OVERVIEW

Old school finish with new school electronics for a guitar that'll provide years of fun.

Taylor's 200 Deluxe Series delivers all the essentials of a great guitar - exquisite playability, a full and articulate voice, impeccable intonation up the neck, and Taylor's top-of-the-line, professional-grade pickup - at a price that's within reach of many.

This collection strikes a sweet balance between tasteful design constraint and aesthetic variety, bringing Taylor's signature tonal clarity and playability into a stage-worthy mix of guitar options. The Deluxe moniker refers to the addition of a fully-glossed body as opposed to a glossy top with satin back and sides. In addition, all 200 Deluxe Series guitars ship in a hardshell case made by Taylor for optimal fit and protection.

Body Shape
The 214ce DLX features Taylor's original Grand Auditorium body which helped establish the Taylor acoustic sound. The popular body style makes for a versatile guitar that yields ample volume in response to light fingerpicking, and reacts to medium strumming and flatpicking with a clear, balanced sound across the tonal spectrum. If you want a great all-purpose guitar, the GA is an excellent choice.

Tonewoods
A guitar's top is the primary filter and distributor of vibrating string energy through the guitar, which means it has a huge impact on its sound. The 214ce DLX features Sitka spruce, the most prevalent guitar top wood of the modern era. It blends stiffness and elasticity in just the right proportions which translates into broad dynamic range with crisp articulation. Its layered rosewood back and sides create a sturdy and complementary platform for the vibrating string energy sent by the guitar's top. Layered wood is less susceptible to changes in temperature and humidity, making it an excellent choice for players who travel with their instruments or simply require more durability.

Electronics
Taylor's ES2 is a revolutionary pickup design that delivers the latest in Taylor’s ongoing innovation in acoustic guitar amplification. The heart of the Expression System 2 is Taylor’s patented behind-the-saddle pickup, which features three uniquely positioned and individually calibrated pickup sensors. The location of the sensors enables a more dynamic range of acoustic sound to be captured than ever before.

Together with Taylor’s custom-designed "professional audio"-grade preamp, this system produces exceptional amplified tone and responsiveness. On stage through a PA, plugged into your favorite acoustic amplifier, or direct into recording software, the Expression System 2 faithfully conveys the voice of your Taylor guitar.

The Taylor Expression System 2 operates through a proprietary 9-volt battery compartment and easy-to-use volume, bass and treble controls.

What sets Taylor Guitars apart?  Unmatched build quality, the most stable and playable necks, a vast array of tonal options, eco-conscious and ethically-sourced raw materials, and a lifetime of service and support.

I've had this Taylor on my "guitar wish list" for a few years now, and was finally able to get it. I could not believe how beautiful it was when I opened the case. I was afraid to play it for fear of smudging the gloss finish, or even scratching the body somehow. But I quickly put that fear aside as soon as I started strumming. This guitar was almost like auto tune for singers. What I thought sounded good on my other guitars, this guitar put to shame. The sound is just so smooth. It's exactly what I was looking for.

My uses for this guitar include live performances in small venues (which is just where I like to play, not saying it's best suited for those), practicing, and recording. It's great for all of that. Sounds just as good plugged in as it does when it's not.

What really sold me on the Deluxe version is the Expression System 2, and the hard shell case. The case is beautiful, and the guitar fits snugly into it. It's definitely worth the extra money for that.

I think I could talk about this guitar all day long, but until you've played it for yourself the words may seem meaningless. If you're looking at this guitar, and don't want to spend more than this, this is it.

Comments about Taylor 200 Series 214ce DLX Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've wanted a Taylor for years. Being a youth pastor, I lead worship music every week. However, i just could not afford to spend $1600+ on a guitar. I thought the 100 and 200 series were just kind of "cheap" when they first came out. However, Taylor has continued to refine them. I like the current 214ce, as it's a very nice guitar. However, the Deluxe version is better in so many ways!

First of all, I'm not big on satin finishes. The Deluxe has a gloss finish on the entire body. Only the neck is satin. Looks fantastic, and is very durable.

This guitar also has different fretboard inlays than the standard 214, which is a nice touch. The Deluxe also adds the Expression System 2 electronics that are the same electronics that are in their higher-end guitars. Sounds fantastic plugged in! Ebony fretboard is also quite smooth and nice.

Plays very well with nice, low action, zero fret buzz, and that even, singing tone that Taylors are known for. Projects VERY well unplugged, and sounds just as good plugged in.

Top it off with a nice Taylor hardshell case, and you have a great set up! Worth the extra money for the Deluxe model!

Comments about Taylor 200 Series 214ce DLX Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I am not a professional guitar player but I do like to play around and strum along to my favorite songs and this guitar is great for sitting around and doing just that plus a whole lot more. It has a nice rich color to go with its nice warm tones. The cut away makes it nice to play. The electronics are very nice and give you a lot of control over the way it sounds. Overall this is a very nice addition to my collection and will be one of my favorites for a long time. I also called in and ordered on the phone and received a killer discount.

This is a very well made instrument. Looks, feels and sounds professional. I purchased the Sunburst option and I am very happy with my choice. Color and finish is top notch. Electronics sound great. Great action and easy play-ability. Hard shell case is a great feature; keeps the guitar well protected and should ensure a long lasting lifespan for this great electric acoustic.

I got this guitar because I wanted something nice that wouldn't totally destroy the bank account. It sounds great and looks beautiful. I like the high gloss on the body for the durability and the natural texture of the neck feels wonderful. I am excited to try this plugged in, but unplugged it sound very nice for what I was wanting it for...practice practice practice. I look forward to practicing because this guitar sounds so much better than what I had and has a much easier play-ability. I would recommend this to anyone.

Taylor does not include the truss rod tool. They use the lame excuse that they don't want the owner of the guitar adjusting the truss rod. The real reason? They want to charge you more and give you less. Riduculous!

I have owned this particular model only a couple of weeks...so my comment(s) may be a little premature. However, I wish it a had a little richer sound acoustically, but overall it sounds good & through the amp it sounds very good. Hopefully this 214ce dlx will improve with age as most acoustics do!

Comments about Taylor 200 Series 214ce DLX Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've had this for 1 year now, and I can honestly say I love this acoustic. I've played it live onstage, as well as acoustic jams both mic'ed up and direct. It's just beautiful. Playability is what you'd expect from a Taylor. I've had high-end Takamine's, Ovation (garbage!), and Ibanez - this Taylor blows 'em out of the water on all levels. My only complaint is there's no onboard tuner.

Everything I thought it would be and more.Built in Mexico,I was pleasantly pleased the the quality and craftsmanship...they are building great guitars in Tacate. And the finish is top notch....the sunburst, wow, nice! The only thing you have to be careful of is if you are going to lower the action at the saddle.READ THE BOOKLET FIRST!I didn't,and It could have been a problem.Seems the pickup sensors,3 next to the saddle, are clamped with little hex screws to the saddle itself. You need to loosen them first, then re-tighten them after you put the saddle back on.No big problem. In fact, the action was just about spot on out of the box.You are not going to believe the sound, plugged or unplugged!Miles better than any guitar I've ever owned, and I own 2 Gibsons and a Martin. The classic playability of a Taylor...it will make you a better player...the clarity of the guitar is way up there...makes your playing sound so good!Great pickup system too.Get it,your going to like it!Hardshell case included.

I record my own songs. I play in a country dance band. I love folk rock music as well as other types. The 214 is a great compromise between what I can't afford, the 814, and any lesser guitar. I use an acoustic as my "working" guitar; writing, practicing, performing. I use a Telecaster for country lead work, and an Epiphany ES339 for rock type leads. The Taylor neck is so smooth and allows all kinds of bends. It makes me sound like I am a better guitarist than I am. The Taylor case is of great quality as well.

Comments about Taylor 200 Series 214ce DLX Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I just received this guitar in sunburst and I am so glad I purchased it. I have been playing my Taylor 310ce dread since I bought it in 1997. I love the guitar, but I wanted something that was a bit more articulate for finger style and leads. When the electronics finally started to go out on the 310, I decided to bite the bullet and pick up the 214ce dlx. Granted, I have not played this guitar live yet (Just received it yesterday) but plugged into my practice amp, I could tell an immediate difference. It does not have the boomy sound of the dreadnought. The individual strings are more distinguishable. And the overall tone feels like it will cut through the mix better, creating more separation from the bass player.
