Don't Think...Just Buy

By Pete Ahacich

from Florida

Comments about Takamine Nashville Series TF360SBG Dreadnought Acoustic Electric Guitar:

I can give praises for this guitar until I drop. My best advice is if you are looking for an extreme quality dreadnought that offers you tons of tone and great playability, buy this guitar. It's a no brainer. This guitar is all about pure, raw tone and if you are a session player, you will be blown away at what you can do with the tracks you put down with this guitar--direct and by mic'ing. This guitar will quickly become your go to guitar in the studio. Mine has.
In terms of materials, everything about this guitar is top notch. This guitar gives you everything you need to lay down breath taking acoustic guitar tracks and the CTP-2 preamp gives you an additional input in the event you want to add a TriAx pickup to give you even more flexibility in tone. The split bridge actually works in allowing you to play in tune no matter where you play on the neck. The neck is absolutely killer. It's vintage big! Some of you might be put off by it at first but, you will adapt quickly and the benefit is tireless playing for hours. (Believe me, it's hard to put this guitar down once you've played it for a while). It has butterbean tuners and the cosmetic appointments are modest but nonetheless quality. No bogus inlays or binding; just the basics with quality craftsmanship throughout. The Flatpicker has a AAA Sitka Spruce top, Indian Rosewood back and sides, Mahogany neck, and Ebony fingerboard. When you forst play this guitar, it is anything but what you would expect. The first thing you'll realize is the incredibly raw, and minimally compressed tone. But what is amazing about this guitar is how the nature of its sound and to the degree it changes with respect to player dynamics. This is something you'll have to experience for yourself. Yes, it is not a forgiving guitar and it forces you to play clean and tight.. After playing this guitar for a while, you will be pleasantly surprised when you go into the studio.
Excessive attention to detail and yes, I wouldn't think twice in comparing this guitar's quality against a D28 or an 814. In terms QA terms, Tak is brutally consistent from guitar to guitar and blows Martin, Taylor, and Gibson out of the water. Yes, that good. I can't name one person who has played my guitar that wasn't totally blown away by it. It's sound is well balanced, articulate, very responsive, the definition is superb.
I gave the Flatpicker's value a 10 only because I couldn't give it a 20+. This guitar is EASILY worth more than Tak's MSRP. Everything about this guitar is extraordinary. Takamine got this this one dead on! Plays great, plays in tune, the tone is absolutely as good as it can get. This guitar is grossly undervalued. As I said earlier, easily worth more than its MSRP.

Finest Gigging Dreadnought Around

By D-28Lover

from Nashville, TN

Comments about Takamine Nashville Series TF360SBG Dreadnought Acoustic Electric Guitar:

The Takamine Flatpicker series seem traditional, but they are actually quite unique. They're designed from the ground up to have that great, Pre-war Dreadnought sound. They are some of the finest acoustic instruments for flatpicking bluegrass, country, or old-timey music, and actually are responsive enough to make fine fingerstyle instruments as well. On top of that, they have the finest preamps available for acoustic guitar, (the CTP-2,) and a pickup that is still the world-standard, (the Palenthetic.) Plus you can easily add an internal mic, soundboard pickup, or my favorite, the Takamine TriAx pickup, (a modified Baggs M1,) to the guitar without any alterations. The result is a guitar that sounds as good plugged in as it does unplugged. It combines old-school craftsmanship, tone and playability with state-of-the-art electronics. For you truly old-school pickers out there, you might be more happy with the EF360SBG, which is the same guitar, but with an internally hidden preamp with no controls. You can get the same great pickup, but the only clue to its existence is the hidden endpin jack. But for any pre-war dreadnough lover who wants onboard controls and flexibility, the TF-360SBG is as good as it gets.
