though they are "Duncan Designed". Paint is flawless, and the binding is great. The inlays are very well finished, as well as the entire fretboard. Speaking of frets, the Schecters have the best fret jobs I've ever seen. They are always level, and have a perfect crown. 2 volume knobs and coil tapping just make this guitar better. Strap buttons are so large that you'll never need strap locks. Grover tuners, a real locking Tone-Pros bridge. There are absolutley no complaints from me on this guitar. I always used Ibanez before I bought this, now I will never own anything else but Schecters.

LOVE AT FIRST PLAY

By papertiger

from California

I bought this guitar about a week ago, and it's been doing an amazing job for me. I've played a lot of different schecters and it's safe to say this is my favorite one. I play lead guitar in an experimental/metal/hardcore band. It's distortion is amazzingggggggggg, every note is extremely powerful and crisp. The clean is absolutely beautiful, it sounds perfect. This guitar is definently for lead, the neck feel is really nice to, I can shred on this baby for hours. BUY IT.
