I went shopping for a new acoustic/electric with intentions of buying a Seagull. Several of my friends play them and I am impressed with the sound and quality of construction. I took my guitar buddy with me to do side by side comparisons. I was excited to see the flamed maple Seagull, what a beauty. My friend grabbed a similarly styled flamed maple Fender DG-22CE NAT The tone and volume of both guitars were comparable. But the action of the Seagull was so high it was much more difficult to play. The owner of the store said he could have the guitar tech set the action of the Seagull but I declined. I checked the other Seagull's action which were better, but I was set on the flamed maple look. The action of the Fender DG-22 made playing a breeze. It's a shame that the Seagull was not set up that well from the factory. I would like to put in a good word for the Fender acoustic DG-22CE NAT, it sounds great plugged or unplugged and is a joy to play. And is in the same price range as the Seagull line.

The 25th Anniversary Edition CW should be an exceptional value for the dollar. However, I found that the available guitars in this model were significantly different in the quality of setup from the factory and ultimately selected one that I liked the wood on. Much to my surprise a few months later I finally decided to play it through my Genz Benz Shenandoah ProLT amp and was shocked to discover there was very little amplified sound coming from the 1st string (High E). A trip to the store and it was discovered that the bridge was strangely shaped and was not touching the pickup for the 1st String. So, a new bridge was in order and I have now been waiting for two weeks to get the guitar back and still don't have a solid date. I just hope that the action is acceptable when I get it back!Ultimately, check the Seagull you want very carefully for quality of workmanship. If it has pickups, play it through an amp before you make the purchase. Check it against another example of the same model. I believed that Seagull provided an excellent value for the dollar, but have since played Breedlove, McPherson, Martin and Taylor and have to say that I would have been better off spending more money in the first place. I question if my next guitar will be a Seagull due to what I see as poor quality control and inconsistencies between guitars of the same model.

Last winter, I've gone to a guitar shop to buy a new acoustic guitar! My eyes was first on a Takamine or Martin guitar, BUT I've seen this guitar tested it, played it and bring back at home! I play everyday, and the more I play it the more I want!!!this guitar give me the need to play, you know what I mean.....I've tested it on stage ( because it's an electro acoustic guitar) and the sound was awesome!really love it!gonna see if I couldn't buy another Seagull guitar....

Godin does it right

Looks fantastic, everywhere I take this I get complements on it. This is my second seagull and the quality is top notch. I work in a guitar shop, and I had one of the guys in the shop play on it, and he liked it quite a bit better than the 2K Gibson he owns, He ended up buying one. As always though, with any acoustic guitar you should buy it in a local shop if at all possible. That being said, I've never seen a bad Seagull come through here and Seagull really stepped it up on this guitar. Also not mentioned in the description page, my guitar came with a chromatic tuner built in which was a nice surprise.

Affordable beauty and quality

By Dan the man

I have always liked Martin and Taylor guitars but they are too expensive for me. This guitar rivals all of the high priced acoustics on the market. I love it. No buyers remorse what so ever. Although like some mine did not come with a built in tuner but I really could care less considering how much I love this guitar. The wood comes from canada in practically the same place Martin and Taylor get there stocks. Its cold and the wood seasons much better there. This guitar has no plastic on it as far as I can tell. All wood. Even the inlay around the cutaway is made of little tiny intricately placed wood. And all that lack of plastics makes for a much richer full tone. Buy it and you will be impressed. Trust me.

Beautiful visually and sonically

The guitar is visually beautiful, so stunningly beautiful I bought it on impulse. But I have no buyers remorse.Sonically it is much better than guitars in this price range. It is not overly bright sounding which you might expect from an all maple back and sides. The balance and articulation are excellent.I especially like the satin finish on the neck and the wide nut. The body is a thin, high gloss finish.

Ask me a question

I own about 30 guitars, everything from Les Pauls to Taylors. I bought my first Seagull about 20 years ago and loved it so I bought a 12 string which I still own and love. I have a Taylor 410ce and when I saw this flame maple 25th I was in love. Plays like butter and you can't beat the price. Unbeatable value.

Greatest Acoustic-Electric in existence

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I went up to a local guitar shop yesterday and just went browsing around the store. My original intent was to find an Ibanez AE because I play an Ibanez electric and have been overall satisfied with them. But this one caught my eye when I first saw it. The finish on the guitar was beautiful, and plus it was a Seagull, so I knew it would be good. I picked it up and started strumming a few chords om it, and fell in love with it. For all of you people who think Martin has better guitars, I disagree. I played a 2K Martin side by side witht his one, and this one blew it away with tone. Great action, beautiful looks, unbelievable tone. This is by far the greatest AE I have ever played. Soon when I have enough money saved up, I'm gonna make this one my own.

Bought the same guitar twice

I bought this guitar on impulse. It is beautiful, visually and tonally. But a saw a $2600 Stonebridge I loved more and traded this guitar in for the Stonebridge. They couldn't sell this guitar used at the store and every time I went it they were long faced about it. So I paid them what they gave me on trade in and took it back. I play it more than the Stonebridge now. :) I love the way it plays and the tone - it's not too bright with is surprising because of the flame maple. The volume and tone of the Stonebridge is superior but not by much!!! And the Seagull is actually easier to play. The tuner is very accurate and the electronics are excellent - not something you would find in other brands at this price. I like this so much I'm thinking I'm going to get a top of the line Seagull and perhaps sell off the Stonebridge.

Superior Value Guitar

By Sausage-XNMa9

from Dallas

Played a ton of different guitars in the price range, and none of them could touch the tone and playability of this one. It has great balanced sound and plays very smooth. The electronics on it work great, and it looks and feels like a very solid guitar. Nothing but suprise and compliments from others who try it out. I got a great deal from my local shop on it as well.Way better than a martin or taylor that would be in this price range...but don't expect it to sound as good as a well taken care of martin would after 10 years. Still, it will age well and is made with great care. It also won't set you back 2000 to get a good sound.
