When I purchased this guitar, not but a month's time ago, I was looking to get away from my old Fender Squier Strat. I've had it for years; it was a freebie from a friend in high school. It was an upgrade from my generic Strat copy, and it served me well in the years that I used it, but after years with the guitar, I began to realize it wasn't what I needed.

What I found in this guitar was everything I needed and more. I bought this guitar in the vintage sunburst style, and let me say, the pictures don't do the finish justice. I'd considered going with the cheaper Omen models, but I'm glad I stuck with this. The satin neck was an important feature for me, and this one feels great. The coil split is a great feature. I love the sound of singles in the neck position, and I can get that when I need it with this. The pickups are surprisingly nice (and I have customs on the Strat). The model I received is an upgrade from the guitar in the photos, with individual volume pots for the neck and bridge pups, and a matching headstock, instead of painted. The rosewood on the fingerboard is of high quality, the detailing - inlays, binding, etc. - couldn't be better, the action was great out of the box, along with intonation, and it came with Ernie Ball strings and a Tusq nut, so there was no need to swap anything out upon arrival.

This guitar is absolutely gorgeous, well priced, plays and sounds great, and exceeds all expectations.

I bought it for reasonable Les Paul type bridge humbucker sounds with a longer scale and less weight.

The narrow band pickups sacrifice frequency response for high output which is not compatible with most effect inputs. After hours of testing amps and settings I realize the pickups must be replaced. Some good tones can be had combining bridge and neck but far less than single coil quality used in a similar method. The coil tap is the standard gimmick but the switch may be of use later.

Two guitars had a file gouge in the fretboard likely from amateur deburring of the plastic nut. Upon setup I removed a massive amount of 22, 23, and 24th fret material to combat a large rise in tongue. All other actions were typical.

The body is gorgeous and I sense potential after pickup replacement.

Conclusion: Very good beginner instrument for the price.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Omen Extreme-6 Electric Guitar:

I purchased this guitar right after spending a load on a Gibson '59 reissue LP. I wish I had bought this first. The pickups are fine, but the control pocket has conductive paint, not copper foil. Post are 500K Alpha and has a polyester capacitor. The neck is thin and I have set the action very low with no fret buzz. Tusq nut and tuners that stay in tune. I cannot think of anything I dislike, there is just nothing to detract. Two-piece neck, but I like the added strength (which the Gibson lacks, if it falls over the headstock breaks easily) and the grain inline with the pull of the strings. The tuners allow straight pull on the strings (the LP does not and is a tuning problem) so no binding at the nut. The fit and finish is fabulous. The first time I strummed it, the sustain was VERY apparent. For a bolt on neck, that speaks to the fitting. Anyone would be proud to own and play this guitar. I have been playing for 51 years, been in a recording band and owned just about everything, but this inexpensive guitar is a real value and pleasure to play.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Omen Extreme-6 Electric Guitar:

I don't want to write a book here about everything I love about this guitar so, in short, I am extremely happy with it! You can get many great sounds out of the different pickup combos and it sounds FANTASTIC clean. The top is beautiful but the back of the guitar and neck are super sexy. If you like skinny, matte finish necks, there can't be many more comfortable than this. I'm not in any way comparing these but I have an Epi Les Paul Trad Pro, squier strat, ESP LTD LMH100QMNT, and this guitar and I've got to say this is my go to guitar most of the time. BOTTOM LINE...it looks phenomenal, sounds amazing, and feels like a dream. Worth every penny and more.

Great guitar met all my expectations of what a midrange / low high end guitar should be and could be. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to upgrade or just add as a solid backup guitar.

I was walking through a Pawn shop and came across the Schecter Signature Series Omen-6 with the Burgundy Finish and offered them a fair price. Little did they know I had already ran the make and model through Google and I already knew what I had. I get it home and immediately begin to give it a work out. Aside from the rusty old strings, "I was completely blown away at the extra large frets and the creamy sound this instrument produces. If you come across a Schecter, buy it. YOU WONT BE SORRY I am a convert from Gibson and Taylor

Why did I wait so long to buy this guitar? This is an amazing product, got the antique sunburst which arrived flawless, finish, quality and workmanship blew me away when I opened the box.
Plays and sounds great thru my Line 6 and Fender Stage Lead amps, great versatility with the coil tap in either configuration. I got an updated version with two volume controls and headstock finished same as guitar. I am a Fender guy and this product is easily as good or better than anything I have owned and is absolutely beautiful.
Super value, super product, I could not be more impressed with what I now own.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Omen Extreme-6 Electric Guitar:

First of all the price is ridiculous for what you get. Neck pays like a dream, i have the transocean blue one and its gorgeous! Is really confortable, the 24 frets and the switch position near to your right pinky is any players dream! Plus with the coil split function you get so many diferent sounds from this guitar that is really fun to play it, you can get a close "fender-like bluesy" tone with the sinlge coil option, plus the heavy sound of the humbuckers. Pickups are great, but I changed mine for the Slash singnature seymour duncans just to make it an even more versatile guitar, but the schecter pickups are great indeed.I love the extra jumbo frets, it makes it so much easier to hit all the notes when you are playing fast solos. I have 5 guitars including a gibson explorer, and this has become my main guitar by far!! I'm even thinking in gettin a second one for backup. And all this just for $400, it's a steal!

This guitar is awesome for the price. I have owned an Epiphone Les Paul Standard, nice guitar, and a Fender MIM Strat, o k guitar. This guitar knocks the socks off both and for less money. Georgeous finish, no flaws, sounds great with a variety of tones. If more people would look at this guitar, or the version with the Floyd Rose, this would be the best selling guitar in its price range. I am totally satisfied.
