In my opinion, Schecter has always been the place to go for solid metal guitars. When I picked this baby up, I knew I was not wrong. The neck is built for speed, which gives great playability. Some old school players may think "Thin necks have no sustain.", which in retrospect is true, but with the EMG pick-ups, you hit a note and come back tomorrow. This guitar can be used for a wide variety of musical styles. I play punk rock and metal in my bands, but for my school, I play in a Jazz and Blues group. I used to have to lug around two guitars to school and to practice, but just master the settings on this guitar and plug it in to a quality amp, and you will be set for life. And besides the fact that it plays great, it's beautiful quilted maple top finish is practically a perfect work of art! If you are looking for a high end guitar to bring to gigs and to show off to friends at a lower end price, look no further, Schecter has got you covered with the beautiful Damien Special.
My wife got me this thing for my birthday and I thought that it would not outperform my Les Paul with EMG's, WRONG! This thing is crazy awesome and for a 1/4 of the price of a Les Paul! oh by the way it looks good too...One word, GETIT!!!
Just got My Schecter Damien Special yesterday and im already in love! This is exactly the kind of guitar that makes my mouth water! Simple. Pretty. Facemelting tone. The EMGs are passive and might not have enough bite for some. For my tastes though they more than satisfy. The finish is alot darker in person but that is not a bad thing. Mine came setup up rather well and with a few adjustments it'll be perfect. The reason I gave it a 4.5 on quality was because of the strings it came with. Just put a set of your favorites and boom! MAJIC!
I picked up this guitar at my local music shop. First off, don't get me wrong, it's a fine guitar. The EMG-HZ passive humbuckers generate a nice tone, and the body shape is comfortable. But I just didn't like the neck. It just seemed a bit gritty and slow, it didn't feel like I could LIVE there, as I feel on an ESP EC-1000. But then again, I am very picky about my guitars, so who knows, it could be an amazing guitar for you.
This guitar is, for lack of a better term, perfect. Everything about it just feels and looks stunning. The photo does not capture the finish as it is, which is much darker. The sound is unmatched. I put a dimarzio cliplock strap on it (if you dont have one, get one of those too) and the balance is perfect. The guitar was a little heavier than I thought it would be, but its not anything to concern you. I also own the omen-6, which is a very good guitar as well. The damien special just feels so solid. I feel as though it will never fail me, and it will stick around my collection for a long, long time. Don't think about it, buy it.
It's well worth the price. Outperforms guitars twice it's worth. Change out the strings, give it a polish, and this baby will SING!Don't wait. If you're considering two guitars, and this is one of them- get it. You won't be disappointed.
