Loud and forceful with a resonant solid spruce top and scalloped “X” top bracing for maximum volume.
Takamine's P5J jumbo model is loud and forceful, with a resonant solid spruce top with scalloped "X" top bracing for maximum volume, solid rosewood back with rosewood sides, and elegant ivory body binding with dark wood purfling and abalone rosette.
Built with the performer in mind, the P5J features Takamine's proprietary CT4-DX preamp system and unique Palathetic under-saddle pickup for superior amplified response. The dual-channel CT4-DX provides a 4-band EQ, two feedback-reducing notch-filter controls, a flexible dual-pickup mix control (for use when a second pickup is added), volume control and an onboard tuner.
Other performance-enhancing features include Takamine's asymmetrical neck profile - which is slightly thinner on the bass side so that it fits the natural shape of your hand, resulting in a comfortable feel and improved playability. The split bone saddle provides more accurate intonation, while bridge pin positioning optimizes the break angle to improve sustain and presence.
Premium design appointments include a rosewood fingerboard with ivory and abalone "dot-in-dot" inlays, a rosewood headcap, gold tuners with gold buttons, a natural bone nut and gloss natural finish.
Introducing the CT4-DX
The 2-channel CT4-DX offers the ultimate in preamp flexibility. Used with the Palathetic undersaddle pickup, it offers 4-band EQ (low, low mid, high mid, high) and two notch filter controls to reduce feedback.
Add a second pickup and the CT4-DX gives you independent control over both pickups, each of which will then have 2-band EQ and a notch filter control. You can also alter the mix levels of each of the pickups. Other features include volume control and onboard tuner.
• 2 channels
• 4-band EQ (low, low mid, high mid, high)
• 2 notch filters to control feedback
• Connection for second pickup source
• Mix control for use with second pickup

Comments about Takamine Pro Series 5 Jumbo Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I have had 100's of guitars over 30 years of playing & performing. THis jumbo is now my favorite. My 2008 TAN16COV has always been my best especially when I perform because of the cool tube. I play open mic's all the time and people many times will ask what guitar is that. The sound in remarkable. I will put a cool tube in the P5J soon. I am most impress about the sound. After playing the junbo for the last 2 weeks almost every day, it makes my TAN16COV sound weak. I have gotten use to this clear full well rounded sound. The deep tones and crisp mids, and the loudness. The quality is perfect too. I just love this guitar and it will be very difficult to go back to my dreadnought.
