A gorgeous instrument with a Bearclaw spruce top, abalone inlays and purfling, and TP4T electronics.

The Takamine EG340DLX Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar has spectacular looks, vintage tone and amazing playability. It represents the culmination of œhigh grade tonewoods and precision inlay together at an incredible value.

Built using a hand-selected œBearclaw spruce top with stunning highly figured mahogany back and sides and the world leading Takamine TP4T pickup and preamp system, this special guitar posseses all of the sonic and visual attributes today's performers need to rule the stage.

TP4T Preamp Features
The TakamineTP4T preamp found on G-Series guitars features a gain knob, a tuner, an active shelving system EQ with bass, middle, and treble frequency slider controls, and a low battery light. The preamp is switched on by plugging a standard mono instrument cable into the endpin/strap pin jack. Unplugging the cable switches the preamplifier off. The TP4T Preamplifier is powered by a single 9 volt battery.

Gain Control: The gain knob controls the volume of the preamp. Turning this knob all the way to the left will effectively silence the preamplifier. Turning it all the way to the right will produce the maximum output.

Tuner: The tuner in the TP4T is fully chromatic. Press the tuner switch to activate it. The note being played is shown in the digital display along with either an Up or Down arrow. If an Up arrow appears the note is sharp (too high) and needs to be lowered. If a Down arrow appears the note is flat (too low) and needs to be raised. The faster the arrow flashes, the farther out of tune it is. As you bring it closer in tune the speed with which the arrow flashes will decrease. When both arrows appear and they are not flashing the note is in tune. The tuner will automatically shut off after 90 seconds. Note that once the battery drops below a certain voltage level the preamp may still function but the tuner will not. If you are still getting output from the preamp but the tuner is not functioning try changing the battery.

Bass Frequency Slider: This slider allows you to boost or cut the bass frequency
Middle Frequency Slider: This slider allows you to boost or cut the middle frequency.
Treble Frequency Slider: This slider allows you to boost or cut the treble frequency

Low Batter Light: Once the battery drops below a certain voltage the low battery light will come on indicating the need to replace the battery.

Comments about Takamine EG340DLX Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

These are beautiful! You'll find yourself looking at it sitting on the stand as much as you will be playing it. The acoustic sound quality unamplified is a bit stiff and dissappointing and I'm hoping it opens up with age, but the top is pretty thick so only time will tell. However, when you plug it into the PA or your amp you will be amazed at the sound quality and won't want to put it down. The preamp provides a pretty good range of tone control so you can get your sound dialed in just right. The neck is slightly thicker than a Martin or Taylor and feels a bit strange at first but once you get used to it it's fine. I was able to set the action very low with no fret buzz and without having to level the frets. They did, however, need polishing with #0000 steel wool to eliminated that nasty scraping sound when bending that a lot of the imports seem to have because they don't polish out the rough fret surfaces at the factory. It takes 5 minutes to do this and once done the difference in playability is remarkable. DO NOT EVER FILE YOUR FRETS! NEVER! EVER! If they need more work than polishing to make the guitar play the way you want take your guitar to a professional.
    You will love this guitar.

Comments about Takamine EG340DLX Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I figured when I ordered this guitar I wasn't getting the same quality as a $2k tak, but that being said I couldn't have imagined it would be this brilliant. Build quality great, woods used look amazing, and the shipping was top notch.
Only reasons I didn't give this guitar a 5th star is due to the fact that the strings were kinda cruddy when I took her out of the box, and the g string had some issues with the way it sat in the nut. Took it in for a setup and the string issue was a quick fix (just a little filing on the nut). With that being said, to someone who is just learning but doesn't want to outgrow their guitar before they can afford a high end Tak, Taylor, or Martin, or someone like me who needs quality on a budget this is a great guitar. And in case anyone wants to know what strings come on this guitar, the factory puts D'Addario exp16's on it. I personally like something a little lighter but they played nice even though they were dirty as hell.
