The ultra high-tech Steinberger Synapse TranScale Demon Electric Guitar is a professional-quality, full-scale, high-end guitar that's smaller and easier to carry than many travel guitars, with wicked body wings to hold it's own on any metal stage. Play the Synapse Demon guitar open and it's a baritone; roll the built-in capo up a couple of frets and it's a normal 25-1/2" guitar. Add to this Steinberger's brilliant design with features such as the tune-it-once direct-drive double-ball bridge with piezo pickup, EMG USA humbucking pickups, and graphite-reinforced neck with ultrafast phenolic fingerboard, and you've got a truly advanced and infinitely playable instrument.
This Steinberger Synapse has low-impedance EMG USA humbuckers that offer a broader bandwidth for unique and robust tone and are mounted on stabilizers that keep them from tilting.
Improved intonation from a zero fret. Unique Steinberger Combo headpiece improves balance, ease of tuning, and tuning stability while the guitar's patented Direct-Drive double-ball bridge lets you change strings in seconds then tune up once and not have to tune again until you change strings.

i got mine a few days ago at a pawn shop for alot less than what they cost on here and needless to say im floored by the features and the awsome lil extras all over this guitar it would have been a great buy even at retail price.

Perhaps I should back up a little and tell how I came to purchase this guitar. I love low tunings but I don?t get along well with thick strings or seven strings. I happened across the idea of baritone guitars which allow for low tunings using relatively light gauge strings. The 0.010s the Demon ships with actually feel like 0.09s and make shredding a breeze. The 28 5/8" scale length really lets the lows resound with authority and clarity. It definitely has something over and above 25 1/2". (Players with tiny hands might find this a little challenging on the lower frets. Fortunately, I don?t have small hands.) The guitar comes tuned to D standard, but I have mine tuned to C standard and just love it. This guitar really has combined two worlds for me: I can chug one moment and then seamlessly shift to shredding mode the next. The only thing I wish this guitar came stock with is a nice tremolo system. (Peekamoose Guitars in New York fixed that. For great custom work, check?em out!)

I?ve had this guitar for several months now and still love it to death. There are a number of things about the Steinberger Demon that make it a great guitar, particularly for metal, and so fun to play: EMGs (the 81 in the bridge definitely delivers the goods), killer neck (it?s a graphite U-channel thru-neck), fantastic phenolic fingerboard with medium jumbo frets (which I like much better than the ubiquitous gigantic jumbo frets), light weight (only 6.5 pounds), piezo equipped bridge (great for clean tones), active EQ controls that allow excellent tone shaping and blending of the EMGs and piezo bridge, double-ball strings (changing strings is such a breeze!), 40:1 tuners in the bridge that make tuning simple, precise, and stable. Basically, brilliant Steinberger engineering has produced a brilliant guitar. All at a very reasonable price.
