At home onstage or in the recording studio, advanced electronics faithfully amplify the sterling tone.
The Studio Cutaway i-Beam Duet Acoustic-Electric Guitar is the flagship of Seagull's Artist Series. The sound practically leaps off of the resonant solid spruce top and rosewood back that produce rich acoustic tone. Balanced tonal response, striking projection, and the ability to perform in both plugged and unplugged environments give the Studio Cutaway guitar great versatility for both live and studio use.
The i-Beam Duet system blends the iBeam and Ribbon Transducer signals with an onboard preamp featuring a very sophisticated set of controls for mixing and 3-band equalization. This combination of 2 transducers lets you dial in a wide range of sound.

My instructor who is a professional, recording guitarist played mine one time and immediately laid out the necessary green for one of his own! He has had it for about 1 year now and it's his new favorite acoustic. I have had mine since '99 and I mostly use it for fingerstyle playing. The strings are spaced just a little more apart than other guitars I have played (a bit more like a faux-classical steel string guitar), giving me plenty of room to work. The tone and electronics are PHENOMENAL! Just for reference, I also own a Taylor 810ce. Play them both with Elixir Nanoweb Mediums (.013-.056) which I also love. No need to say more - you get what you pay for.
I purchased this guitar about 2 years ago. Not a single day has gone by since then that I am glad I did. This guitar is extremely well built and has great acoustic sound. The tone is rich, warm, and fairly mellow. Not a bright sparkly sound, but just enough high end to be sharp. It's exactly the tone I love. I played probably 50 different guitars in the process of looking for a nice guitar and this one was simply un-beatable for the price. I found a couple 2000+ dollar guitars that sounded better, but for half the price I couldn't pass up the seagull. This guitar excels on the stage when you plug it in. Man! the iBeam system is phenominal! I highly recommend this guitar to anyone who is looking at buying their first high quality instrument, you will not be dissapointed.
