I have over 150 guitars in my collection, and have returned a couple of mid level Fenders that just did not do it for me.

FIRST THINGS FIRST. Leave the guitar alone! If you want to replace the tuners, get the same trapezoid tuner, or go to: http://amateurluthiery.wordpress.com/2011/09/05/replacing-the-tuners-on-a-squier%C2%AE-by-fender%C2%AE-bullet-strat%C2%AE/ and make up your mind.
What is important on a nut, is NOT what it is made from, but the string to string dimensions, the height (rise and fall), and the proper groove cuts. Bone IS NOT THE BIG ANSWER TO ALL YOUR GUITARS ILLS, and may just add to them, as bone is NOT consistent, and is hard and soft throughout (plastic is consistent). The pickups DO NOT NEED REPLACING, and deliver great punch, sustain, and string response.

I bought this low end (I thought) fender just to see what all the hubbub was about.
The rationale: If I didn't like it, I could always change out the neck and put a new loaded pickguard on it.
For an entry level priced guitar, this thing just rocks! I just picked up two more on sale from Musicians Friend, so now have 4, plus misc. necks and bodies.
The most important thing to me, is that it is made in Indonesia; why you ask, because Indonesia has been producing the best offshore guitars for the last 6 or 7 years, and in my humble opinion blows Korea out of the water on low end guitars.

First off, the tuners don't blow as bad as you are led to believe; this may change after a while, but as new tuners, they are just fine.
The neck is straight and unfinished which makes it fast. The medium frets are right on the edge of giving you some finger rash, so a little light sanding may be in order.
The strings are cheap (Duh!)
After installing the (included) extra tremolo spring (I always use 4, this way I don't have to block it), I gave the truss rod a half turn down, lowered the saddles, and corrected the pup angles (closer to high e, further from low E), and voila, other than the stock strings, and frets needing a little dressing, the guitar played just as well, or better than at least half of my mid price range guitars.
The black hardware is great; I get so tired of looking at chrome.....................
Pickups sound like they are mid range (6-8K), and come across with good punch and sustain.
The shining star on this rig, is the VERY lightweight basswood body. While it may be more dent prone, I don't usually go around banging my guitars into hard objects, and if I did, at the low price, who cares!!!

Comments about Squier Bullet HH Stratocaster Electric Guitar with Tremolo:

I bought this guitar after reading reviews and just wanted another guitar to mess around with. I was very surprised! I bought this as a blemished model and I received a guitar that I really had to look to find a scratch on it. I have many guitars ranging in all different price spectrums. This guitar is the lowest priced guitar I have ever owned. The tuners are a little stiff but it holds tune no matter how hard I play it.
It really has become one of my favorites!! I just love the sounds I get out of it and it really is fun!
I am so impressed that I am planning on buying another one......You can never have too many guitars.
Do yourself a favor and get one!

I have owned Mex, Korean Chinese and Japanese Strats and this little guitar, with proper set up plays and intonates as well as any guitar I've ever palyed. I haven't had it long enough to say it's good for recording but it is a great guitar in every aspect. I have played since 1963 and have a ton of experiences behind me to judge this beautiful instrument.

This guitar is great for the price. right out of the box and tuning, it was fun to play. the tremolo made it easy to play early 60s classics wthout the use of a wah-wah pedal. good action. The strings will be replaced in a couple of weeks to realy make the sound even better

Comments about Squier Bullet HH Stratocaster Electric Guitar with Tremolo:

I bought this as an inexpensive way to try scalloping a guitar neck. Got it on a Friday morning, dropped and adjusted the action, played it for an hour and was truly impressed. Better action and tone than an old eighties mim I spent too much money modding.
I took it to the kareoke bar I frequent that night and played it with a couple blues standards and the KJ thought it sounded better than the other instruments I'd brought in before, (They all cost 10 times more) Shared it with a couple guitar friends who were surprised as well.
That night, after closing the bar, I tore it apart and prepped the neck. Noon the next day, woke up, got a pot of coffee in me, and 8 hours later got to play my first scalloped neck guitar.
Whoo Hoo! I recommend it to anyone with the patience and skills to try it.
I was so jazzed I ordered another one that night( this one in metalic orange, first one was black) and when it arrived it was perfect out of the box. I'm leaving that neck alone.
Bottom line. The hardware is cheap, but effective, it works. Time will tell how it holds up. Tuners are stiff but they hold it in tune nicely. Another reviewer commented about the quality of instruments coming out of Indonesia and I wholeheartedly agree. The unfinished neck feels great. Fast and smooth. I only wish they had something like this, for a C-note, forty years ago when I began to play. The first guitar I got made my fingers bleed.
For this kind of money you can't go wrong.

We bought this guitar for our 13 year old grand son. When it came the guitar looked awsome flawless finish which I did not expect from an inexpensive guitar. When I tuned it the sound blew me away sounds as good as any fender I have played.

Comments about Squier Bullet HH Stratocaster Electric Guitar with Tremolo:

I bought this guitar (all black) because it was on sale at ** and I wanted a cheap guitar to jam with. I own a few more guitars since I do recording so I kinda use them to compare to this guitar. The guitar out of the box was just "OK". The tuning knobs are pretty bad, but I guess you could just oil them up to get them a little smoother. The bridge on the one I received had some rust on it which sucks because its a black colored bridge. On a positive note, the sound of the pickups are pretty awesome for the price. And I only had to do minimal adjustments to the guitar action height. Overall, you get what you pay for. I think the guitar is worth what I bought it for but I probably wouldn't pay anything more than that. I would only probably recommend this guitar for people who really just want to own one and doesn't want to shell out the money for something better. Don't get me wrong, this guitar is pretty OK, but isn't anything special.

When this 2 tone sunburst with all black harware got here I couldn't believe how much attention was paid at the warehouse to packing this guitar to totally insure it would not get damaged even if the UPS guy literally threw it out of the truck while he was driving by the house. They could have packed a nuclear warhead in this box for safe shipping. Thank you for caring for my new guitar so much. I was just amazed. And I am a pro lead guitar player for 40 years and this guitar sings clear and loud with good sustaining lead bends. One little thing. Even on expensive guitars there can be a few dead frets that need to be sanded or have a guitar tech file down evenly. In this case the first 3 frets on 3 strings. No big deal. For the cheap price I paid for his beauty I'll gladly take care of that myself. This guitar looks like an expensive Fender custom shop "one of a kind" with perfect wood grain and excellent black spay around the edges. I am so very happy with this guitar. Thank you Musicians Friend. And I swore I would never buy a mail order guitar I couldn't try in a store with my own 2 hands. But this came up on sale and I just looked at it and said to myself, "you got to be kidding". So I took a chance and when I got it in my hands I adjusted the string height and intonation and with the better sounding thicker strings it came with, 10's I believe thank you, it sounded so sweet and loud unplugged and isn't heavy, it felt perfect. Unbelievable. I've had expensive guitars in my day and glad I lived to see where I can by a great guitar for little money I can afford in my old age. Thank you, very sincerely, Fender and Musician's Friend.
