OVERVIEW

Unique, well-balanced body style with the fat tone of humbuckers on mahogany.

The S-1 Custom electric guitar utilizes the potent tonewood combination of mahogany body, 3-piece mahogany neck, and ebony fingerboard provide a resonance platform for versatile Seymour Duncan Custom Custom SH-11 and '59 SH-1N humbuckers. Schecter locking tuners and a TonePros Tune-o-matic-style bridge/stopbar tailpiece keep your intonation tight and true.

3-piece mahogany neck
Made with 3 pieces of mahogany for extra stability, 3-piece necks can withstand the test of time. Where standard necks may show aging defects from temperature and moisture changes throughout the years, the 3-piece neck will stay nice and straight for a lifetime of playability.

Ebony fingerboard
Ebony has a snappy, crisp attack with the density of maple, but with more brittle grains, oilier pores, and a stronger fundamental tone than maple. It has a tremendous amount of percussive overtones in the pick attack, that mute out shortly thereafter to foster great, long, sustain.

Seymour Duncan Custom Custom SH-11/'59 SH-1N humbuckers
Bridge: The Custom Custom is the SH-5 Duncan Custom humbucker with an Alnico II magnet for warm and smooth highs, more midrange, and a spongier bottom end than the SH-5. It's a good choice for players who need a traditional vintage tone with increased output. Neck: Late-'50s, vintage-correct, humbucker sound. Warm and crystalline clean tones. Full and bright distorted tones. Smooth sustain. Classic appointments include plain enamel wire, long legged bottom plate.

Schecter locking tuners with pearl buttons
Schecter locking tuners feature a locking screw pin to lock the string into place for greater tuning stability. Details include a 19:1 gear ratio allowing for precise fine tuning adjustments, removable Pearloid Buttons, threaded peghead bushing, and a 10mm diameter peg hole.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research S-1 Custom Electric Guitar:

Bottom line - great guitar for the price. The absolute best thing about the guitar is the feel - light and one of the best neck profiles out there. (I like the neck better than my Gibson Les Paul.) Guitar has really decent tonal qualities as well. Only real Con is the Potentiometers, they don't seem like quality pots. And, the push/pull tone pot seems to cut the power back when in single coil way more than it should. I also had a bit of noise in the pickup selector switch. Overall though, not a bad guitar and its fun to play.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research S-1 Custom Electric Guitar:

I use to have a Schecter C1 plus. That was a very good guitar. I sold it to get a guitar Pleked. I still have the guitar that got pleked. But always wished I would have kept the C1 plus. Anyway after the S1 went on sale, it was a no brainer. I just had to get it. Very glad I did. I love this guitar because it's smaller and lighter than the C1 Plus, has the real Duncan pu's and all the good stuff that make's it a excellent guitar. If you have never tried a Schecter, do yourself a favor, and try one. You will be impressed. Schecter make's a very, very good product. And it won't hurt your wallet to bad. I got the Dark Vintage Sunburst, and it looks killer. Won't need to get this one pleked.
I did lower the action a tad bit. Just because I like low action. I adjust all my guitars the way I want them. Also this guitar came with the same strings I use. Brand and Gauge. How can you beat that. Keep up the good work Schecter.
