I bought my husband a standard Stratocaster several years ago to get him to quit playing 'air guitar', but he's left handed, so I haven't tried to play it. I decided I should just go ahead and get a little electric guitar for my fifty-three year old arthritic hands. The Squire Mini is perfect for a lady who has average to small hands, and it is as easy to play as my acoustic parlor guitars with 11 gage Silk and Steel strings.I bought it recently, used, as it was offered at a ridiculously low price. The owner had bought it for a travel guitar, but had large hands. He demonstrated it for me. I did hear a buzz or two, but when I play it, it actually sounds sweet, and no buzz.It may work better for me because my hands are smaller, or my touch lighter, but I'm sure that when I get it set up, any issues will be dealt with. I've had guitars professionally set up before, and it is a small expense that results in a better than new guitar, even when the guitar IS new.I tried to get more into guitar for years, but never got anywhere until I learned to get the right size guitar for my hands, the right strings for the guitar, and a good luthier to set it up. I now have the enthusiasm to learn more chords, and I look forward to practicing, rather than dread it.I'd encourage anyone with small hands, or who has a child who'd like to play electric guitar to try a Squire Mini. Don't buy it for a travel guitar UNTIL you've tested your hands on a small guitar. It might be just the thing for you. If not, then you can look for one of the travel guitars with full scale size, and the various small bodies, or the models that are 'headless'.It's a nice little guitar, light, easy to play, and cute as a button. Okay, I guess I just drove off all the young guys, screaming they don't want to have anything to do with Squire Mini's, 'cause an old lady says they're CUTE! Feel free to edit that out!

I bought this guitar as my first electric guitar when I was about 12. I bought it because it was cheap. but if you are a beginner buying a guitar. Save some more money and get a something else. A good beginner guitar that you could buy is any epiphone and they have a lot of cheap guitars that are decent for beginners. The first week that I had this guitar it went to hell. It wouldnt stay in tune, the neck began to bow, and every time I would fix it it would just bend back. Also, the pickups couldnt get any worse. All that would come out was static. It would take about a week to tune it and in 5 min. it was back out of tune. I still have the guitar but its got dents all over from me getting mad at it and bouncing it off the floor. I would not get this guitar!!! I highly recommend saving some more money and buying something worth your money.

Comments about Squier Mini Strat Electric Guitar:

We were looking for a light weight guitar for our 7 year old son. We had looked at few others, but they were to heavy for our son to handle. We purchased this one based on the reviews and hope that it stand the test of time in quality. It arrived a little over a week ago, so we have not had it long enough to really evaluate it when it comes to staying in tune. It looks solid and best of all our son loves it!

Unbolted the neck, put it in my luggage, and it kept me playing guitar while I studied abroad. Good action, little buzz, but fret ends were sharp so I had filed them down a bit. Overall I was very satisfied for the price. Very capable guitar.

Comments about Squier Mini Strat Electric Guitar:

My son wanted to learn to play guitar like his Dad, so I bought this guitar for him. I didn't expect much for the price, but come on, you should be able to tune a guitar and have it stay in tune for more than 5 seconds. Yes, it's that bad. Tried new strings. Tried adjusting the bridge. Still won't stay in tune. Intonation? Forget it. It would be a fun little guitar if it would stay in tune. I can't even recommend this for children or beginners. An overpriced novelty is all this thing is. Junk, junk, junk.

Comments about Squier Mini Strat Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar in Red as a Christmas present for my 8 year nephew. Before buying it, I considered this one and the Dean Vendetta, which is at the same price point. The Squier blows the Dean that I played (in store), out of the water. It's not even close. The quality is far superior, and it plays and sounds 10 times better. The Dean felt and played like a cheap toy, no exaggeration. A set of Ernie Ball 9's on the mini and my Line 6 Spider Jam amp and it just rocks. It also looks great and has a solid weight. Fyi, most of the issues that I've read in another reviews (fret buzz, high action and tuning problems) are resolved with a 30 minute setup that you can do yourself (youtube it!)..

Bought this for my son for Christmas. Now he can play along with me. Frets buzz on the high register so it would need to be set up if you took learning serious.

Comments about Squier Mini Strat Electric Guitar:

I bought 2 of the mini strats for my 6 year-old twin boys. I was hesitant to order because of some of the other negative reviews, but I could not be happier with these guitars! The tuning keys are smooth and easy, the action is pretty low, light and easy but with no buzz, and the overall feel of the guitars is even nicer than I was expecting. They're a blast to play, and so easy!

The only negative thing I've found so far is that the plastic pick guards had a number of scratches on them - no big deal. Of course the pickups aren't as nice as your expensive guitar, but for the price they're awesome!

Every person's experience is different, but I give the mini strats and Musician's Friend 5 stars!

Comments about Squier Mini Strat Electric Guitar:

I bought this for my grandson's birthday. He loves playing my guitars with me but he is only 4 years old and they are simply too big for him. This Squier Mini Strat is just the ticket. It came in playable condition but I still did my usual setup on it including a slight truss rod adjustment, lowered the action a little and set the intonation. Now it's a great little player and my grandson loves it! I even noodle with it and find it fun too. This is a real guitar and not a toy and the quality is much better than you would expect for a guitar in this price range.
