The limited edition Squier standard strat, with its alder body, sounds just like a Fender strat. The fit and finish on mine was great. This seems like a really solid, well built instrument. The strings that came on this guitar were very light and buzzed on the frets when played hard; however, the sound through an amp was really good. I switched the strings to 10s and the buzzing went away. The intonation is also very good for a guitar in this price range. A few minor adjustments at the bridge was all that was required. I have also not had any problems with it staying in tune. I would steer clear of this guitar if you want to play any kind of metal, because the single coil pick-ups sound horrible compared to humbuckers when using high gain, but for most other genres, this instrument should be useful. This is a great value if you like the strat sound.

I have the black and silver finish Squier Standard Strat Limited Edition. While it looks pretty, the sound is NOT. I got this for my 16th birthday three years ago. Once you plug it it, it buzzes like crazy. I actually prefer my first guitar (a cheap yamaha) over this one. The only good thing about it is it's pretty easy to play. You don't have to press down too hard on the strings. After owning it for 2 years i had to get it fixed because wires on the inside came apart. Cheap made, low quality, ugly tones, and the worst of all...the huge amounts of buzz. DON'T BUY.

worst guitar

By musicman3000-eqe_8

I am not impressed at all with squier. I have a marshall amp and when the squier is pluged in it still sounds horrible. There is always fret buz and it cannot be tuned right. If you researched this you have wasted your time. I would spend more money on a fender if you like stratocasters. The only thing I like about it is that I got it for free. This is a horrible guitar.

...Not worth the money

The is the worst guitar I have ever played. My friend owns a Squier Strat and I have played it during band rehearsals or just when we're jamming. It can't keep a tune whatsoever, the strings buzz and they sound like elastics on a tissue box, and the neck literally feels like plastic!!! I have played it through my $800 dollar Traynor amp, (incredible sounding for the most part) and it couldn't even get this guitar sounding good. I currently own a Fender MIM Strat, that kicks some real a%$. Everyone that has heard it just loves it, and to be honest it sounds like a MIA. Besides it is a true Fender, not a Squier. If you want a relly great guitar thats not too pricey, my advice is to go with a Fender MIM, or if you have the money, get a MIA. Please don't waste your money on this rubbish.

Spend a little more for a real strat

By quesoso

The build quality is terrible. It's light and feels like a toy in my hands. The intonation is terrible, the pickups produce a lot of noise, the frets buzz, and the thing goes out of tune after a few strums. Anyone who wants to get slightly serious about playing guitar should look elsewhere, as the inability to play notes in tune will greatly hinder progress. Save up, spend a couple hundred more and get a true Fender Strat.

The drummer for my band let me use her brothers guitar during practice once. it was the Squire Silverburst Strat. It played great, had an awesome tone, a great weight, I loved it. Being a Squire, I was skeptical, but this guitar is amazing. the tuners are rediculously good. on a squire. wow. it plays great, its durable, sounds nice, looks great, costs nothing. cant lose.

The Most Affordable Strato

By Anonymous

This Model Stratocaster is such a good guitar for its price. I chose this guitar over a Fender Standard Tele for its great playability and sound, also its great looks. I am in a Band and this is my main guitar its great for blues and rock and pretty much whatever you want to play. The key to getting your sound is what you do to the parts you can get a smooth milky tone with this guitar by just adjusting the action and string tension. This is a great guitar and I could do it again I would get this over the Tele.

I love this guitar

I bought the black, white and silver version of this guitar when it first came out and it was my first real guitar. It's a great guitar, especially for a beginner like I was because its cheap and plays well. The action and intonation were great out of the box. The only reason why the quality is a 4 is because the tone knobs shorted out soon after I bought it, but its not that big of a deal because the volume still works perfectly. Overall, this guitar is amazing!

Plays just as good as my `95 American Strat Plus. The neck is very smooth. The thing stays in tune, sounds great at all volume levels.

I got this guitar for my cousin. I was checking the guitar out and it seemed pretty good, the neck feels like plastic through. And the whammy Bar didn't tighten up very well.

This Squier is a very good guitar for the price.

By rockisboss

This strat is a great guitar. It does make buzzy noise when first played but it does get better as you go and after you change the stings once, it sounds much better.

Surprise

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I've had the Blue & Black guitar since 2004 and it hasn't let me down. It's become my main guitar now. It sounds great too. I've had loads of musicians and soundguys come up to me after shows and compliment me on my guitar sound. They were very surprised to learn that my guitar was a Chinese Squire with STOCK pickups. So if you really want a strat for a cheaper price and are unsure about Squires, don't buy into the hype, Squire is a good brand of guitars only with cheaper hardware. If it bothers you enough you can always upgrade the hardware. Although you may want to replace the black Saddles with Graphite saddles right away, the black ones tend to bite strings in half fairly quick.

GOOD BUY

By Anonymous

This was my first electric guitar. I bought it about a year ago and play it every day. Not once has it disapointed me. Of coarse this is not the fanciest guitar around, but it seriously beats anything in its price range. BUY THIS GUITAR you will not be sorry

Do not buy

By xboxsoul

from Brunswick, GA

Fender no longer makes quality products from what I experience. The guitar was delivered brand new and the neck was not even set properly. The strings buzz incredibly bad. The guitar does not tune easily nor stay in tune well. If your looking for a cheap guitar go with a Washburn. Never buy a fender product unless your spending over 600 dollars. Learn from my mistake this guitar sucks I'd rather have a poser strat that sounds good. I am sending it back for a full refund.
