Seagull

A great-sounding mini jumbo at an affordable price.

The Seagull Performer Mini Jumbo QI Acoustic-Electric Guitar features a 3-layer hardwood laminated body and a solid spruce top for a superb blend of rich tones. The guitar also has an integrated set neck joint and, Indian rosewood fretboard and bridge, and a Quantum I pickup for a great plugged-in experience.

Compound Curve Top Design

The guitar top is the part of the instrument that most affects the sound. It is also the most delicate part of any high quality acoustic guitar. The grade and thickness of the wood used (solid spruce), as well as the bracing structure, have a huge impact on the instrument's sound. The idea of applying an arch or a curve to the top is appealing because the added strength of an arched top should allow for the use of a thinner and more lightly braced top. While this is true, there remains a trade-off in applying a curve to the entire top. The most active part of the top is the area centered on the bridge. Applying a curve to this part of the top restricts movement resulting in a loss of dynamic range. On the other hand, the area of the top above the sound hole moves minimally but is problematic because it tends to sink if the guitar dries out even slightly. This tendency is also encouraged by downward pressure from the fingerboard resting on top of it. The solution is a top that has a compound curve.

In the Seagull Performer's design, the top is arched slightly in the area above the sound hole and levels out in the area around the bridge. The compound curve top produces excellent stability in the upper part of the guitar top and the power and projection made possible by leaving the top flat below the sound hole flat. With the weak area above the sound hole stabilized, it is possible to make the rest of the top even more active with the bracing design that allows unprecedented control over the top vibration. The bracing for the Seagull Performer Cutaway QI Guitar is quarter-sawn spruce, scalloped and carved to conform exactly to the curvature of the tops. Includes gigbag.

Choose the Seagull Performer Guitar for an excellent value and smooth tone.

I purchased the Seagull Performer about a month ago. The action was higher than I like but everything else was excellent. I knew when I picked it up that it was a quality instrument. The sound unplugged is solid with great projection but amplified it is awesome. I didn't realize how beautiful it is in appearance until people approached me after the gig and asked where I got such a beautiful instrument. I am very happy with it.

Went into my local guitar shop today looking for a takamine. However, they only had them in Twelve strings. The clerk asked me if I was looking at Guitars over $1000 and showed me the full sized Seagull with Q2. Although I loved the sound, I needed a guitar closer to dreadnought size. He gave me this one and instantly I knew i would buy it. Great value, better than  all of the guitars he showed me above $1000. Couldn't be happier with the purchase :)

I recently purchased the Performer Mini Jumbo and got the best deal ever at Musician's Friend! This guitar is an awesome value for the price.  The finish is flawless and the wokmanship is, too. The piece of Indian rosewood that the fretboard is made of is just beautiful; rarely seen on guitars costing twice as much. I had to lower the action by adjusting the truss rodd and lowering (filing) the bridge a bit, but I do that with all my acoustics.  I like low action.  I guess my only issue might be that I wish it came with the Q2 electronics package as well.  Don't get mewrong, the Q1 sounds great, but with this nice of a guitar, it would also be nice to have the mic of the Q2. That being said, I am very happy with this purchase and glsd to have a guitar that's made in North America as opposed to China or Indonesia. Seagull really sets the bar for price/quality.
