OVERVIEW

A Floyd Rose Special and active electronics combine on Schecter's Omen FR Active.

Schecter's Omen FR Active is supercharged with a pair of Seymour Duncan Designed HB-105 active humbuckers yielding the precision, attack, clarity, and sustain needed to cut through today’s modern metal and rock mixes. A Floyd Rose Special locking tremolo allows for pure dive-bomb insanity.

Maple neck
Maple has a uniform grain, it’s strong and stable, and it has less reaction from environmental changes than other hardwoods. Its tone is highly reflective, and focuses more energy onto the body wood. Maple transfers a bright tone to the body which complements the warm tones of a basswood body.

Rosewood fretboard
The most common fretboard, rosewood is naturally oily, and works well for any surface that sees frequent human contact. The sound is fundamentally richer than maple because the stray overtones are absorbed into the oily pores.

Duncan Designed HB-105 active pickups
This is a Duncan Designed version of the super-popular Seymour Duncan Blackouts active humbucker. Our engineers figured out how to capture the tone that players want in an active design, but using balanced inputs. The result is 12dB to 14dB less noise, plus more lows, more highs, and more output. Simply put, Blackouts have more tone than other active pickups.

Schecter tuning machines
These high-quality tuners feature a classic design in a lubricated and sealed housing to protect gears for a lifetime of maintenance free playability. Details include a 15:1 gear ratio for smooth and precise tuning, removable knobs, threaded hex peghead bushing and a 10mm diameter peghole.

Floyd Rose Special locking tremolo
The Floyd Rose Special is an authentic version of a licensed Floyd Rose tremolo system manufactured in Korea exclusively for Floyd Rose. The Floyd Rose Special maintains the construction parameters and features of an Original Floyd Rose, while utilizing zinc alloy saddles in place of steel and a zinc alloy sustain block in place of brass.

The flat frets were felt when I moved my hand down the fret board and the floyd rose adjustments were stiff and it was as heavy as my bc rich pro. The pickups were not centered. I could not tell that from the pictures. The black out pickups are great.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Omen FR Active Electric Guitar:

This was such a low price I had to buy it. I am totally satisfied with the guitar. Got it set up to play right out of the box. If this guitar is at the deal I bought it I will definitely buy another one for drop d tuning maybe a third for c# tuning. Styling is great in flat black. The quality of the guitar is great and the Floyd is awesome. I'm so glad that I got this guitar and hope to buy another if the chance comes up. Don't worry about the bad reviews because if you get a bad one, musicians friend has a great return policy. Buy this guitar!

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Omen FR Active Electric Guitar:

I bought this from Musicians friend at a great discount price.
After reading some other reviews, and comments I was a bit Leary about buying it, but mine was almost perfect right out of the box.
I checked it out carefully, especially the neck, but it was straight as an arrow. The action was a bit high for my taste, so a quick tweak of the Floyd Rose and I was jamming within minutes of unpacking it.
I will be buying Schecter's from now on, love the styles, tone, and craftsmanship, without braking the bank.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Omen FR Active Electric Guitar:

First of all, I understand you get what you pay for. This is a complete piece of junk. Do not waste your money. At first, I was excited to try jamming it out, as it was my first active pick-up guitar. The A string was broken, right out of the box. After 4 hours of learning how to string and tune a Floyd Rose tremolo, I plugged it in and found the neck pick-up was dead. No problem, busted out the soldering gun, fixed it up. I hook the wammy-bar up and raise it not even half a note before the A string immediately breaks and lashes at me. Afterwards, the B string(that had been screaming in agony since I started my small wammy)gave out and cut a nice gash into my neck. I bought another set, restrung it, and called it a night.

Enter day two. I went to retrieve it from its box, still having a little faith in the guitar, and was greeted with the A string again hanging loose. I fixed that up, plugged it in, and the guitar sung. The pick-ups sounded excellent. For about 10 seconds. Que A string snapping(3rd time now, keep count!). I went down to the music store, convinced I was doing something wrong, and was promptly told not only should a Floyd Rose tremolo keep the strings tight, but I should get a full bend in both directions with no fear. I bought my 4th and final pair of strings and set for home. I threw those strings on it one last time(each restring taking a minimum of two hours), and plugged it in. At this point, I was legimately terrified to hold the guitar in my hands. I was terrified of something else going wrong, anything else. I did one last test of faith, and hit that wammy bar. Up! Up! Up we go! Hey, this sounds gre-SNAP. I'm done. It sits on my wall now(the guitar itself does look very nice), and I learned my lesson with Schecter. Back to B.C. Rich for me, what a roller coaster of emotion.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Omen FR Active Electric Guitar:

Well Schecter you've lost my business for good. First strike: First guitar sent had a wrapped neck. Not only that it was way out of adjustment. Couldn't even play the thing. Wasted my time repacking it and shipping it back. Second strike: Second guitar sent warped neck again. Not as bad so I thought I ll just play it. Still had to set it up myself. Sounds Great, Floyds nice, Hardwares good. The action was horrible however no matter how it was set up. It was either you got fret buzz or you had to play with it pretty high. Playied ok for about 2 months. Now the warp is so bad I cant play the thing. I keep my guitars in humid free environments with a 70 degree temp away from heat vents. I ve owned all kinds of guitars (even cheap ones) and not one has ever warped on me. So point blank I got a expensive wall hanger. So Two Guitars with wraped necks. Also will add I bought a Sgr (which is also schecter branded) 7 string. Third Strike: It had to be sent back cause the switch went out not even a day of playing it. Wheres the quality that all these artists claim to get from this brand? I got guitars for 100 that have better craftsmanship then this junk. I ll stick to Ltd, Ibanez, and Jackson.

I recently bacame a Schecter fan after many years of playing only Jackson Guitars. Now I still have and play Jacksons, but Schecter has proven itself as a quality instrument. I wanted another guitar with a floyd system for drop c tuning, after a quick set up and new set of strings ( i recommend .10 for lower tuning ) it has been reliable and trust worthy for all the divebombing, pulls , and trills i could put on it
