Hone in on a great guitar-playing experience with the clear, balanced tone and great intonation provided by the Taylor 214ce Grand Auditorium. With its solid spruce top, layered rosewood back and sides, sapele back and ebony fretboard, it's got just the right combo of tonewoods for rock-solid sound and traditional good looks.
A Venetian cutaway makes it easier to access all frets while Taylor's ES2 pickup/preamp system helps you achieve an accurate transfer of your playing to your favorite acoustic amp. Other appointments include a tortoise pickguard, die-cast chrome tuners, a three-ring rosette, and a NuBone nut with Tusq saddle as well as Expression System 2 electronics.
Taylor's most popular and versatile body shape, the mid-size Grand Auditorium arrived in 1994 bearing refined proportions that fell between a Dreadnought and Grand Concert. While the bigger Dreadnought was traditionally considered a flatpicker' guitar and the smaller Grand Concert catered to fingerstylists, the GA was designed to deliver on both fronts. The shape produced an original acoustic voice that was big enough to handle medium-strength picking and strumming, yet with impressive balance across the tonal spectrum, especially in the midrange, producing clear, well-defined notes that suited both strumming and fingerstyle playing.
The GA' overall presence tracks well with other instruments both in a studio mix and on stage, and singer-songwriters have embraced its utility both for composing and traveling with one guitar. Many people want a single guitar that can cover a variety of styles, which is why the GA continues to be Taylor's best-selling shape. If you want a great all-purpose guitar, the multi-dimensional GA won™t let you down.
Like layered sapele, layered rosewood features an all-wood laminated construction, in this case with interior and exterior layers of beautiful Indian rosewood veneer separated by a middle core layer of poplar. Though the tonal properties of layered wood aren™t as complex as solid wood, the construction method enables us to conserve tonewood resources and offer attractive, durable instruments at a more inviting price. A solid spruce top and Taylor craftsmanship ensure a clear, balanced tonal response.
Expression System 2 Electronics
The Taylor Expression System 2 (ES2) is a revolutionary pickup design that delivers the latest in Taylor' ongoing innovation in acoustic guitar amplification. The heart of the Expression System 2 is Taylor' proprietary behind-the-saddle pickup, which features three uniquely positioned and individually calibrated pickup sensors. The location of the sensors enables a more dynamic range of acoustic sound to be captured than ever before. Together with Taylor' custom-designed œprofessional audio-grade preamp, this system produces exceptional amplified tone and responsiveness. On stage through a PA, plugged into your favorite acoustic amplifier, or direct into recording software, the Expression System 2 faithfully conveys the voice of your Taylor guitar.
A solid, versatile hybrid with tried-and-true Taylor construction and touches.

Comments about Taylor 200 Series 214ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
Amazing value for the money. This guitar sounds every bit as good as some competitors that are 3 or 4 times as expensive. The satin finish around the sides and back gives it a great feel. Neck is very comfortable to play and the cutaway gives easy access to the upper frets. I was looking into Martin's and Gibson's but ultimately went with this one instead. Play one for yourself and you will be amazed at the sound quality for a laminate sides/back constructed guitar. Huge sound when played acoustically and the Taylor proprietary electronics sound great when plugged in. Can't say enough good things about this guitar.
