Takamine

When size matters, go for a jumbo.

Built on a jumbo design, the Takamine EG523CDX acoustic-electric guitar from the G series possesses the greatest internal air volume and delivers a sound that matches its name. The curvature of the top profile hints at the resulting tonality of this body design. The Takamine jumbo guitar's tonal spectrum is enhanced by its dynamic range. From aggressive chord comping to gentle finger passages, the jumbo responds well to the subtle, and not so subtle demands that might be made of it. The Takamine guitar's solid spruce top offers balanced tone, while the flamed maple body brings out full projection. The dovetail neck joint, rosewood bridge and fretboard, and maple neck offer plenty of sustain, and the asymmetrical neck and 1-5/8" nut width provide comfort for intricate fretboard movements.

At the heart of this Takamine guitar is an impressive electronics system, letting you amplify your sound with intuitive frequency controls. The CP-100 pickup is an innovative pickup arrangement instead of the conventional under the saddle piezo design. The Takamine guitar uses a U-shaped aluminum rail, securing the pickup and saddle for a snug fit and balanced response from the instrument, not just pressure on the strings. The Takamine TK40 preamplifier features volume control, bass, middle and treble frequency slider controls, EQ bypass, a notch filter, tuner and a mid contour switch.

The G jumbo's gold hardware, gold and amber pearl tuners, and gloss finish adds a striking touch to this already beautiful instrument.

Takamine G Jumbo EG523CDX Acoustic-Electric Guitar

Features:

This guitar came set up like an electric guitar. Easy fretting I've ever dealt with. It's so beautiful and gives a very clean sound as well deep bass, especially when plugged in !

Quality:

Very well built. The tuners are smooth and the detail work will have everyone coming to you for a closer look. Impressive.

Value:

I definitely got my moneys worth !

Overall:

If I had to nit pick, my only issue is that when I really romp on it, there is a slight rattling noise where one or two of the strings are making contact with the frets. I'll have that taken care of shortly. By far it's the best guitar I've ever owned.

I've had mine approx.3 weeks and only put it down to sleep, eat, the usual.  1st,honeyburst finish is gorgeous, 2nd, the "sound" is intoxicating.  Bold, delicate, nuanced, unforgettable.  This thing is a  sonic cannon, yet articulate and well defined when flat picking or finger style.  I traded 2 guitars for mine, a TAK EG523CD 12 and an Epi Performer...both unique and desirable but no comparison to the CDX.  At 1/4 the price of Gibson or Taylor where are they hiding the extra $2400.00 in craftsmanship, sound, and quality?  I have multiple guitars and this may be the best.  I can't afford the big boys, but I can search out bang for my buck...WOW...

I have owned 9 Takamine guitars and believe they offer more bang for the buck than most high end guitars. This is the first G-Series Tak that I have owned. It has amazing eye appeal with the honey burst finish, and the abalone around the body and sound hole really make it shine under the lights. The sound is very bright and clear. In all honesty the fit and finish look as good as that on my Sante Fe series, T series, and LTD models. I did have the electronics upgraded to the Cool Tube. This guitar has great sound whether plugged in or unplugged. I purchased this guitar with the intent of making it my main stage guitar, and it did not let me down. I highly recommend this guitar.

Great sounding guitar that improves with age. Action was pretty good out of the box but I did ajust it some. Sounds great alone or trough a PA but you will have to play with the EQ to get a good sound.

Beautiful! There is no better word to describe this instrument that does justice. This guitar has a beautiful deep tone low in the register and still rings forever in the high register. Even at the twelfth fret the notes ring without having the "Plink" effect that many A/E guitars do. If I play it unplugged or through my Peavey E208 Amp the resulting sound is still......beautiful. I normally use an Alvarez 12 and at almost every gig I am asked to play it but when I pull out the brightly colored Takamine 12 the reaction is always the same........beautiful! The finish is exceptional and the intonation is dead on. The electronics work great for my taste and the tuner is on the mark. The neck has a smooth feel and plays like a dream. For the money I don?t see how it could get any better.
