A uniquely shaped body and loaded with outstanding features.

The Schecter Synyster Gates Special electric guitar features a Synyster styled mahogany body, a 3-piece set mahogany neck with an Ultra Access heel, and a 24-fret ebony fingerboard. It is equipped with Seymour Duncan Invader SH-8 humbuckers with coil-splitting, a Floyd Rose Original tremolo and locking nut, and Schecter tuners. Appointments include a Official Syn skull logo signature on back of the headstock and Custom Syn Skull dome knobs.

    Schecter Tuners
These high-quality tuners feature a classic design in a lubricated and sealed housing to protect gears for a lifetime of maintenance free playability. Details include a 15:1 gear ratio for smooth and precise tuning, removable knobs, threaded hex peghead bushing, and a 10mm diameter peg hole.

    Ebony Fingerboard
Ebony has a snappy, crisp attack with the density of maple, but with more brittle grains, oilier pores, and a stronger fundamental tone than maple. It has a tremendous amount of percussive overtones in the pick attack, that mute out shortly thereafter to foster great, long, sustain.

    Seymour Duncan Invaders SH-8 Pickups
Designed for the heaviest tones a passive pickup can produce. The combination of three ceramic magnets, over-wound coils and twelve black oxide cap screws make the Invader an electrifying force of energy. The wide magnetic field pumps power into your amp with a totally heavy sound. A tone control push/pull switch activates coil-splitting for single-coil tones.

    3-piece Mahogany Neck
Made with 3 pieces of mahogany for extra stability. Three-piece necks can withstand the test of time. Where standard necks may show aging defects from temperature and moisture changes throughout the years, the 3-piece neck will stay nice and straight for a lifetime of playability.

    Synyster Signature and Skull Logo
Official Syn skull logo signature on back of (Devil) headstock.

    Custom Syn Skull Dome Knobs
Volume and tone controls feature matching metal dome knobs with Syn's infamous skull and tophat logo.

    Original Floyd Rose Trem System
The Floyd Rose Tremolo System is used by more professionals throughout the world than any other. No copy can duplicate the patented double-locking design of the Floyd Rose Tremolo System that allows you to lock your guitar in tune at the nut and at the bridge. The Floyd Rose Tremolo System is engineered like no other tremolo system.

I bought this guitar mostly for the great deal at the time. I figured it would be something to play around with and would look nice next to my other guitars. I didn't expect much from it, but after playing it for a while, I fell in love with it.

The neck is thick and fast and the body is heavy. If I close my eyes, I can almost imagine that it's a Les Paul just from the neck and the weight.

I was a bit concerned about the shape of the body, but it's even more comfortable than a standard strat-shaped body.

The guitar has great tone, great feel and the 24th fret is really easy to reach. The locking tremolo does its job and keeps the guitar in tune even after a good throttling.

The only thing I don't like about this guitar are the little skulls painted on the volume/tone knobs. They're a little tacky and unnecessary - almost seem like an afterthought, but the construction of the knobs and all the electronics is very solid.

For the price, I thought I was getting a cheap guitar, but the more I play this guitar, the more I like it and am impressed with how solid it is. Excellent deal for what I paid.

I don't consider myself a professional musician, but I've been playing guitar for almost 30 years, and I've owned a San Dimas Jackson for about 27 years, so I'm a bit spoiled when it comes to quality, and this guitar is excellent quality for the price. I highly recommend buying it if you're on the fence about it. Now, I just need to decide if I want to get the BC Rich Mockingbird that I have my eye on.

Look at the tremolo block it's stamped with FR 37, made in Korea of cheaper metals and will not last. Send it back while you still can.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Synyster Gates Special Electric Guitar:

This guitar is amazing. Good feel, awesome pickups, floyd is not an original but just as good. Stays in tune perfectly. The neck is no Ibanez neck but at least its not thick up to a point that it restricts you. Definently worth every cent although I did get it on sale.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Synyster Gates Special Electric Guitar:

I was looking hard at the Hellraiser C1 by Schecter. The Synister Gates Custom is set up very much like it, solid neck, FloydRose Tremalo, Twin humbuckers, but the Hellraiser was a little out of my price range. Then this went on sale before Christmas. I have played around with the Hellraiser at my local guitar shop and honestly I cant tell any differance btween the two guitars. The only differance I can even find is the Hellraiser is set up with EMG's and Synister Gates Custom with Seymore Duncan's. This guitar was made for hard rock and metal. Great sustain for soloing and great low end crunch for chugging away. One great feature from Schecter is the pull out tone nob that takes the humbucker to single coil. Great for any clean work you have to do.

I am very happy with the Synyster! It has a great feel, great sustain, comfortable neck with great frets. I was interested in adding a guitar to my collection that had a tremolo bar, one that would work well, and this one does have what I was hoping for. I found it at the lowest cost I've been able to on the "Stupid Deal Of the Day" offer and I couldn't be happier with it. For me, into playing mostly Heavy Metal, this guitar serves it's purpose!

This guitar sounds like a fearsome beast. Great tone! It's a little heavy, but I'm an older player too. Fine for younger guys. I plugged it in, struck a chord, and it struck a huge smile on my face. I have small fingers, so the fretboard is a little wide for me playing in drop D, but again, my fingers are smaller than average. Clicked into single coil, and still, great tone. Metal players certainly will NOT be disappointed. Great for Motley Crue sound and classic rock too. As for blues with gain turned up slightly, sounds great. If you can handle a heavy guitar and you have decently sized hands and fingers, it can't miss. You'll love it!
