OVERVIEW

A gorgeous top, bolt-on construction and DiMarzio pickups.

The JP100D is based on the "Ball Family Reserve" JP6. The slightly larger body is capped with a figured, quilted maple top. This is a modern shredder's dream guitar that offers classy appointments with sleek modern styling. By popular demand, this model now comes factory-equipped with John's personal favorite: American-made DiMarzio LiquiFire and Crunch Lab pickups.

LiquiFire
A neck pickup with a flowing, singing solo tone when used with a heavily overdriven amp and a clear chord sound with a clean amp setting.

Crunch Lab
The name says it all - "crunch" is what it's all about with a big, tight sound that's neither muddy nor thin.

      Comments about Sterling by Music Man JP100D Electric Guitar:

      Great guitar all around. Very nice, fast neck that is fairly similar to a lot of Ibanez guitars. The custom pickups sound great and give a reasonably wide range of tone. The finish is amazing.

        Comments about Sterling by Music Man JP100D Electric Guitar:

        After having owned two American made Music Man JPs in the past (that I ended up selling), I was missing the JP but didn't want to pay an arm and a leg to buy another one. This model is one of the higher end Sterling models that are built in Indonesia. Overall the quality is pretty strong with a great finish, smooth neck, and the locking tuners that I have grown to love. This model has the higher end pickups featured on the American JPs and has great metal tones with a lot of sustain ideal for leads.

        Of course this is very good for soloing, which is to be expected for a JP guitar. Unfortunately it does not include a hard-shell case but it does come with a nice gig bag. My only real complaint is that the whammy bar is too lose and keeps falling out of the bridge, I will be adjusting that very soon. Other than that I am pleased and found that this model is very comparable in feel and sound to the American JPs with a much more agreeable price tag. Ideal for metal and hard rock. If you are a lead guitarist, this is a great guitar!

        Comments about Sterling by Music Man JP100D Electric Guitar:

        I read a lot of revieiws, and ws really excited about htis guitar. I was a bit disappointed though. Now this is my opinion, but its based on facts, your opiono of these facts may differ.

        The Finish= The Pacific Blue Burst is a mainly black guitar, with a tealish-blue burst on the top and the color doesnt go anywhere near the edges of the body, mine looks nothing like the stock photos. I realize its a "burst" that fades to the blakc body, but its still not much color and not like the photo. I expected a more vibrant blue like the photo, and more of the color, its pretty "dim" on my guitar. Mine was also dull, and had some light swirl marks. I dont think I got a "bad one" I think its "normal"

        The pickups= The Neck pickup is pretty amazing, its as clear as a single coil, but its fat and punchy too, I was highly imnpressed by that. And the Bridge pickup is really good. But I had an ESP with EMG's, and it belw this bridge pickup away, but its preferenace/amp type. ** I cant believe how much more the -D model is compared to buying the JP100 and buying the Dimarzio pickups and gettng them installed or do it yourself.

        The Frets= I get some fret buzz in spots, which is odd becasue the setup isnt really amazingly low. seems like it could go lower on the action. It plays good, but other reviews on JP100-D's pointed out "conservative setup" and I agree. The frets have really rough edges if your hand is on the sides of the neck you can feel them, they need filed down. Very odd

        Weight= awesome!
        Body style= awesome, slender, comfortable.

        overall is about a 8.5/10. I think its overpriced based on the -D model, it should be the price of the JP100 and include the dimazrio's in that cost
