Comments about Seagull Entourage Rustic Concert Hall Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've not found many reviews on this particular model of Seagull guitar, nor can I find it on their website. But I took a chance on it and I'm really glad I did. First off, it does indeed include Fishman Sonitone electronics. The controls are mounted deep in the top of the soundhole, which is why they don't show up in pics. instrument plug is built into the battery box (externally accessed). I've not yet tried out the electronics, so apologies for that. It also comes loaded with Cleartone treated strings (wound G), which I actually like.

Fit and finish. The finish on the guitar is more brown than the reddish color in the pics, but very beautiful. The fit is amazing, every seam is flush, and you cannot feel or see any gap between the fingerboard and neck. The frets are level, and very well dressed (zero sharp or proud edges). The binding is perfect, as is every other seam on the guitar. Tusq XL saddle and nut btw.

The action is perfect for me (I like a low action), and it sounds amazing. The neck is fast and very playable for my larger hands. The guitar rings clear with good mid-range and highs with excellent sustain. For reference, I'm not a "high end" guitar owner," the nicest in my small collection is an original Yamaha FG-300 Nippon Gakki (mom it bought new in '72) and this Seagull matches/exceeds it's sound but in it's own voice.

I have 2 entourage guitars. Because ofthe open pore cedar finish, the top will chip and deny easily, but I like the character develops.

Comments about Seagull Entourage Rustic Concert Hall Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought my first Seagull years ago, another Entourage Rustic model, intending for it to be my cheap "beater" guitar. Instead, it quickly became my backup stage instrument, second only to my all-solid Martin dread. Since then I've owned much more expensive Seagulls (Performer CW, Maritime SWS Rosewood), but I'm still always impressed by the bang for the buck Entourage Rustic models give.

This one is no exception to that. It is, however, a bit of an exception to one of the key features on some other Entourage Rustic models: the top is solid spruce, rather than solid cedar. It fits this body size very well, giving you a sweet, balanced tone. I was concerned it might lack low end compared to its cedar-topped counterpart, but it turned out to be the perfect top wood for this model. It's an exceptional fingerstyle guitar, which is essentially what this size instrument is built for. Every note from the lows to the highs is clear and articulate; nothing overpowers. The 1.72" nut width also lends itself to fingerstyle better than some other guitars with 1 11/16" nut widths. Just enough extra string spacing.

One other use this guitar is particularly well suited to is recording -- again, because of the balance and no part of the tonal spectrum overpowering the rest. You won't find yourself having to work the EQ nearly as much as with a larger guitar, and even less than some comparable size guitars.

Even though this is a low end model, it's handmade by the awesome luthiers who make all the models I've owned, and it shows. The attention to detail is great, with every joint looking flawless, the frets perfect, the binding and finish top-notch. If I had to pick on one small thing, maybe they should have shaved a little material off the saddle since there is a pickup underneath it. The action is still very playable, but I'd prefer it a hair lower.

Overall, I doubt you'll find anything better, or even as good, for the money.

Comments about Seagull Entourage Rustic Concert Hall Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

It is a nice lightweight guitar. Its sound is a little brighter than other Seagulls I own but the trade-off is worth it because of it's slender smaller size. Can be played acoustically in small to mid-size rooms but the electronics allow it to be plugged in and played to a much larger crowd. Over-all I am very satisfied with the purchase.

I play a wide variety of acoustic music and like different types of acoustics. That said, this model can cover anything I'm in the mood to play. Unbelievable quality for the money spent! I have owned quite a few higher priced guitars over the years and this Seagull comes amazingly close in playability and tone. It's the second one I've ordered in a week. First was a dreadnought size walnut model.
