I was thinking on buying Kirk's Hammett KH-202 guitar but I got tired of waiting for the axe to be in-stock. So I decided to look for an alternative. Brosing through Musician's Friend web site I came accross many diferent guitar options. Since I love Metallica I wanted to get something closed to Kirk's guitar. I found the Damien FR to be the closest thing to Kirks 202 guitar. It has a licensed Pink Rose bridge and the EMG pickups of Kirk's 202. I was also looking not to spend more than $500.00 on my guitar. BTW this is my first electric guitar and I believe it plays great. I had to reduced the "string action" because the strings were a little high near the first pickup and now it's a lot better to play. After reducing the height of the Pink Rose bridge I also had to re-tuned the guitar. I did this myself using ESP's guitar generic manual. One thing I want to point out. !!! Beware that Schecter does not includes a user manual with the guitar. They DON'T have one at their web site either !!! They state that the "User Manuals" never reach the end user. Thats weird if you ask me. What about the people who buy a guitar for the first time and have no idea how to change strings on a Pink Rose bridge system? Fear not! I found a solution to this problem by visiting ESP guitars web site. Go there and download a generic PDF File that contains anything a newbie would need to know about the componets of an electric guitar. You'll find info about changing the Pink Rose bridge strings among other usefull information. As far how the quitar plays, I think it plays wonderfull. I did not buy the guitar from this web site. I got it from a local vendor and fell in love with it the second I saw it. It had everything I was looking for. I use it with a Crate Amp and Is sounds nice on the clean channel. The "Overdrive or Dirt channel" sounds great too.I higly recommed this quitar to anyone looking for an alternative to Metallica's Kirk Hammett guitar. Remenber to visit ESP guitars and download their generic guitar manual it will provide you with lots of usefull information about electric guitars in general. One other thing the allen wrenches that came with the guitar were the wrong ones. I had to buy a guitar tool box from Musician's Friend. In addition to the wrenches you get a interconnect cable and a warranty card. At least they included one per guitar. They don't have Internet Registration, you have to snail mail the reg info. Conclusion: The Dammien FR is a great guitar, the bat inlays look Kool. IT sounds Great, nice basswood body, nice pickups and a great price!!!I recommend this quitar 100%.

I've had this guitar for a year now, and I have to say, I'm a bit disappointed in its performance thus far. Granted, it does sound very good playing distorted chords, but the EMGs just don't pick up single notes like they should. It also severely lacks tone distorted or clean. Basically, if you're playing anything other than death metal, this guitar is almost useless, which is potentially problematic for someone who plays many different styles. The Floyd Rose bridge might be the worst part about this guitar. They are the biggest pain when changing strings or switching between tunings. Yeah, they never go out of tune, but that really isn't too big of a problem with most good guitars anyway. If you REALLY need THIS guitar, for some reason (it looks cool isn't a good enough reason) Go with either the Damien 6 or 7, because the Floyd Rose really isn't worth the time you'll need to put into it. Oh and it's also pretty bulky and heavier than a show guitar should be. I've played a few other schecters and got really jealous about how much better they play.

    A Great Intermediate Guitar.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Damien 6 FR Electric Guitar:

Overall, this guitar is a must-have if you're just getting the hang of playing. The pricing, the feel, and the overall comfortability, combined with the unique sound you get when you plug it in makes this guitar worth every penny. Even though I dropped this guitar for a Schecter Blackjack ATX C-7, I still like to pick up and play this demon.
This guitar suited me very well for an intermediate guitar. I did not know about passive pickups and active pickups back then, so i just picked this guitar up because of the crunch i got out of it. The EMG Hz's are exclusive to Schecter's Damien series, I believe, so this is a unique sound, especially when I mixed it up with my Pod. The FR was amazing, and I learned how to set one up from this guitar, even though it's a licensed. The neck feels great, but it's not much of a shredder neck. the 24-Jumbo frets make this guitar squeal with awesomeness.
the feel of this guitar in my hands is amazing. The rosewood fretboard feels natural when playing. The basswood body with the black satin finish made this guitar heavy, but comfortable. the pickups selector sort of broke on me a while later, but it's easily fixable. Overall, this guitar is great for showing off AND melting faces.
I bought this guitar at a great price, not a bad deal. I saw many Ibanez guitars and Jacksons around the same price, but none of them felt as complete as this guitar. This guitar fulfilled many of my musical needs, and I will never sell this badboy.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Damien 6 FR Electric Guitar:

This is an amazing guitar. I played one today, and I sat there in the store for 2 hours playing it. The picups are EMG HZ's, and they are fantastic. The neck isnt insane thin but it isnt to thick either. The inlays are pretty cool. You can't go wrong with this guitar. Its the best guitar at its price. Better than any ibanez or BC Rich or fender or jackson ive ever played. Its absolutly the bang for the buck. This thing is perfect for Heavy Metal. When i get the money, i will deffinetly buy this guitar. I have found nothing wrong with it. I reccomend this for anyone who is into heavy metal and who loves to shred.

This guitar is amazing! The pickups are surprisingly good for not being active, they are very hot. Also the Floyd Rose is amazing and very easy to tune and to change strings. Overall, amazing guitar!

It has a floyd rose, DEAL WITH IT!

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Damien 6 FR Electric Guitar:

I've owned thins guitar for about 4 months now. The passive emg's arent the best, compared to active pickups, but get the job done. To those reviews who complain and complain about the floyd rose being a pain to tune and change strings on, what did you expect? It's a floating trem, It's going to move. The bats on the fretboard look great, and the matte finish feels nice. Although, the finish gets shiny in spots where your fingers touch over time. The greating thing i found on this guitar is the job done on the fret leveling. Each fret is perfectly levels, unlike my Ibanez RG.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Damien 6 FR Electric Guitar:

I have had this guitar for 3 years and it is a good decent guitar it was my first guitar. I have had it for three years know and it has held up well, the bat inlays on the neck is really cool and I love the floyd but there are a few things a dislike about it. first of all I don't like the pickups they are weak and don't give me the tone I want, also the input jack is very messed up after a year my input jack started to make a loud fuzzy noise so I fixed it a week later it came back and know every time i play i have to sit with it and hold still or else it makes the noise. All and all a decent guitar.

I have one of these guitars and it's great I use in my church and my Christian rock band. It sounds amazing with any type of effect and the distortion is out of this world. One of my best purchases I have no regrets.

    Deff. worth buying

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Damien 6 FR Electric Guitar:

I've been an active musician for a couple years now and I've pretty much was done with my guitar collection before I bought the Damnien. At that point I was told I would be deploying to Iraq and I needed to find a guitar that would not only last through this desert for a year but give me the music diversity I want. I have not found one style of music that this guitar cannot reach for. Of course it's metal tone is evil and harsh just like how it should be but the clean tones surprised me. If you play around with it you can make it sound like a guitar worth a lot more. I've had no problems with any hardware from the harsh environment. Not to mention it looks damn evil.

This guitar is amazing! I've owned it for over a year and it's proved its use! This guitar is amazingly priced, especially for the quality of it. Schecter has proven its self to me and I'm looking into buying a Schecter C-7 Hellraiser 7-string. Long live Schecter!

Freakin take over the world with this guitar

    By brandonthegeetarman

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Damien 6 FR Electric Guitar:

I've had this guitar for three years and im so glad i got it. This guitar is awesome. It's a very versatile guitar while it is meant to be a hard rock/metal guitar. The sound on this guitar is amazing. It stays in tune very well compared to my Gibson explorer. After about a year I put in Zakk Wylde active EMGs and it sounds even better than before. The neck is fast, tremolo is great, action is perfect, no buzz, strong guitar. The only problem i had with this was the input jack came loose a little bit which caused it to cut out while i was playing but no big deal. I highly recommend this guitar, and any other guitar from Schecter
