Comments about Takamine G Series Mini Acoustic-Electric Gloss Guitar:

As my first qualifier, I was deciding between the Art & Lutherie Ami and the Takamine EGMINI, but circumstances being what they were, I decided to purchase the MINI. The Ami and the EGMINI are similar in both size and feel. However, there are some important differences.

The MINI comes with a standard 14 fret board, while the Ami offers a traditional 12-fret parlor fret board. The neck on this MINI is quite slender and easy to play. I prefer a slender neck, but found that on the MINI the neck at the nut is not as delicate as I would've liked. The feel is a bit similar to some Epiphone SGs I've played, insofar that the neck does not taper so much at the nut. The guitar is naturally neck heavy, but that becomes imperceptible when you put a strap on at the nut. I would not recommend anything other than a strap around the neck. The Cedar top is nice and resonant, but again comparing it to the Ami, not AS resonant - possibly because of the lacquered finish, possibly because the body is a bit smaller than the A&L's.

The passive piezoelectric pickup is a bit thin. It should be active, and as many have mentioned, should come with a tuner.

The guitar arrived with the action set very high, and the truss rod very loose. A few turns of an Allen wrench adjusted the action and the guitar plays like butter. After adjusting the neck, my 9-year-old easily played it. According to the tag the guitar comes with D'Addario EXP strings. The gauge is not specified, but feel like .012s.

Overall, the MINI is a very nice parlor guitar, but has a hard time competing with some of the better guitars in its class, and the similarly priced Ami, which is known to compete remarkably well with the more expensive guitars.

The list price for the MINI, IMHO is higher than it should be. I would also invest in better gig bag. It comes with a flimsy little bag, and its zipper-pull snapped after very few uses.

Great little guitar , I love playing it , and it has good tone .
I've got a good ear but a built in tuner would have made this guitar a
          Bit better.
          Fantastic guitar ,

Comments about Takamine G Series Mini Acoustic-Electric Gloss Guitar:

We bought this guitar for my g/f to use since she has smaller hands. It does have a very nice finish and quality tuner heads and the electric sound is ok. But don't expect it to sound like a full body guitar, it doesn't. The playability is ok too, but not great. Also, these days, any acoustic-electric that doesn't have an on board tuner seems annoying. I think it would be great for a kid's starter guitar. I think it should be priced a little lower for what you are getting, and this is coming from a die hard Takamine fan (I own 4 others).

                Takamine MINI

Comments about Takamine G Series Mini Acoustic-Electric Gloss Guitar:

I have never run into a more convienient, good sounding, faithful guitar in my years of playing. Takamine's competetor to the Baby Taylor is an outstanding mini guitar. The preamp is very simple to use with only two knobs (Gain and Tone) but still produces amazingly full sounding and earthy tones. I would reccoment this guitar to any guitarist who likes good tone out of an acoustic, great playability, and fantastic fit and finish. I could not be happier.

Comments about Takamine G Series Mini Acoustic-Electric Gloss Guitar:

I own this guitar, in the natural finish. I own 12 other guitars. Among them; Fender ('82 Strat and '85 Tele), Gibson ('62 ES330), Takamine (EG360EC), a Carvin DC135 (get one!), and several others. This is a fun little instrument plugged and unplugged. Typical Takamine quality, fit and finish. I run it through a Fender Acostasonic. Use it for lead in acoustic blues tunes, or finger style noodling around the house, patio, camp fire or traveling to Wyoming to hunt Elk.
