I have always preferred high-end instruments from Gibson, Martin and Guild. Cheap laminate guitars typically sound like muffled fiddles. This guitar sounds excellent in terms of clarity, intonation and articulation.

Other solid top, laminate back and side guitars I have owned include recording king RP06, Carvin cobalt dread, Alvarez Artist jumbo and Parlor, Johnson dread, Luna Nylon mini jumbo, and Martin DX1R.

The only other instrument that measured up to this Takamine was the Martin. This GS and the Martin are the only guitars that can hang with all-solid wood guitars in terms of sound quality.

The Tak is ugly but the satin finish is really nice, the quality top-notch, and the voice is unique and addictive. Very Martin-esque (think 000-15 knock off).

A new Martin 000-15 M is $1200. You will be 80% there minus a case if you buy this. Not as loud as an all-solid wood guitar, but it has great tone and projection none the less. I like high-end and this ax does the trick. That says a lot!!!!

I haven't played in 20 years and then it was basic electric lessons. I wanted to start playing again and wanted to have something simple I could pick up and noodle with. Granted I am a novice and don't know alot about acoustic guitars, but everyone that has heard it has commented on the nice rich sound. It has a great feel to me and I think it sounds great. For under 300 bucks I don't know how I could do better.

I just recieved my GS430S this afternoon, and I have to say that I am really amazed at the quality and sound of this instrument. The feel and tone are as good as or better than many guitars I have played that cost considerably more. The size is absolutely perfect, and the neck is really easy to play. I love the sound of larger guitars, but, at 5'5" I like the feel of a smaller instrument. This guitar offers the best of both worlds: the comfortable size and the full, rich tone are well beyond my expectations!
The quality of this guitar appears to be very good, though I have concerns about the satin finish and the likelihood that it will scratch rather easily. I have opted to have a pickup installed at a later date, which I am hoping will accurately capture the great tone of this instrument.
For the price, I am convinced that you cannot find a better value. This guitar has everything you could ask for!

Over all this is a great guitar, it sounds good, it looks good, it feels good, what more can you ask for, oh yes, you can ask for a great price!!!! well you get it with this guitar.
This guitar has a great sound. I was sold on the Taylor gs mini, but I picked up this guitar and played it, wow, it sounds great, It is in my price range, and I am satisfied.
The make of this guitar is great, it has a small neck, which i am happy with being a girl, my hands are small. it is a full size guitar, and it is made very well

Yea!!!! The Price I can finally afford in a guitar. very satisfied.

For the price of the guitar it is a great buy. I had been playing for a few years on electric so switching to acoustic was a change for me. For a starter acoustic it was perfect and would be great for anyone learning (I suggest don't get anything too cheap as a beginner guitar as it will most likely turn you off on playing). So for the money you get a lot out of it. I love the "naked" neck (no inlay) but there are dots on the top of the neck to help with finger placement. Also love the satin finish versus the gloss but be careful as it scrathes easier. My friend, not used to playing without a pick guard apparantly, left a nice little trench in the front with his pick the same week I bought it (thanks bud). Pick it up before you play to get a feel for it (try guitar center). Overall I'd recommend this solid guitar to anyone in general but definitely a good place to start!!

The GS430S is a beautifully executed instrument. The construction is precise and extremely light in weight allowing the wood to vibrate freely. The combination of Cedar top and Nato back and sides results in a sweet yet punchy tone that is a joy to listen to. I appreciate the understated aesthetics and find the thin neck and concert body shape extremely user friendly. In addition to playing it myself I am using it to teach my 11 year old son. He loves it and is staking his claim to take it from me. I experimented with many guitars that cost up to four times the price and this one matched them easily. This is a balanced great sounding guitar at a price point that will allow you to take it on a camp out or road trip without worrying about destroying your investment.

but, this is the best acoustic I've ever played, it's got the perfect feel to it. I can't stand the feel of most acoustics, I don't even enjoy playing them, they're bulky and uncomfortable, but I actually liked playing this guitar. A lot.I actually really want to get one of my own, and so do you.

I have always wanted a solid cedar top without having to break the bank. When i told my wife that i needed another guitar she acted like i was crazy. Well, when it arrived i was very impressed at the quality of this instrument. The neck had great action out of the box and the sound of the cedar was fantastic. This guitar just sings, you won't want to put it down. If i had the money i would buy another one to keep for alternative tunings, but my wife would probably kick me out of the house :)If you buy it , you will love it!! Enjoy!

I love this thing...it is light, looks astounding and sounds great! Crisp high end and a nice round bottom that blossoms. It has a nice feel to it and chords jump! I was going to buy a Yamaha FS720 but something pulled me to this and I'm glad. Cosmetically, the simple clean lines are appealing. Then you play it and realize you made the right choice. and it's dirt cheap!!!!!

I needed that -around the house/casual guitar to replace my Seagull folk-not made anymore. I played it more than any guitar I've owned- wore the frets down a lot... The finish was wearing through to the wood on the top, when I lost it in a fire. That was home base for me. It was the guitar that kept my hand in, did most of my writing on, worked on chops, relaxed with- etc...The GS430S is the closest thing I could find to replace it with. It's kind a kind of an OM/Jumbo shape that is very comfortable. The set up is great off the rack- I did tweak the truss-rod to preference, but nothing else is needed. It's not real loud, but is very balanced. The short scale with the cedar top makes it more comfortable and responsive /expressive than other spruce dreads I've owned. This guitar is a fabulous buy at the price. Quality is superb as well. The neck is attractive and well dressed-even without binding. The satin finish will probably keep this guitar looking good for a long time. I don't really care for the rosette- It's a little heavy handed. As much as I already love to play this guitar, I just look the other way. I'm sure I'll get plenty of use and enjoyment from it- I may go back and get a second!!
