OVERVIEW

A great starter guitar for a beginner or child.

The great acoustic guitars from the early part of the 20th century established the standards for most of the premium instruments built today. This included shapes, wood combinations, construction, and cosmetics. The truth is that they really did a fine job. The SRMD1 acoustic really embraces that simple elegance: traditional tone woods, superb craftsmanship, and professional appointments in small and traditional sized bodies. Case sold separately.

Comments about Stony River SRMD1 1/2 Size Mini Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I purchased this for my 4 year old— I wanted something nicer than the junk toy guitars but also cheap enough so I wouldn't care when he knocks it around. The construction & finish are quite nice— It seems like it will hold up to the wrath of a kid. The strings that it came with are tarnished, probably from the boat ride :) The sound is not very good, I will be replacing the strings so hopefully that will help some. Overall, for what it is & for the money I'm quite pleased.

Comments about Stony River SRMD1 1/2 Size Mini Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

Purchased this for my grandson thru Stupid Deal at a great price. When it arrived I was impressed with the initial quality of such an inexpensive guitar. String height was a little excessive but nothing that couldn't be adjusted. However, problems surfaced when tuning it up. Every fret, and I mean EVERY fret, rang 22 cents sharp. That's nearly a quarter tone. Barre chords sounded fine but open string chords (what are sometimes called the "cowboy chords") sounded awful. Exactly the chords that you would teach a novice. The fretted strings were sharp and the open strings in tune. It obviously needed expensive bridge work so I sent the thing back. What a disappointment. As usual customer service came through like the champs they are. I went with a more expensive option this time around. Will report on that when it arrives.
