I've been playing guitar 52 years and have a lot of equipment and playing experiance. The Squier Deluxe
I got is a quality instrument. I hope every Squire Deluxe is well made as mine. I'm writting this review to let potential buyers know that if your looking for a stratocator that I would say rivels any of the higher end strats out there, this is your ax. I find no flaws in mine, it is a joy to play. No issues with rough frets, buzzing or fretting out. Action and intonation is good. No flaws with consmetics, my Mettalic Pearl white in a knck out. The only thing I have done is install a new set of my favorite Earne Ball Super Slinkeys, lubricated the nut slots, string trees for tuning stability and tuned it up. The Duncan Design SC101's have a good classic fender tone but have a pesonallity all their own, IMHO---in a good way--Alnico 5 magnets. I reinterate, I'm judging the deluxe based on what's in front of me and I hope if you do buy this one you will be blessed as I was on getting a good one.

This guitar was listed as a "Scratch & dent" item. I was expecting a cosmetic blemish. What I got was a guitar with a very obvious check/split on the back of the neck along with poor sanding. The neck pocket also had a crack. There's no way this guitar should have passed quality control. I have another Squier Affinity that was made in Indonesia and the neck is way better. I was hoping this would be a step up from that guitar. Not so. I wasted fifty GW's for shipping costs both ways, for a defective guitar that should never been sold. Never again will I buy a "Scratch & Dent" special from Musician's Friend.

You'll never buy an expensive Fender Strat

Comments about Squier Deluxe Strat Electric Guitar:

Own two of them. You'll never buy an expensive Strat after playing these. Unless you're getting a Jeff Beck or Eric Clapton.

Two point fulcrum makes those six screw jobs feel like cheap guitars. Tuners are perfect.

Bought one demo and another used. Haven't spent over 200.

Now, words of advice. Ditch the pickups immediately. The wood in this guitar is going to make those expensive pickups sound better than those 1,000 Fenders. I have Super Fat Super Strat from a Super Strat. There's no way any guitar EVER made is going to sound this terrific. Don't care if you paid 5,000 or 10,000. The tone on this will put anything to shame. Too bad Fender doesn't make those pickups anymore (not the noiseless they're using today).

'57 custom pickups sound great in it too. There's lots of people who make these pickups for under 100. So find a used DAPHNE (why go white?), spend the 100 for good pickups (it's your ear and tone) and for 400 or so you've got a guitar that will make those 1,500 Fenders sound like sheets; and plays better. Something about the necks on these guitars. Like there's almost no finish compared to the massacre Fender is doing with guitars today – installing vinyl flooring plastic on them.

Lastly, if you don't know how to tune up and intonate a guitar, immediately hand this over to a tech. First thing you're going to want to do is screw down the bridge tight, check all the screws, including tuner heads, and screw every screw on it tight. I have found Fender strings sound best on it. Don't know why.

Next experiment will be flat wound strings.

Truth in posting. Second guitar, bought used, the pickups sound different from the demo (my first one) so I have left them on. Someday – and I have a drawer full of pickups. You too, right?

Comments about Squier Deluxe Strat Electric Guitar:

This is an amazing guitar. It simply sings! Do not listen to the negatives just because a string was broken or it came with some little ding, whatever. I bought a demo, so it was already setup, perfect fret work, smooth as silk. The pickups have a sweet tone but this again is very subjective. All I did to mine was change the strings to Ernie Balls 9-42. Having said that, and this only to my liking, I will be installing custom shop 54 pu's and the a diff color pick guard. But don't waste your money on mexi strats buy this, you will very happy. One more thing, whenever you get a new guitar, you have to spend time with it. Your natural hand oils will coat the neck over time and eventually it will become your own. Also the wood itself has to get used the vibration and tones being produced as well. So don't think it will become your own overnight. No, this takes time for it all to come together. This is one of the reason that a vintage guitar sounds so much better. Cheers mates!

Comments about Squier Deluxe Strat Electric Guitar:

I've been playing bass for over 30 years and have owned at least a dozen of them. I've also owned a few guitars along the way, both acoustic and electric. I say this just to give a least a little credence to my words.

Just pick up this guitar and you can feel the quality. It is heavy...at least mine is. About as much as my ash bass. The finish is perfect...not a blemish anywhere! All the moving parts are solid; tuners, volume and tone controls, and pickup switch. The neck has a wonderful smooth satin finish, and the fret board has a very hard high-gloss finish. All of which make playing it a joy. The sustain is excellent! It has a nice rich tone, like a good Strat should.

Why did I chose this guitar? Simple. It was the best feeling guitar I tried.
I checked out a hundred guitars at least over the last few months from entry level to upper end Fender's, Gibson's, Ibanez, SGR's etc. While I liked several, it wasn't until I ran across this little gem (virtually new) in a local guitar shop. The feel and heft of it just felt like quality. Playing around on it backed up my first impression. I didn't spring immediately. I did a little research and found nothing but glowing reviews. Loved the sound I heard a few YouTube videos and decided to go for it. Over the last few days playing it, I'm absolutely happy I got THIS guitar. If you want a good quality Strat and can't justify 1000, this could be your new baby. Do it!

For new guitarist just getting into playing, you should look no further. Its a Beauty, 100% I have been playing for years and Squire just keeps getting better, I started back in the eighties with a Fender Bullet and these are just as nice.

Comments about Squier Deluxe Strat Electric Guitar:

I'd had my eye on one of these for a long time. I used to own a great Japanese model Strat, but it got stolen after a gig long ago and I was jonesing to replace it. I mostly play hard rock, but love the strat look, feel, and sound. I'm also not a millionaire, so liked the price point and many reviews suggested that this played like you might expect a much more expensive guitar to. I'm in no way a price snob. Some inexpensive guitars play great and some super expensive guitars sound average and most of my gear is mid-level or below, price wise. (Nevermind and VH 1 were recorded with guitars that probably cost 100 each!) I've also had some luck with on line low-end guitars before, so I gave it a try. When it came, I spent about an hour with it and generally thought I got what I paid for, and maybe a bit more. It played pretty well - not great, but not bad, and sounded good clean and with some distortion. But, the more I played it, the more it felt just a bit off. Finally I realized that the high e-string was really close to the edge of the fretboard, making it feel akward to play notes on that string, especially while bending the note or trying to give a note some vibrato. I went to a local guitar shop to compare other strats at all price points, and sure enough, the higher end ones were balanced across the fretboard, but the cheaper ones seemed to be off. Surprising because I assumed they were all designed by the same computer, but obviously not.

I returned the guitar (MF were awesome) and at their suggestion tried one more. Unfortunately, this one was worse. The high e string was still too close to the fretboard edge, but the neck was sanded poorly and felt rough to play, and the frets were really rough and you could feel the stings catch and fight their way over them when you were bending a note. So that one went back too. (again MF were great).

So I'm a bit disappointed, but I shouldn't be. I was expecting a 1500 guitar for only 300 and that is unrealistic. It was a 300 guitar. If you are just looking for something to bang around on, this will work, but you might as well just go all the way to the low end and save yourself 150. If you are looking for something quality to practice on or gig with, this is not the guitar for you.

Beautiful guitar, great to play. Frets came sharp on the edges. You will need to have them smoothed out. You will also need to drop in some decent pick ups. The stock DD pups are weak. If you are looking for something great right out of the box, look elsewhere. If you are able to invest a little, you will have a fantastic guitar at a fraction of the price (compared to an American Strat). I had a 2001 Mexican Fat Strat, this Squier beats it by a mile.
