An exceptionally well balanced and versatile instrument.
The Takamine NEX EG5403S-VFT from the G Series features a solid spruce top, flame maple back and sides, a rosewood fretboard, and a TK40 onboard preamp.
The solid spruce top has a pleasing, rounded profile that is narrow at the waist, yet broad behind the bridge creating a soundboard that offers a balanced frequency response with deep bass, clear treble, and a sweet, round midrange that projects well. The body carries the depth of a dreadnought to ensure a great level of volume.
The NEX acoustic electric has the feel of a small-bodied guitar yet yields impressive performance, and is an excellent accompaniment to the singer-songwriter, or the finger-style player.
The TK40 preamp gives you a tunable notch filter and switchable midrange contour.
- Body: NEX Cutaway

I played this guitar under the recommendation of my guitar tech. I was a little unsure at first thinking that this was just a little low end bas model. I was way off! this guitar resonates an amazing sound for such a small body. It only gets better with the preamp. This little guy absolutely roars! you just cant beat the price and the finish on this guitar is beautiful!
Rich, solid tone across the board. NEX is a very comfortable body shape - I'll never go back to a dreadnought. It has a couple small finish blems, and if you look hard, you can tell that the burst is a little off-center, but I'm about function more than form. It doesn't have the sparkle or the harmonics of a really high-end guitar, but it's a great, rugged guitar for everyday use. The onboard tuner is very accurate. It also has a notch filter that is supposed to kill feedback, but I play it life several times a week and have never had a feedback problem. I've been on the edge before, and it would have been better to have a phase reverse, but that's getting a little picky. I love the vintage feel and the always-classy Takamine preamp. Works like a charm. Awesome bang for your buck.
