I decided to share some thoughts on this model because in my humble oppinion it has a lot of potential. First though, I must say I've pretty much given up on just going into a shop pickin a guitar off the wall playin it a bit and formulating an oppinion. Here's why (from my experience) ; a lot of the time it feels as though the guitars still need to be set up (action too low or high, fret buzz) and are you all seeing as many guitars out there with coroded strings on them as I am! With Takamine and it's lower brand Jasmin as with all the other brands out there that I've tried including Martin I could pick out two guitars of the same model and one will feel and sound beautiful and the other won't. Back to the G340; my reason for rambling on is this: The particular G340 I picked up except for a pinging G string (I don't know the cause) I think sounded amazing. It had the best sustain I've ever heard from an acoustic and the bass to me was really nice, very clear and not overpowering. The action was nice and low but the fret ends had some sharp edges. So I would definately consider this guitar but absolutely make sure you can try out at least 3 of them and find the diamond in the rough.

I bought the guitar to learn on. I could have gone with a cheaper one, but I wanted quality with a good sound, to keep me interested in the process. It does sound good up untill the 8th fret, then whoa...nothing. The neck is so warped that it won't play at all past this point. I know I should take it in, but I tried myself to fix it by adjusting the truss rod, but it is so bad that I doubt anybody could do anything short of changing the entire neck. I didn't know enough to send it back, being a beginner and all. I'm not happy and looking just to replace it with something else. It's pretty, though!

This is a good guitar for begginers, but for an experienced guitarist its not the best.  Overall it has a pretty good sound.  The neck isnt the best feeling or best fitting neck I have ever played, but for the price its a pretty good guitar.

I sat down at my local shop to find a new acoustic and loved how the g340 played and felt.  But seeing that it was a takamine, I was expecting the price to be about 500 or more.  I was stunned how cheap it was and for the quality of the guitar.  I quickly picked this guitar up and have not been disappointed with it yet.  It also has a nice, full sound.  Evenly balance tone and clear.  My previous guitar looked like a toy after I got this baby!

I bought this guitar with some trepidation based solely on online testimonials but boy am I glad I took the advise of the users who recommended it. This guitar is an absolutely steal at this price. The fit and finish are not only flawless but with a high quality and attention to detail you would not expect at this price range and it looks very attractive to the eye, the pictures don't do it justice. The best part for me though is the action, the strings are low all the way down the fretboard straight out of the box and the neck is simply exquisite to play. The sound it produces is rich and full with surprising complexity, not your one-dimensional toned cheap guitar type sound. It is a bright guitar so deep bass lovers will be disappointed but it is targeted at beginners and a brighter sounding guitar is better starting out I think. Buy this guitar now and get a guitar worth at least twice the price you see here.
