Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Tempest Custom Electric Guitar:
This is the second Schecter I've purchased (1st is a C1+ that I still own), and haven't regretted one moment. I was looking / lusting for the holy grail Gibson Les Paul but as I am a guitarist by hobby and not profession did not want to spend $2k plus for a new guitar. Comparing features and viewing multiple youtube video reviews of this model convinced me it was the perfect cost alternative for what I was looking for. Since I had already owned another Schecter and found it such a great guitar confirmed for me this was the next one to add to my collection. Schecter builds some of the best built highest quality mass produced instruments and this one was no exception. The tone from the SD 59 & Custom pups is perfect for the styles I play (Classic & Hard rock, Blues). The setup out of the box was spot on and other than minor tuning have not had to touch a thing. I got mine a year ago in the black w/gold hrdw. finish and have been very pleased with it, I would not hesitate to purchase another Schecter product in the future. If you're thinking of Schecter but have doubts go try one out - you won't be sorry. Schecter - you guys rock!!

This is my first Schecter guitar and it will not be the last. I am a new Schecter customer.
I just received this guitar yesterday (3/29/2012). This guitar is very well built and set up. The appointments on the guitar, pickups, tuners, bridge, ebony fret work, fret work, intonation are excellent for the very low price. I first was looking inot a Gibson Les Paul or other type of hollow body, with the idea in mind of updating pickups, bridge and tuners. But this guitar for the price comes with all the goods and perfectly set up, even the block inlays are amazing. I order mine with the faded vintage sunburst and it just screams play me. I am a floyd rose, transtrem type of player but this guitar is too good to put down.
If you want a hybrid instrument that can cover many tones and mirror a Les Paul, Paul Reed Smith and a Fender. Look no further. Right out of the box this piece is set up perfectly!
You will not find a guitar will all of these appointments for close to the price. It is well worth the price for all the features on this guitar.

Best guitar i've ever owned and i have some nice ones.
No flaws @ all. Still learning my way around 2 volume and 1 tone
great feature just not used to it yet. Highly recomend this guitar even if you pay full price.
Musician Friend RULES!!!
Flame maple top, locking tuners, ebony fretboard, Killer pup's, set neck. cream binding
features usually reserved for higher end guitars but you get it all with the
custom tempest
Not a flaw on or in this guitar.
Excellent value. I have to thank Musician friend for sticking by their word.
This guitar was mis priced "priced to low" I guess i took advantage of it and boy they sent it right out
without question. Who does that?? Most companies would say hell no

Look above, I think you know the answer. I didn't even try it before I bought it and HAVE NO REGRETS!!! I just trusted the value in the product, quality, and tone, and went with it....No regrets what so ever....Get it!!!! This is your inner conscious calling to you!
MOST VERSATILE GUITAR EVER!!! Actually I started on old Omen6 when they brought their first models up and I have always been a fan, those low rated beasts can still wail, which is why I got turned on to Schecter. I've owned many guitars in the past and been saving up to own one of these tempests. I love the body style, always have. Got it in the faded sunburst. Whenever I bring it on for a gig, people always take a second glance and say,"No way in hell should he be playing that nice guitar!" Yes very nice, but affordable, and I have always relied on Schecter for a very versatile sound. The tap coil, is brilliant work! You can tell more on a clean channel. I use a Peavey Valve King HD and a Peavey 6505 cab, with (on the clean channel) a digitech: Chorus Factory and with the tap coil it shines like no other guitar I've played. Distorted in Humbuckers tears it up. Couldn't be more happy with the investment, and I've played with many Deans, Ibanez's, and Gibson's and it handles the competition. If your feeling doubts.....Don't...get it and figure it as an investment, even though it's a hobby!
Quality is superb. Plays and feels smooth, this is what I have been looking for. Hardware is very nice, you have to try one out for yourself.
Glad I bought it, never, ever will sell it!!! Period.....

Sounds great, plays smoothly, no flaws out of box, set up perfect out of box. This is probably the best Schecter I have played yet. The combination of the pickups mesh well. Basically you could compare it to a Gibson LP, but I like this one alot better, and for half the price, it is nearly a steal.
Always been a huge Schecter fan, and this beast sounds amazing.
I like the option it gives of switching between single coil or humbucker, and it does give it a nice texture. You can still tell the difference when it is distorted, but the sound is more defined in a clean tone. To me, it is a very versitle guitar and can play any style. The quality of the finish is superb, and it looks exactly like it does in the picture.
The only thing I didn't like, the tuning keys are plastic, but that is a simple fix. Other than that, I don't see how anybody couldn't like this guitar. For the quality and features this had to offer the price was very fair, and am glad for the investment.

Got my Tempest Custom 2010 in Black with Gold hardware and it is simply Gorgeous! All the high end features including mother of pearly inlays, binding, ebony fingerboard, locking tuners, coil tap, Duncans ect...It's a very heavy guitar, about 1.5 times as heavy as my LP Studio. Duncan pickups sound beautiful clean or dirty with the versility of coil tap. Ebony fingerboard plays effortlessly and was setup perfectly out of the box by Schecter USA. Could compare to guitars costing thousands more.

I bought this guitar in black and not only is it sexy, but it sounds fantastic. I own a Gibson SG, a Gibson Les Paul, and a Fender Telecaster, and without a doubt i enjoy playing this guitar more than all my others. I have always had to tweak my other guitars to get them to sound the way I want, but with my Tempest I wouldn't change a thing about it. This guitar can do whatever you want it to do, its incredible. If you don't have one, then buy one. Its a no brainer.

Paid 499.99 for the discontinued See Thru Black Finish. Guitar came with a good but not great setup and there were no blemishes at all. All the goodies this guitar comes with such as mahogany body, a shreeders neck, tone-o-matic bridge and tailpiece, SD Custom and 59 Pups, and coil-splitting make this guitar a great deal even at 699.99. The tone, look, and versatility of this guitar is comparable to guitars double the price. I would hihgly recommend this guitar over all epiphone guitars and over most esp ltds due to price, quality, and all the goodies. I am currently playing this guitar through a Mesa Duel Rectifier and Peavey 6505+. Take care.

Like a hot rodded, 'modernized' Les Paul. I like buying guitars that have quality pickups and tuners stock, so I don't have to replace them.Sounds really good and plays fluidly. I have owned Schecters before and was really impressed with their neck/stability/playability, and this one is great in all those aspects. After fine tuning the setup on it, it is an amazing guitar that is just as enjoyable to play as any higher end one I have.

I ordered the 2010 Tempest Custom in Faded Vintage Sunburst from MF, and I am amazed at how great this guitar is! This model is upgraded from the 2009 & prior year Tempest Customs. The action, fit & finish was excellent out of the box. All I did was change the .010 strings to .009s. Mine looks just like the pictures here with a nice carved, flamed maple top and multi-ply binding like an LP Custom. The locking tuners are nice and cut re-stringing time in half. The USA Seymour Duncans sound great; good for blues to classic rock to heavy rock tones. Sustain is amazing, the tone is as good or better than my Gibsons & other high-end guitars costing much more. You also get a GraphTech nut, and Tone Pros Bridge/Tailpiece, plus coil tap. If that isn't enough, a bound ebony board with really classy split crown inlays puts it over the top. Have played since the 70's, own many guitars and used to spend big $$ adding Duncans, tuners, coil taps to my guitars. This baby has it ALL !!
