OVERVIEW

Solid mahogany and spruce construction lends this guitar warm, rich tone.

The Maritime SWS Folk acoustic-electric guitar is made with a solid mahogany body. The guitar's mahogany body produces a strong sound with an emphasis on a mellow, round midrange. The Maritime SWS Folk also features a solid spruce top, integrated set mahogany neck, chrome hardware, and an Indian rosewood bridge and fretboard. The guitar's high-gloss finish provides excellent protection but at the same time is extremely light and elastic. This is a crucial point in both the sound of the guitar and its ability to age-a thick finish muffles a guitar's vibration and blocks aging. The Seagull Maritime SWS guitar also features the Godin Quantum I onboard electronics for a great plugged-in experience.

Comments about Seagull Maritime SWS Folk High Gloss QI Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I like this Seagull Maritime SWS Folk Guitar with Q1 electonics. I went to you-tube.com and checked out there guitars. Very impressive, made in Quebec,Canada, I was very impressed with Mr. Godin and staff making his Seagull guitars. I own 3 Martins, great instruments. I would buy this Seagull folk if only there was a pickguard. For the price, quality woods,Adirondack bracing, curviture top at the saddle, I was very impressed with the quality and care of the making of Seagull guitars.

My next guitar will be a Seagull.

Comments about Seagull Maritime SWS Folk High Gloss QI Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I'm giving the Seagull folk guitar 4 stars instead of 5 for a few reasons.
The action was very high on the guitar out of the box. Far worse than the A&L Ami that I purchased a couple of years ago. I had to adjust the truss just a bit and then sanded down the saddle. IMHO it was not playable out of the box.
The action is still too high. More saddle sanding is needed.
Also I would have liked the guitars appearance better if it had the seagull at the 12th fret. I suppose they left it out to make the price of a solid wood guitar reasonable. Just an observation, not really a complaint.
Only one strap pin. I don't know why manufacturers do this. It would make sense to add none or two.
The playability of the guitar will be very good once I get the action down to where it is needed. The wide fret board is helpful playing finger style.
The sound of the guitar is very good with finger style or light strumming. The guitar starts sounding muddy if played hard with a pick.
Electronics are good, but the bass has to be turned way down if played through an amp.
I would highly recommend this guitar for someone who plays mostly finger style. That's what I bought the git for and am very happy with the purchase. Although I don't think the guitar sounds as good as other guitars that cost three times as much, I think the guitar is a solid value.
I wouldn't recommend the guitar as a great all around guitar.
I bought a mint returned guitar. It is in mint condition.
