Unexpected Pleasure

To begin with, my Bullet was made in Indonesia. It is my understanding that they are now produced in China, and I have no firsthand knowledge of the Chinese made Bullets.

I was a little apprehensive about buying a Bullet. I have been experimenting with some amature guitar repair and needed a test subject that I didn't need to worry about causing any real harm to. Found the Bullet and figured it would work. I didn't expect what I got.

Aesthetically, this guitar is just beautiful. The finish is flawless. I have the Sunburst, and it is equal to any other fender sunburst finish I have ever seen; consistent coloring and nice wood grain showing through. Very pretty. The body is very light, and a little thinner than other Strat models. This, I think, is actually an advantage, as it is very comfortable to play.

It has a rosewood fret board. The rosewood slab is rather thin by comparison to other strats (Fender and Squier), but it plays nice. No blemishes or distracting features in the neck or fret board, other than the frets themselves, which I will get to in a minute.

The most amazing part of this guitar has to be the sound it makes. All of the pickups sound great. Clean it has very warm, rounded tones. They also sound good when you add a little drive to it. Other than tone it's all about output, and the stock pickups have plenty of it. My plan was to change them, right up to the point that I ran it through an amp. I think the pickups are just fine as is. Electronics are clean, no hiss or pop as adjustments are made.

There are some minor things you may want to address.

The frets have some sharp edges at the edge of the fret board. They will need to be sanded or filed to smooth them out, or they will be very uncomfortable on your hands in a very short time. Also, there are some high spots, which means the strings are set a bit higher than I like on a strat to eliminate the buzzing. A fret leveling and dressing should fix this, and allow a little lower action while eliminating the buzz.

The nut is cut too deep, and can choke the strings at the nut. The height of the cut off the fret board is fine, the strings just sit a little low in the nut. Well, ok, a lot low in the nut. This is common on lower priced guitars, and probably not something a novice would even notice. Fortunately it is something that can be easily fixed with a file, some time, and a little patience.

The tuning machine heads are very sloppy, and don't allow for easy finer tuning. For a beginner it will make getting the guitar in tune harder, and for the more experienced it's still a pain in the butt. I will say that once in tune it stays in tune.

The tremolo system is very stiff, and the tremolo arm is kind of weak. The system can probably be adjusted at the springs. I don't know if the arm is interchangeable with other squire products, but if it is I plan on changing it.

Other than those minor issues, all easy fixes, this is a great instrument.

I started out looking for something I could take apart, rebuild, and experiment on. What I got was an unexpectedly beautiful instrument that has found a permanent home in my collection.

Let me start this off by saying, For the price tag, It is what it is. I got this guitar in an HH format, With a Black Pickguard, Black Knobs ect. in the Sunburst. It's absolutely Stunning. It looks amazing. When people look at this guitar they all say "That's a Beautiful Instrument". Unfortunately, They also will then play it. The tuners are complete Trash. The Trem system is Garbage. It's completely unreliable. I would not suggest you buy this if you are gigging(don't worry i'm not that stupid). However. That is not what this guitar was built for. Bedroom Strumming. If your new to playing, The Cons I've listed you probably won't notice. If your an experienced player Particularly a Blues player where String bends and Trem use is Frequent. You will end up setting this down in Frustration. Other then the tuning problems and the Trem. It's actually not a bad guitar to play. When it does manage to maintain tuning. The pickups on a Overdrive channel are hot and Raspy. I was actually quite surprised with that. and when clean they really sing. I was also pleased that it still keeps a very "strat" sound. the neck isn't half bad at all. It's a good guitar to learn on or make a project out of. However like i said. If your Experienced, i would only suggest this small purchase to hold you over while you save your caps to buy a higher end Strat.

Comments about Squier Bullet Strat with Tremolo:

This guitar is just as good as any of the ones I use from Gibson on down. Forget all the con hipe as to each is his or her own. I changed the strings to Ball # 8 and off it went. Great action and handles well. For the price you would be a fool not to get it. I worried about all the bad hipe but found no problems.

Comments about Squier Bullet Strat with Tremolo:

    I've been playing 19 years.
On my sunburst 2010 the neck is the best part of the guitar, medium profile, satin finish, nice feel, ok frets that allow for medium action with no buzz.
The tuners, the sound, and the color-look are poor though, and I'd recommend an affinity squier instead, that has no such issues. I set up my bullet and still found it dead sounding and with an uglyish color. Eventually I sold it; maybe try one in person to see if it suits you.
I'm a picky guy and for under 200 I'd go for an affinity strat or tele or a jackson or a sterling, but no bullet, epiphone or ibanez (had them all).

Yes here you go! If you are a beginner, then i would say to you- This is a very good guitar to learn on! And it doe"s have it"s own good little way of sounding the way i would prefer, for the beginners, I don"t have to explain anything to those who have experience! Because we all still"love playing, these guitars, as well as you do! to pick up and learn new songs on! Because of the clear, sound they have to offer. There is no buzzing sound in these pickup"s! One last thing to remember is whenever, you are playing any kind of strat! Is that you do not! pull back, on the whammy bar! Just push it inward and you should get the sound you are looking for! Thank"s Clinton. Patrick.

Bought this as my first electric and I have been very happy with the purchase. The guitar is extremely light and fun to play. The only problem I've had is that it doesn't stay in tune for very long but it's not that big of a deal.

Comments about Squier Bullet Strat with Tremolo:

My Squier strat was bought used and set up by an expert. It feels, plays and looks like instruments three or four times its price. It sounds nice on any effects unit or amp I plug it into.

This is a great student or intermediate guitar. There also seems to be a lot of pro players that use them as a backup or main guitar.

At the time of this writing the Squier strat was still one of those great things in life that did not break the bank but provided so much joy.

I buy and sell guitars frequently and I still enjoy playing my Squiers.

Oh, did I forget to say you should get one?..... You should get one!

Comments about Squier Bullet Strat with Tremolo:

I got this for my son and the action and play are great for a beginner. It sounds good and has a nice low action but is high enough to prevent buzz. the frets are thicker than I personally prefer but they provide a sure foot for the inexperienced player.

The body was lighter than I expected but this could be a plus for younger players.

bought for gift to get some on started, loved the neck shape, it was thinner than my fender cool vibe. Overall it looked and felt great, shiny, straight. the pick-ups work ok for starters but they are not duncans. the one i got should be around for a while.
