OVERVIEW

Strong lower midrange and versatile dynamics, in a desirable acoustic-electric.

The Takamine TF740FS OM Fingerstyle Acoustic-Electric Guitar is a welcome addition for both acoustic and fingerstyle players. With a smaller length, depth and waist as compared to a dreadnought the TF740FS is a "purpose built" professional acoustic-electric guitar. Part of Takamine's Tradesman Series guitars, the TF740FS OM was conceived to provide guitarists with carefully considered elements for specific musical environments. Built with luthier-selected solid tone woods, the Takamine fingerstyle guitar reflects the highest level of commitment to the art and craft of guitar making.

The TF740FS OM Fingerstyle is built to react accurately to your particular musical style. The guitar neck's 48mm width, and cutaway design provide plenty of range and comfort for intricate movements. The end result is a beautifully crafted acoustic-electric guitar that is perfect for students and professionals alike. The look is sweet and the playing experience is pure inspiration.

The TF740FS OM guitar starts with a select cedar top, presenting balanced tone in a light appearance. The solid mahogany back and sides offer bold projection, with plenty of dynamic range. The rugged ebony fingerboard adds crisp sustain, while the compensated bridge and gold tuners keep the instrument's tuning precise. Other appointments include an abalone rosette, dot inlays, asymmetrical neck, and a gloss natural finish.

At the heart of the Takamine fingerstyle guitar is an impressive and intuitive electronics system that allows you to amplify your sound quickly and easily. Takamine's Palathetic pickup offers superior sound balance, high separation, and clear, natural sound. Takamine owes much to the unique design of this device. With six individually shielded piezo-electric transducers—one for each string—the unit is secured beneath the bridge saddle. This unique design allows the pickup to be isolated from the vibration of the body, and enables each transducer to pick up the vibration of the string directly through the bridge saddle, which limits potential feedback, even in a heavy-volume environment. The CoolTube on-board tube preamp features bass and treble tone controls, semi-parametric midrange, a second-source input and blend control, and a chromatic tuner.

Comments about Takamine TF740FS OM Legacy Series Fingerstyle Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Any serious guitarist that is looking for a steel string guitar specifically made for finger style at reasonable price, this is it.
This guitar has beat all expectations. It is ideal for finger picking. Unplugged the tone is beatutiful.
Terrific for mid and upper ranges. A lot of depth in the sustain. Great for alternative tunings.
First steel string guitar I've owned that I could finger pick endlessly all day long. Stays in tune too.
This guitar can be strummed but it was definitely made for finger style. Can't keep the thing out of my hands. Been waiting a long time for a guitar like this!
You are truly a Musicians Friend!
Thank You!
Bought the guitar sight unseen and slightly used at $1200 off the MSRP. Haven't found a flaw yet.
My first purchase from Musicians Friend and won't be my last.
