Stupid Deal of the Day. This must be a lemon. It had a back bow on the neck and thre first five frets could not play. The frets were very uneven. Some were very high, and some were very low, so low that they were ground down almost to the fretboard. The neck was crooked, so the high strings were almost off the fretboard. I am an amateur lutier and fixed the neck alignment and backbow of the neck, but the frets were just unfixable. The pickups were weak, and could not product pinched harmonics. I have a $99 Squire that is much better quality.

Well some of the reviews before mine talk about it going out of tune and not having the locking nut. The pic also doesn't show the locking nut but mine came with it so I was pretty happy about that. As for the rest it is overall good but the pickups do suck.

Lot of guitar for very little $

By Rock n Roll Cole

Very impressive for the little money I paid for this "Schecter, Diamond Series, Sunset Deluxe FR" in black. Real nice licensed Floyd Rose with locking nut (the same ones on the $1000+ Dean Razorbacks), coil tapped "Diamond plus" humbuckers make for a lot of different tones...from old Fender single coil sounds to full on heavy humbucking tones. Beautiful black chrome on all the hardware and Grover tuners to boot. Other brands want over a grand for a guitar with all these features made with these woods and the only difference is...they through in a case. Well cases are cheap so...you do the math. Great deal for one pretty nice guitar. Oh and I own 9 other guitars...Gibson, PRS, Ibanez, Charvel, Dean and more. so I think I know good from crap and this is real good, especially for this price.

Great Guitar

By this goes to 11

from the world

This guitar is great all around including the floyd rose locking bridge and nut. The nicest feature about it is coil tap which makes the humbuckers sound like single coils when activated. the set up out of the box was great and all I needed to do was raise the strings enough that the lower frets didn't buzz. The only 3 complaints I have are that there is only 1 tone knob not 2, the guitar is a bit thicker than others, and the black makes fingerprints show up eaisly.

Good deal for the money

By rogue-kQ9-w

I bought this guitar about 9 months ago, I must say that i really impressed by the sound dcefinition, the tromello performs well and because of the locking nut it stays in tune, however I have one issue and that is with the pick ups, camparitively, yamaha sounds better with pinched Harmonics, since i have played it enough and now planning on changing the pick ups as some of the reviewers said that it worked for them. Overall a great buy too bad its discontinued.

Great Value

By 7th_string

This is a great guitar for the money. THe only way to make it better is if they made it with a set neck and better pickups. They have a model like that, and it is priced accordingly. I generally use this one for metal and sometimes for drop-d stuff so I don't mind the stock pickups. Oh, and mine has a locking nut.

SO worth it!

I bought this as a stupid deal of the day, just to have a new guitar to play with. The quality is amazing! Like others have said, it's set up very well right out of the box. Even the strings were good quality. Mine also had the locking nut. The sustain of the unplugged guitar is remarkable. I can't recall a guitar that would sing so long with an open chord. The Floyd Rose whammy is quite different from the Kahlers I'm used to, but I'm happy with it. The pickups aren't as bad as some reviews have said, but you'll likely change them too. I put in a Dimarzio super distortion and an X2N and it screams. The finish is really high quality too. My only trivial complaint is the edge dressing of the frets needed a little touch up. I'm extremely happy with this purchase!

Well first off when I got this guitar about a month later one of the stock pickups was shot but I took it back to the schecter dealer and got it replaced so no big deal. Since then have had nothing but pure bliss playing on this axe!!!

Sunset Deluxe: ultimate budget metal guitar?

By HisDudeness

from Texas

See all my reviews

At first I was slightly disappointed with my Sunset Deluxe because the first time I dive bombed, the neck shifted and the high e string was completely dead from the 12th fret up. I shimmed the neck in lieu of adjusting the truss rod and it plays like butter now. I assume this was an isolated issue as there was a recent temperature shift that may have assisted in the problem. Awesome quality for the money. Chinese guitars these days are very impressive. Mine has a coil tapping tone pot too which is a nice unexpected feature. Only (admittedly minor) bummer is the neck has an ugly spot on the maple at the scarf joint, but I guess that's why the guitar is so affordable. I assume higher end guitars get the nicer looking necks. If you want an affordable well-made floyd rose guitar buy one before they sell out!

What were they thinking

By JacksonAxer

from Massachusetts

This guitar is okay in some respects, the neck is pretty fast, the frets are well made and it has a good choice of wood for the neck. Now, the bad things: The pickups SUCK, they have no definition to them and sound muddy all the time, and also, theres a floyd rose but no locking nut? Are you serious?! You cant make the sandwich without the bread!!!! This guitar goes out of tune after two divebombs. Do yourself a favor and dont buy this one.

Sunset Deluxe

Not much bad to say about it, actions nice, FR works as good as any licensed FR,and the coil tap works great. The weakest part of this guitar are the pickups, not saying there bad , they work well, just a little weak. Replaced them with Rockfield Mafia's and that did the trick. I play through A Traynor YCV BLUE 50 all tube with an Eminence Red Coat The Governor ,a Rocktron Replitone 212, Mashall MG50 DFX with an Eminence Patriot Texas Heat, and a Crate V33H amp head into a Crate V Series V212B 2x12 Guitar Extension Cabinet with 2 Eminence Patriot Texas Heat speakers and it rocks. Don't miss out on this one...

Amazing for the price!

By TSF

from Southern Illinois

A band mate of mine got this guitar for christmas, and we played around with it for a few days, and it went out of tune after every dive bomb or messing with the floyd at all. But we adjusted the springs, and it's been amazing ever since. I personally love the guitar, and think its great for the price.

Great guitar for the price

By Aces305

from Miami, FL

I got this guitar about a week ago. Mines came with a little imperfections like the fretboard had a nick on the 12th fret but it is very tiny. The sound is extremely clean especially for humbuckers. They have great output and the lis. floyd rose is a steal. I dont know about what some of the other reviewers said but mines came with a double locking system. Great for the price

Good Axe for the Cash!!

Ask me a question

Own a Fender Tele, but wanted something with humbuckers and a tremolo. This is the perfect guitar for the price. I bought the "scratch and Dent" sale model. The imperfection was so small it took 1/2 hour to find it!! Added Elixer strings and left everything else as it came. Am more than happy with the results. Am in a 50's and 60's duet and play quite a bit.
