I bought this guitar for my son for Christmas, and I've used it at a few rehearsals and gigs for something different. The humbuckers are adequate, and it's nice to have dual volume knobs to dial the guitar in for rhythm and lead. But I agree with many of the other reviewers here in that the guitar is friggin' uncomfortable. The strap knobs are in the wrong place, and the resulting imbalance is both annoying and distracting. Plus, the guitar came out of the box missing the pickup selector knob. But it was still inspected and approved by #14. If you're looking for an honest, affordable guitar, buy an Epiphone. But if you want something a bit more unique (or you're a Kiss fan) this ain't a bad buy.

ive had this guitar for 2 years or probably less than that i dont think its been out that long but anyways ive had it for a while and i have to say its pretty nice. the action is great, its very easy to palm mute and the separate volume knobs are tight... the problems are definatly the strap knobs it makes if very diffacult to play so i have to sit down to play anything fast. umm oh yes the input nut always falls off which is REALLY annoying because its very diffacult for me to find another one if i lost it some where besides my house. but i would still say this guitar is a great i prefer playing it over my friends guitars that are worth way more and supposed to be better.

Sweet Guitar!

By Anonymous

Fantastic guitar for the buck! Nice warm sound, and nice feel. Nice feel that is until you use your shoulder strap. The only thing wrong with this axe is when you where it with a shoulder strap it's VERY off balanced which makes playing a bit tricky. However, like anything else you will adjust and you do get used to it. Not so sure it would be a good guitar for a beginner do to the balance thing but it sure makes it affordable.

A Piece of KISStory

I bought this guitar sometime ago and I've been rockin' with it ever since. It sounds great, it's action is right on the money and playing through a Marshall with it is a rock and roll dream. You can't help but to be impressed with the Sovereign. It could well be on it's way to securing its place in rock and roll KISStory.

Nice guitar

By NinjaESP

from Richmond, KY

Just came in a few days ago. Really nice guitar, especially for the price. Bought it as a collectors item, but I played it for about 2 or 3 hours straight, it's a great guitar, can't seem to find anything I don't like about it, and the glittering finish is a cool addon you can't see in the picture. Recommended you buy this, especially for the price it's at.

overall i do not actually play guitar but i did have my mind set on a cheaper version of a KAY with a hardshell case for $$. after seeing this guitar, i had a change of heart and mind that i am gonna buy this guitar. good thing i did hell i didn't expect other features tht came along with it. it is over a dammned good guitar sounds professional and i am glad i went with my gut intuition.

Don't mind the complainers

By BTN

This is an great, excellent guitar, with great aesthetics. It feels great, sounds great, the price is grrreat ($99 i bought), Tony the Tiger would be proud. What I've noticed from people giving this guitar bad reviews is that they're giving the product bad reviews because of unfortunate events that's happened ONLY TO THEM, because of hardware defects, sleepy inspectors, etc. and not because of the fundamentals of the guitar itself!

magnificent

By Marbles

from Blackfoot, ID

this is an absolutely beautiful guitar. i've had it for almost 3 weeks now and i love playing it, it sounds great and stays in tune great. this the first electric i've ever owned and right now i'm very happy with what i've gotten, i don't think you could get a better guitar for this price, definitley worth more than you pay for. though i find one flaw, it's just a tad on the heavy side, especially in the fret board, but once you get down playing with a heavy guitar once you pick up a light one, i'm sure youll just be awesome at playing it.

this is a cool guitar

By Anonymous

This is the best guitar i've ever had! It's a little heavy, but it still rocks. and it looks cool. It is also better than it looks on the internet or the magazine. You really need to get this guitar. The paint job on the guitar is really nice too. It has a slightly sparkly black finish. It plays really nice and has a nice pickguard and volume and tone controls. This is worth as much as a Gibson but just a cheaper Price. BUY IT!

Finally got one!

I have seen these around for a long time but I finally got around to getting one. About 10 years ago I had a Ibanez Iceman PS-10 that I regrettably traded at a guitar show for a much lesser guitar. I am really glad to have another Paul stanley signature guitar. The chrome pickups and the autograph/star plate are my favorite feature. It sounds great and the reach on the upper fret register is excellent for those dual harmony leads. I have the Sovereign Special version, but anyone who has the Pro version has themselves a real sweet guitar!

Just got it, nice guitar overall. Just moved the strap button(neck position)to where the neck screws. Now balance problems are all gone and guitar rests with no hands like it should. Great action, lowered it without a problem. Pickups are pretty beefy. Kudo's to all for this one. Money well spent.

A nice guitar.

I have had this guitar for about a year and when I first got it, it was very hard to get used to going from a strat to this. the strap knobs are very strange and if you let go of the neck it slants down very far. What I like about this guitar the most is the neck. It is very fast and easy to get to places. I personally think it more comfortable than a Gibson. I also really like the pickups. Another thing I like about it is you can choose the volume for the neck and bridge seperately, so you can have the rythm a little quieter then you play a solo and just switch the toggle to lead and its full blast and very nice sounding. A good intermediate guitar

It is Special

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I picked this Axe up last Christmas to put on display with my KISS collection. It was on sale and I tell you nothing can touch this guitar in this price range. Plays and sounds like an instrument closer to $1,000. It's much more than a "display" guitar. It sounds nearly as good as my Les Paul and stays in tune a little better. My Ibanez S540 even gets some time off because I'm playing this one so much. The bottome line, BEST money I've ever spent and worth much more than the price!

The guitar

I got a bunch of these cause I need guitars. That's the only reason why. I need cheap ones to play and then smash cause I'm going on tour and don't have enough money for anything else. But overall it's a good guitar. I suggest it.

Great guitar.

By DarkTyrynt

from Kennesaw, GA

I've owned my Sovereign for a year now, and I've loved every minute of it. The sound is great, and the guitar is still in great physical condition. Only problems I've ever had were the humbuckers coming loose and the plug for my cord coming loose as well. In summary, this is a great guitar for anyone, beginners included.

Sovereign Special

By Goply

from Missoula, MT

See all my reviews

I just unpacked my Sovereign about an hour ago, the guitar itself I have no problems with it plays great, this is my first electric but I'm lovin it, I have something I can finger tap on now =), my only complaint is that there was a piece of wood chipped off the sharper of the 2 points on the side of the head, it was in the box so I just superglued it back on, you cant tell unless you look really close, as far as other problems I havent noticed any it plays great, nothing im going to fuss over, if it was the Sovereign Pro or anything over $99 i would be sending it back though...

Great guitar for a little price

I love her sound and design. It's a great guitar for rock universe. It's not a gibson but it's better than a studio or special LP or Eeconomic epiphone. BUY IT !!!

I take back everything I said about this guitar.

By TenguJedi

from Kingston PA

Once things warmed up temp wise where I live I noticed some fret buzz, I went to adjust the truss rod and it was loose inside the neck..useless! I sent it back to the manufacturer and they sent me a new one. This one I took to a professional to set-up. Frets were uneven, would have to have the neck redone and frets reset, nut was set way too high, and the neck humbucker was set in unevenly, turns out the hole was never dilled out right and it would all have to be redone.. needless to say not worth it for a $200 guitar! I traded it for a better guitar. Be warned the quality on these is just bad!
