Comments about Takamine EF340SBG Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
This is a dream guitar! I have played a Takamine N-10 for almost 25 years. Obviously that was not a top of the line guitar back then, but friends of mine who play it simply love the feel and sound. I decided to invest in the EF340SBG and I am oh so glad I did. The sound, the feel is remarkable. I recently was playing a friend's $2000 Gibson Hummingbird. He was SO jealous of my old N-10 sound and feel, I'm afraid he will get suicidal if he plays THIS awesome guitar. I have not been able to play the guitar through a really good acoustic amp, but I can imagine it will sound just as killer. Everything about this guitar is first-class. The thick neck feels great and makes it a pleasure to play. The sound is so big and balanced. The classic look, sound and feel is to DIE FOR. If you are considering a Martin, Taylor, Breedlove, Guild, etc, you really should check out the professional Takamine's like the EF340SBG.

Comments about Takamine EF340SBG Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
This guitar is everything it is billed to be; well constructed, quality parts and components, pretty good factory setup and great spruce/mahogany tone. It is loud but balanced and the string spacing is suitable for strumming, flat picking or finger picking. The neck is a bit fatter, similar to a Les Paul, but I like that, because my hand fatigues less on bar chords. The only down side is the Line Driver preamp. While the Palathetic pickup is amazing and volume is even on all strings, the tone needs shaping. This is not a big deal, since you'll usually shape the tone via an external device, but I like some on board tone shaping option included with active electronics. Other than that, though, this is an amazing alternative to any Martin or Gibson. Priced a bit high for what it is, but if you can find it on sale, jump on it.
Comments about Takamine EF340SBG Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
Yes, Eureka! It has taken me years to find this guitar. It has a big round sound with high notes an angel would appreciate and craftsmanship is top of the line. The price is so incredibly low that I actually can afford to keep it even in the worst economic conditions. I have been playing guitar for decades Guilds, Fenders, Gibson, Taylor, etc. I own a Taylor DN3, a great guitar, a Larrivee Dreadnought with solid Brazilian Rosewood back and sides, which cost me four grand back in 1995, and a Takamine classical electric guitar. Five years ago I played a Martin D-28 Marquis Dreadnought at a local music store but flinched at the $4,299 price tag. What an amazing sounding guitar but just too expensive. Also, more that a year ago I purchased a Breedlove (USA) rosewood acoustic before the Two-Hippies bought Breedlove. Nice guitar but it sounded similar to my Taylor DN3. Great craftsmanship but had ringing tinny tone and a couple of small flaws. So, I sent it back to MF and continued to look for another dreadnought acoustic. I read every article on the web and Guitar Player Magazine about acoustics and had in the past, some 35 years ago, played a Gibson J-45. The specs of the J-45 were perfect for the sound I was looking for but the price made me balk. Then, I remembered seeing a picker on Blue Highway TV playing a Takamine. Oh, and Glenn Frey and Bruce Springsteen play Takamine sometimes and I absolutely love my Takamine classical electric. So, I took a big chance and ordered the Takamine EF340SBG Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric. I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS GUITAR. You cannot go wrong buying this guitar, period. Five Stars...more like 5 Super Nova Stars in my opinion.
Comments about Takamine EF340SBG Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
This review is for the very similar TF version with a Cool Tube preamp. I've been playing guitar for about a knew I needed something professional. Dollar for dollar, I haven't played anything better. My first choices were Martins and Taylors but this instrument obliterates both brands' models that are anywhere near this price range. The wood on this instrument is solid with beautiful grain. The preamp on mine is without equal. It's warm and full. The sound is balanced and shimmery and each note rings out tightly. I had some QA problems with the preamp but the warranty covered it. I believe now they all have 2nd generation electronics that worked out the kinks. Mine is a few years old. So definitely check it out. If you're hung up on the brand, just play it and see if you like it. I loved mine.
Comments about Takamine EF340SBG Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I'll be glad to write the first review on this guitar. Just recieved it yesterday. I'm still evaluating it, but so far this seems to one of the nicest guitars I've ever played. Beautiful woods throughout this guitar. Nothing cheap looking. The sound is wounderful. Very clear and balanced. I've had many top guitars over 35 years, martin, taylor, blueridge..but this guitar beats them all. I haven't tried it plugged in yet, but im sure it will be fine. So far i can't say enough about it.
