Comments about Schecter Guitar Research SGR C-1 Electric Guitar:
If you're looking for the best guitar you can possibly get with a small budget, I highly recommend this guitar, and I cannot believe it doesn't cost more.
I've bought three of these so far - and I can afford far more expensive guitars. (The reason I've bought three is that I love them so much, I give them away to people who need a good guitar, but can't afford one yet.)
White is no longer available, and the Midnight Satin Black is a poor description, in my opinion. It's a dull looking matte. I bought that one to replace the Gloss Black I gave away.
The first one I got was great. As soon as I tuned, it sounded perfect. The second two needed adjustments. It was impossible to tune the strings that they shipped with, so I just replaced the strings with some Dean Markleys and was back in business.
Changing strings couldn't be easier. No fussing around with trying to get the old string out or new string in like on some guitars.
I think I'll buy one more just to have a Gloss Black again.
I told a friend of mine to buy this since he needed an electric. He didn't want to because the price was way too low and he firmly believes that to get quality, you have to spend a lot. But he did want to borrow it frequently while he saved up for a Les Paul.
He finally got his Les Paul. When we played together, he was sorely disappointed that my Schecter sounded better. LOL

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research SGR C-1 Electric Guitar:
I own Gibson ES135, Les Paul, Fender Strats (American and Mexican), PRS Santana SE and this SGR is almost as good as any of them. The sound and feel is great. Set up perfectly out of the box. Best guitar you can buy for the money.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research SGR C-1 Electric Guitar:
First one had a crack in the neck pocket. A broken ground wire. The two shorter neck screws were cut off with nippers rather than using shorter screws, big no-no! This one was setup and played very well though.
The replacement sent to me has a blemish/chip in the face near the string through area. The nut was cut very badly (not at all on the G string & way too high on the others) and the action has to be pretty high to avoid fret buzz. This one needs work to get it playing right.
The "SGR" pickups on these say Belcat on the back. They are pretty sterile, dull sounding pups, but for this price, good enough. Details and photos of mine can be seen here: http://www.agileguitarforum.com/showthread.php?tid=26846

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research SGR C-1 Electric Guitar:
Great guitar for the price. Nice finish, decent set up right out of the box. Pick-ups are fairly hot and have pretty good sound. I really like the neck feel , similar to a Strat , fairly thin. If you're looking for an inexpensive (not cheap) guitar to learn on ,this is my pick. Would definitely take this over the Squire Strat. Better sound, better hardware, better built.
Comments about Schecter Guitar Research SGR C-1 Electric Guitar:
i already have a schecter C1FR that i love... i was looking for a good axe for multiple tunings that are a bit too time consuming when using a locking tremilow. i purchased the c1 satin black model.. man this guitar looks sweet and plays well i do wish the "buckers" had a bit more bite.... i am spoiled to the HB 103 active buckers that are on my C1FR so its hard to tell if the pickups that came on the SGR model are better than stock... but all together these guitars are worth every cent!!!
Comments about Schecter Guitar Research SGR C-1 Electric Guitar:
I've wanted a Shecter for about 4 or 5 years now, but never wanted to shell out all that cash. When I saw the SGR C-1 was selling for $180, I did a little bit of research, got my tax refunds, and bought it. I've had it for about two and a half weeks now, but I've only played it 3 or 4 times, due to a crazy work schedule and only being home on the weekends. But so far I've loved it. It packs some pretty rich tone, especially for the price. The Shecter Diamond Plus pickups sound great, and it's cool to have a guitar that uses it's own company's hardware, instead of a Gibson, or something like that that has a certain brand of tuners, a different brand of pickups, and maybe some other brands too. The tone is great for my style of playing, and there's a good bit of range to work with if I want to venture into some different styles. It seems to be staying in tune well, and I'm glad to have Shecter tuners instead of some Klusons or something like that. The sustain is fairly good. Nothing to hyperventilate about, but certainly better than a Stratocaster. The looks aren't killer, since it's a fairly simple-looking guitar, but I think it looks good; I got the gloss black finish. That's one reason you're saving so much on this guitar as opposed to a Shecter: many Shecters have really nice finishes that add a good bit to the price tag. With these simpler finishes, you save a lot of money. You may sacrifice some on the cosmetics, but you'll still have the same level of performance for a lower price.
I'm no professional musician, but I do hold my equipment to a very high standard of performance, tone, and quality. You have to be careful buying lower-priced guitars, but so far I can say that I'm very satisfied with the SGR C-1. It looks pretty good, and sounds even better. If this is a fair representation of Shecter guitars, I'm very anxious to get one of their higher-level guitars in the future. I would recommend this to anyone who plays my kind of music and doesn't have a very spacious budget, but still wants quality equipment.
