Been playing for some time now and for the price I was pretty impressed.
Like the feel and balance but one problem I have a USA made Carvin from the 70's with HH pickups. And a Fender Jassmaster HH both have unique sound but are HH. Of the 3 the best quality was the Jassmaster made in Mexico (the craftsmanship superb). Its out put seems to be lower gain yet full of rich sounds. The Carvin is a 24 fret solid neck Classic. I modified it years ago and installed a tremolo.
Back to the Bullet for the price I was not afraid to make changes to it do to the price beyond reasonable if you catch it on sale. If you look around you can find preloaded pick ups for this model in just about any configuration. (web) The place of origin was Korea a beautiful brown pick guard preloaded with HSS, removed the original HH by removing the small screws holding the pick guard and the whole assembly lifted right out. To my amazement the guitar was already set up for any configuration. Did not have to cut wood to make it fit just unsoldered the HH and dropped in the HSS. Now I have a custom Bullet with a very amazing one of kind sound with tones and harmonics that rival the high end models. I had to make a few adjustments to get the best gain without buzz but there are plenty of how to videos about guitar setups and maintenance. If you have a little know now this is a quick and easily mod to accomplish and a great entry level instrument. Play On.....

For the price I couldn't resist. This guitar takes a lot of work to get the best sound out of it but well worth the effort for the price.

When I first received this guitar I tried to put 0.11's on it that was a no go because the nut is just not meant for it. I then went to extra lights I got the action down pretty low but the Low E keeps getting caught up in the nut and I have to stretch the string every time I tune it. Going to put a new nut on it soon.

The machine heads are the worst I've ever used there just horrible I would recommend replacing them immediately.

For a beginner this guitar is great if you want more of a professional use out of it expect hours of work. It took me about 5hrs to get it setup on 09's @440. I recently joined a band and there album was recorded at @415 so I had to resetup the entire guitar and the action is very high it's not that big of deal cause I'm the rhythm but if I was Lead I'd be screwed.

Overall like I said before for the money it's a great guitar and I highly recommend it to beginners and pros. It is also a great experiment guitar if you've never done a setup or replaced parts such as your nut, machine heads, bridge this is the guitar to learn on.

and if your a old rocker you may find you like saving your shoulder
I love the sound of theese humbuckers ,I dont care where there made ,I'm getting great tone
out of them clean and dirty! runnin it through a CUSTOM QUAD 100 watt yeaa baby it's worth getting excited over a strat different in it's own right with the beautiful warm tones im getting.
im so impressed with it that I didnt hesatate to order a squire deluxe hotrail to add to my squire
collection right after buying this ! you can mod theese things out with anything that fits strats
whats not to love ,people got it in there head that these are cheap , dont listen try it yourself and listen for yourself! ,I would love to see Dave Murry hook one up to his amps and raise the roof of some stadium becouse I beleave this guitar could do it ! WITHOUT THE DIMARZIOS.

Really Great Inexpensive Guitar

Comments about Squier Bullet HH Stratocaster Electric Guitar with Tremolo:

I am extremely pleased with this instrument in every aspect and, I am very particular about my gear. If it doesn't give me what I want it's GONE! I am quite sure that I will have this guitar for a long while, I absolutely love the 2 tone sunburst finish with black white laminate pickguard. I have been musician for over 40 yrs. and I can definately tell you that it's not the guitar that makes the musician it's the musician that knows how to play and makes the guitar do what he or she wants. I would definately purchase another Squier instrument and, I would definately reccommend this guitar to anyone looking to purchase a guitar.
The double humbuckers is what got my attention, On a Strat? Got to check this one out. At one time I had a Bullet Special with one humbucker and, It kicked butt but, it really didn't fit my style of music so when I saw this one with one more humbucker and, more tone options plus a trem it was what I missed in the Special and, I was definately right. The guitar I have is just exactly like this one but in a 2 tone sunburst it was described as an FSR which means factory special run. This instrument still retains the Strat sound but just a little thicker and darker with the humbuckers but, using the bridge humbucker it will definately wail! I have an American Strat with the single coils and, I was looking for something a little different and I have certainly found it.
I rated this guitar under 10 just mainly because obviously for the $ it's just not quite as fancy as the high dollar strats but, I can assure you it is not a super cheapie piece of junk like you'll find at Walmart or stores like this. I was very impressed with looks, fit, and, sound of this instrument. I own several high quality guitars that I paid at least 5 to 7 times the amount that I paid for this one and, it will hang right in there with any of them. I had to do very little setup on this guitar, the neck was straight, I lowered the action to suit my playing style, checked the intonation, it was spot on good, tuned the strings to pitch and stretched them 3 times and retuned them. Into my amp and gave it a good 1hr. workout. I bent and stretched notes all over the neck and, it held tune perefectly! Several years ago I wouldn't have considered purchasing a Squier but, about a year ago I came across a Squier Tele Vintage modified SSH and, I was blown away with quality and, sound of that instrument. I am a changed man.
For the money this guitar is Fantastic!

Comments about Squier Bullet HH Stratocaster Electric Guitar with Tremolo:

Overall, I'm having fun with it. It plays just fine for my needs and ability. I can hardly come up with time to play with a job, wife an kids so this guitar was the right price for the occasional play.
Quality is fine. Don't expect a hand crafted master piece. For the price it's definitely good for beginners or a cheap knock around.
Can't beat the price.

Warning: This Bullet Is Lethal

Comments about Squier Bullet HH Stratocaster Electric Guitar with Tremolo:

Bought my first Squire in 1986 and it was love from the first pluck and I soon found them easier to replace if broken by careless handlers. Set up correctly, they will play as well as any higher-priced guitar, and they are the lightest, most comfortable guitar I have ever used on stage. I bought this 'Bullet' a few months ago with intentions to change the pick-up in order to copy Kirk Hammet in our Metallica covers. Didn't have to change anything. Set it up, cranked it up, and carried it on stage that night. Out-Of-Box this dark witch will screech or squeel.

Comments about Squier Bullet HH Stratocaster Electric Guitar with Tremolo:

Lately low on the dough to buy a new guitar, but needing one for practicing, writing and recording, I took a chance on the Squier Bullet (Strat-style) guitar. Since I had previously owned a Squier Strat, I had an idea of what to expect of the neck and body, but the dual humbuckers of this Bullet seemed like a good choice for the kind of playing I do - for which single-coils are kind of wimpy.

I'm not sure of the erogonimic differences between the Strat and the Bullet, but whatever they may be, I prefer the fit and action of the Bullet. The neck is somehow more welcoming and "faster." The guitar overall is well-balanced between the neck and the body. The humbuckers are good - of course not the best, but for this price, they sound great - with more of a "Fender" sound than a "Gibson" vibe. Since I don't use whammy bar much in playing, I can't reasonably comment on it, but the whammy bridge seems to stay in tune well in repose. Finally, the all-black of the body and hardware of the variation I ordered looks frickin' cool.

Two complaints, though not to deter the buyer:
1) The tuners are merely okay, though a player with less experience probably won't be able to tell. The ones on my guitar seem to stay in tune fairly well, after a slight struggle to get them there.
2) Typical of this line of guitars, the ends of the frets, especially those on the "fingers" side of the neck, need filing-down amd rounding-off in order to mitigate friction against fingers while playing. This takes no more than a half hour of one's time with an inexpensive thin triangular file.

The Bullet's neck has even playability, which is really noticeable while fingerpicking. My Bullet arrived with the intonation set well, and I only had to give a quarter-turn of the truss-rod adjustment to get the neck flat (and the action thereby even lower). That might reflect more on the vendor (Musician's Friend), but no matter what degree of set-up might be required upon receipt, the Squier Bullet should be a great guitar for a beginner or intermediate player, and also one at which a pro won't scoff and even might take along to gigs. Replace the tuners and humbuckers with higher-end ones, and you've got a real screamer on/in your hands.

This review might be so enthusiastic because I'd not expected such a good guitar for the money - and I give it fewer than five stars (four) because of the filing I had to do to the frets.

Comments about Squier Bullet HH Stratocaster Electric Guitar with Tremolo:

Best guitar I've purchased for the price, needed minor set up adjustments (I play .010's). Not equal to my Godin LGX (10 times the cost!) Not sure what this is made of (feels like composite plastic stuff) but who cares! Has unique sound that I was looking for. Do not like tremolo on any guitar, so after tightening the springs as far as they would go, she stays in tune. Hate volume/tone knobs not needed, glued them to full on (otherwise kept lowering during playing). Both pick-ups sound good, not a strat single coil feedback monster.

Great little light guitar after a proper setup.

By John Lutz

from WI

Comments about Squier Bullet HH Stratocaster Electric Guitar with Tremolo:

So, if you give it a proper setup, it is a nice guitar. If you know nothing and expect an American Fat strat out of the box.....not the case here
At first, I couldn't make a chord ring out in tune anywhere on the neck. Had muted notes rattles and buzzes and strange semitones. After I set the truss rod, the action and the intonation, still out of intonaion with saddle maxed back, so I then noticed the nut was cut at the wrong angle towards the headstock. After gently filing the slots on the D and B strings, I was able to move the saddles back forward to properly intonate and adjust saddles to the fretboard radius. Then I adjusted the humbuckers evenly up to spec. Then it played like a dream after that. I even ordered some locking tuners to replace the cheapos on it and eliminate them sticky string trees. Great light little rocker it is now

Good for an absolute beginner

By Ahmed Raza

from Brooklyn, NY

Comments about Squier Bullet HH Stratocaster Electric Guitar with Tremolo:

Overall a great purchase. However, if you really want to make this thing scream, upgrades are necessary and a bit setup required.
It's got a whammy bar. That's the best part about this thing.
The low e tuning knob is a bit cranky, and it feels like it's going to crack off anytime soon.
Made pretty well, although it feels a bit cheap. I'm an absolute beginner and even I knew that this thing was light as hell. But they didn't call this the Bullet for nothing.
You can't go wrong at a hundred and twenty bucks. Awesome little thing, but you do get what you pay for.

Not bad for a beginner

By Caleb Ramirez

from CG Arizona

Comments about Squier Bullet HH Stratocaster Electric Guitar with Tremolo:

This guitar isn't bad, but I would only recommend it to beginners and someone who needs a cheap, expendable instrument. I bought this guitar about two years ago from a guitar center mostly because it looked sweet with the black finish. I tried it out in the store on a Line 6 Spider III amp and it sounded pretty good. I get a kind of sharp, shallow tone with it and I mostly just needed it for experimentation. NEVER gig with this guitar, if anyone sees you, it will be hard for them to take you seriously unless you ABSOLUTELY know what you're doing. I tried playing a gig in a house party and afterwards I had like six people come up to me and ask why I use that piece of crap when I have an epiphone SG special at home. The body is extremely light and so is the neck, it feels like it will shatter into a million little peices if I drop it from three feet up on to something solid, but its actually not too bad because you can get a decent sound from it if you tune it a step or step and a half down from standard E tuning. The fingerboard is crazy flat and is a bit difficult to play on if you are used to more expensive, better quality instruments. Overall I think I would only buy it as a gift to a twelve year old or as something to play and smash but still not feel too bad about it. If you want a cheap guitar that isn't absolute complete crap, go out and get this one.

Comments about Squier Bullet HH Stratocaster Electric Guitar with Tremolo:

This is a must-have guitar. It won't kill your budget, but it will kill your audience (in a good way). Plays great, looks great, feels great, and is overall just great!! This guitar is versatile enough to handle any style. Buy it!!!!
This guitar has a very comfortable neck that fits my hand like a glove. It's nice and light, and can pump out some serious tones. The humbucking pickups and the all-black finish really make this guitar unique.
A very well-built, well-playing guitar, and at $119, it's a freaking steal!! Please note, though, that the tuning pegs can get a little crusty-feeling, so just add a little oil to them and this thing is ready for anything.
I'm amazed at how you can get all this for such a low price. A terrific value!

Squier Bullet Strat HH with tremolo. All black.

By Marc Delort

Comments about Squier Bullet HH Stratocaster Electric Guitar with Tremolo:

I found this guitar to be awesome. everything is put together perfectly, mine was setup perfectly and in tune right out of the box. I was jamming within 10 minutes of unpacking. For budget priced pickups it had wonderful sound. tremolo worked perfect and came right back in tune. This is a beautiful looking and wonderful playing guitar.
Light weight, dual humbuckers, all black body and hardware.
Nothing cheap that I have found. everything on mine was meticulously put together. I don't care much for the tuners but, they worked perfectly as did everything else.
Awesome looks, great quality, sound was excellent. I would be surprised if anyone could fine a guitar that looked and played this great for the price which was very low.

I don't allways want to use my expensive guitars to play. If you have played awhile, then you know most of the playability in a guitar is in the setup. The ability to bring this guitar into your specs is there. This is an acceptable second guitar, backup guitar, and it would make a great guitar for the new player too.

I'm an experienced (though amateur) acoustic guitarist, and bought this on impulse to try an electric guitar. I use it with a bass amp I already own and it sounds great. It is so much easier to play than I expected, and sounds great even if I just play it like I do my acoustic. Sounds decent practicing, even without the amp.

*I give it 5 stars because it's great for what it is, but IDK if it's a "great" guitar; just a really good value and perfect for my purposes.

      from Fayetteville, NC

Comments about Squier Bullet HH Stratocaster Electric Guitar with Tremolo:

This is my first electric guitar... You might as well say this is my first guitar period. The last guitar lessons had were probably about 12-13 years ago. The downsize to this product that there is no support in the box as far as instructions or at least a quick start guide. They say this is aimed for beginners and students you would think they put something in there for you. Also on the Squier website the guitar specific to this one is non existent. You have to look at the basic bullet strat for support. Overall I love it, its very unique most people have never seen the guitar. Also I love the all black finish and the sound is magnificent. I would definitely recommend this to all beginners!
Double Humbuckers, all black finish, BEAUTIFUL!
Strings are perfect, the finish is so smooth. The neck is as soft as a babys botto,. The only thing thats a con is it smudges terribly bad.
You cant beat a guitar this price. I mean a guitar from a well respected company for this price? You CANNOT beat it!

Comments about Squier Bullet HH Stratocaster Electric Guitar with Tremolo:

I have friends who play in a bar band. The bassist and guitarist both use Ibanez Gio equipment (cheap) They rock. My point is that although this is a cheap guitar, it rocks. Many others have made this point and I stand by it. This is a special version Bullet with the following features: Neck: skunk stripe, thin rosewood fingerboard with small frets, traditional strat headstock. Very playable, well-dressed frets. The frets appeared bronze-ish in color, and are thinner than the Bullet HSS which has a thicker rosewood board, no skunk stripe and medium-jumbo frets. Body: is the same thickness as an Affinity Strat; but basswood for a decent tone and weight. The HSS has a thicker basswood body like a MIM body. Pickups: the pickups appear to be generic humbuckers that are decent. The fit and finish of the entire guitar is excellent. Everything is aligned properly. The tuners are old-style Kluson-type which I did not like. They work but I can foresee replacing them. All in all, the Bullets are much better than expected. Like another reviewer stated this is a great guitar to mod, great value and is a keeper.

pick ups are not powerful but that can be compensated with a good amplifier and volume. That and too high action in the strings were the only significant cons found.
2 humbuckers and tremolo in a strat.
better that the single coil bullet and can br compared with the affinity.
At least the one I received from mf after action lowered and intonation made. Great for beginners and for guys that knows that not always the expensive guitars are the best.

        Beginner guitar only

        By JohnQPublic

        from Florida

Comments about Squier Bullet HH Stratocaster Electric Guitar with Tremolo:

I've read a lot of reviews and talk on forums praising the Squier Bullets and I just had to find out for myself. Took a trip to nearest Sam Ash and tried one out. If you've got any experience with guitars at all, simply looking at it you will notice that it appears more like a toy or beginner guitar than a serious musician's instrument. Picking one up will confirm your suspicions. Everything about it is cheap. Very very thin body, neck that feels like the fat end of a baseball bat, cheap electronics. A lot of people talk about modding these and if that's your intention do it only if you want to get experience and don't want to mess up your nice guitar. Otherwise you'll spend a ton of money replacing everything and not wind up with as good an instrument as you could buy for the same amount. Only the most unobservant total amateur, cheapskate, homeless person or completely inexperienced beginner would find this guitar acceptable. If you're shopping for your first guitar, don't know if you'll stick with it and don't want to invest much...go for it. In six months if you stick with it you'll be ready for a real guitar. If you're serious about playing, save your money for something better because this definitely will not make you a better player. If anything, it is much harder to play due to high action which can't be lowered without a lot of fret buzz or major work.

I bought one of these for the kids in my music class to play, figured they would,nt care if was not too great. Surprise, surprise, I plugged thislittle beast into a couple of different amps andcould'nt get a bad tone out of it. Seriously, how can a guitar priced at $100.00 be this good? The tuners are a bit crusty feeling but a drop of teflon lube soved that. Trem is nice and firm andthey include an extra spring if you want it stiffer. I might keep this one and get a second one for the kids.

Comments about Squier Bullet HH Stratocaster Electric Guitar with Tremolo:

The sound is incredible, the finish is excellent, but the joints in the body's guitar are a little tinny visible, but that is not a big deal, for the price and the sound this is a excellent deal. I have three different Squier models besides this one and this one is the best. I am very satisfied with this purchase. I recommend you guys to pull up the strings before tuning the guitar to keep tuned the guitar. Any guitar have those problems. I mention this here because many people complain for this issue and it is no problem by the manufacturer or model of guitar. Strings dilate or shrink, it depends of many factors. I hope this helps for those beginners, you guys must learn how to deal and set up your instruments. The sound it's not just by the instrument it's rather by the musician's abilities and knowledge of the his/her instrument.
