Takamine

Clean, elegant look and powerful acoustic tone.

The Takamine TAN16C is a dreadnought acoustic-electric guitar that reflects the Takamine touch in full measure. The TAN16C cutaway guitar's solid spruce top is highly resonant thanks to scalloped bracing. The back is solid rosewood which gives this guitar tonal warmth. Cosmetic touches such as an abalone rosette, gold tuners with amber pearl buttons, tortoise pickguard, body binding, and a clean fretboard give the Takamine TAN16C a visual elegance that matches its brilliant acoustic tone. A Cool Tube onboard tube preamp with bass, treble, semi-parametric mid, an aux source input with blend control, and a chromatic tuner offer warm acoustic tone that's very tweakable. A wonderful-sounding dreadnought played acoustically or amplified.

Features

  • Dreadnought body style with cutaway
  • Abalone rosette
  • Solid spruce top
  • Solid rosewood back
  • Rosewood sides
  • Rosewood fingerboard

Features:

The Cooltube and electronics are sweet!

Quality:

The guitar is well built. Sounds great unplugged, stays in tune perfectly all the way, sounds wonderful through the PA system.

Value:

Good quality instrument. Compares to other guitars that cost $500 more.

Overall:

I was acoustic guitar shopping for about a year. I tried all sorts of guitars such as the Gibson Song Writter Deluxe, Taylor 414CE, and a few Martins in similar price range. Those guitars are beautifully crafted and do sound good, but they also cost more. Soundwise, the Tan16C sounded just as good if not better. I notice that a lot of these guitars rely heavily on the electronics and end up sounding thin when unplugged. This guitar cuts through and has body & warmth to it unplugged, but when you plug it in it sounds wonderful too! The cooltube lets you shape it anyway you want. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Takamine Tan16c, Beautiful Instument

Features:

I can only say that I had wanted one of these since the first time I played one. The cool tube pickup in this is fantastic. I play this without being plugged it. I play it through a fender acoustasonic and I play it through the the PA system with a LA BAGGS preamp, It sounds great through any of the above. It also plays great. I have compared many different acoustics, quite a few of which cost a lot more than this and they have nothing over this instrament.

Quality:

I can only say that I am extremely pleased with everything about this guitar.

Value:

For what you get, this is a great guitar, They could charge more for this and it would still be worth having. You can certainly spend a lot more on something else. In my eyes and ears, I have what I think is a great acoustic.

Overall:

As I said, I have a great guitar. I get so many compliments on this guitar. I use this in an acoustic band setting and I also use this in a classic rock band I am in. It is a fantastic guitar.

I had never played a solid wood guitar. This baby plays like a dream. Good quality intrument made my Gibson CE sound lame in comparison. Unbelievable tone and quality just a little hard on the pocket book. It will be my #1 from now on.. sounds better the more I play it.

Love this guitar

I bought this guitar about a year ago. I had a low end Martin made entirely out of laminate and wanted to step up to a real wood guitar. I looked at Martins, Taylors, Breedloves, and a few others. The Martins and Taylors were in the 2000-3000 price range and of course sounded great but was a little too hgigh in price for me. Then I started looking at Breedlove and it sounded pretty good too but then I stumbled across this Takamine. I played it and fell in love with it instantly. It sounded every bit as good as either the Taylor or Martin and played a lot better in my opinion. Then  with the fact it was almost half the cost it was a no brainer. I've had it for awhile now and still love it every time I pull it out of the case. I play in a rock band and a country/bluegrass/folk band and it sounds great with either. I LOVE IT!!!!

I purchased this masterpiece last June, and played it constantly. Also let some special friends perform in clubs in southern CT.. One problem arose that I never expected; a hairline crack in the finish next to the neck and body. I'm a bit worried about another KAMAN "OVATION" product going bad. I've had problems before with cracks in the finish, twisted neck. That OVATION fixed the mess is O.K. but such an inconvenience. Be careful if you decide to buy this gem; but also buy a humidifier. Good luck
