The EG511SSC guitar is crafted with a solid spruce top and sapele body, adding projection and punch. The sapele back and sides add a robust natural woody sound, with subtle bright overtones to define each note you strum. The mahogany neck produces clarity in tone and robust construction. The rosewood bridge and fretboard offer rich, lasting sustain, while the symmetrical neck shape and 1-11/16" nut width provide comfort for intricate fretboard movements.
At the heart of the Takamine EG511SSC lies an impressive and intuitive TK40 electronics system, which dials in your sound, tunes, and amplifies your guitar quickly. The Takamine TK40 is equipped with volume control, bass, middle and treble frequency slider controls, EQ bypass, a Notch Filter, Tuner, and a Mid Contour Switch. The tuner in the TK40 is fully chromatic and automatic, so you get precise tuning without fumbling with a separate tuner.

I honestly can't believe how good this guitar sounds for the price. I spent quite awhile searching for an acoustic guitar that would fit my style of playing. I eventually found this one in a local music store that's about 5 miles from my house. Can't believe I didn't find it sooner! As soon as I picked it up and played it I could tell that it had something the other guitars didn't have. (Before this guitar I was set on a Breedlove C250)
The thing I really love about this guitar is the versatility of it. I'm not sure how, but this guitar handles everything I throw at it with ease. I enjoy playing classical guitar quite a bit and it sounds real quintessential on this guitar. I also play some softer songs by a few modern rock bands like Godsmack and Seether and this Takamine suits the style well. I also play some ska-ish music (think sublime, slightly stoopid, etc) and it sounds great on this guitar. I'm really amazed at how well this guitar handles fingerpicking as well as strumming with a pick or playing fast licks. It can literally play any style of music. You should know that the highs really ring out when you strum chords though. I know some people prefer guitars where the lows overpower the highs. The highs and lows are just about even in this guitar.
Overall I'd definitely recommend this guitar. I've had it for around 2 months now I think and I like it more everytime I play it. It's held up great so far and I don't foresee any issues with it in the near future.
This guitar has everything you need in my opinion. The built in pre-amp and tuner works great. Sound's excellent when plugged in, and even better when you're playing it acoustically.
I'm giving this section an 8 because I got mine with a few cosmetic flaws on the spruce top. Just a few dents than I didn't even notice until they were pointed them out to me. Other than those cosmetic flaws the guitar was great. Feels real solid in my hands.
This guitar is a steal. I love the sound it puts out. It's incredibly balanced. You can get a nice low bass response on the lower strings but you also get a real "sparkly" and defined sound on the higher strings.
