OVERVIEW

A mid-size nylon string with a Sitka spruce top, rosewood back and sides, Venetian cutaway and Taylor ES-N electronics.

One of the alluring traits of a nylon-string guitar is the way its tonal character can instantly change the complexion of any song. This makes a nylon an indispensible tool for songwriting, recording and performance, letting you weave a different flavor or rhythmic texture into your music. Taylor nylons achieve the same exceptional playability as their steel-string siblings, offering a smooth crossover with a sleek profile neck, a 1-7/8-inch nut width (compared to a much wider traditional classical neck), and a slight radius (20-inch compared to 15-inch on Taylor steel-strings). With a Taylor nylon-string in your acoustic toolbox, you might be surprised by how often you end up reaching for it.

Body Shape
A Taylor original, the Grand Auditorium helped establish the Taylor acoustic sound. The popular body style makes for a versatile guitar that yields ample volume in response to light fingerpicking, and reacts to medium strumming and flatpicking with a clear, balanced sound across the tonal spectrum. If you want a great all-purpose guitar, the GA is an excellent choice.

Tone Woods
A guitar's top is the primary filter and distributor of vibrating string energy through the guitar, which means it has a huge impact on its sound. Sitka Spruce is the most prevalent guitar top wood of the modern era. It blends stiffness and elasticity in just the right proportions which translates into broad dynamic range with crisp articulation. Layered Rosewood back and sides create a sturdy and complementary platform for the vibrating string energy sent by the guitar's top. Layered wood is less succeptible to changes in temperature and humidity, making it an excellent choice for players who travel with their instruments or simply require more durability.

Electronics
The ES-N is a single-source, under-saddle transducer, but the preamp design and tone controls were customized to complement the nylon-string voice. Taylor's standard ES control knobs (Volume, Treble and Bass) enable plenty of tone-shaping and preserve the natural design aesthetic.

What sets Taylor Guitars apart? Unmatched build quality, the most stable and playable necks, a vast array of tonal options, eco-conscious and ethically-sourced raw materials, and a lifetime of service and support.

Comments about Taylor 200 Series 214ce-N Grand Auditorium Nylon String Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

My experience with this purchase was exceptional. The guitar was in great condition, will work fine. Shipping was faster than expected.

It was all good, better than good, except for no free hat of course.

Did I expect a free hat, nope.

Scratch and Dent

Comments about Taylor 200 Series 214ce-N Grand Auditorium Nylon String Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I picked this up from Musician's Friend as an open box "scratch and dent." Thus, I got it for more than 50% off. Indeed, it had scratched and dings (like someone had played the heck out of it using a quarter as a pick). Still, the guitar looked great (from five feet away), and the sound and playability are not altered. As a gigging musician I'm hard on my instruments any way, so this was no trouble. My second Taylor and highly recommended. I love how the nylon gives you that Willie Nelson tone.

Couldn't be more impressed!

Comments about Taylor 200 Series 214ce-N Grand Auditorium Nylon String Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I started playing guitar back when I was 12 years old (and boy, are my fingers tired) and it's been 31 years since my last guitar purchase.
I found I needed to replace a classical guitar that I had since 12 years old, one of many but the only nylon string guitar in my collection.
I have to say, that I've been to the Taylor Guitars factory tour and they have an awesome vibe. While I bought at the "lower end" of what they have to offer in Nylon string guitars, I have to point out that this is nothing but a great time playing it!

Comments about Taylor 200 Series 214ce-N Grand Auditorium Nylon String Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I'm very pleased with my purchase of a Taylor guitar from Musician's Friend. The first guitar I ordered had a cosmetic issue that I addressed and it was resolved very professionally and politely. I sent the guitar back and received a much more cosmetically pleasing guitar. They all sound great and are somewhat easy to play, although the narrow neck is curved and not typical of a classical guitar. I was aware of this fact before I ordered the guitar. I would recommend this model to any player who is looking for a guality nylon nylon string guitar. A gentleman named Brayden Passon was very helpful in sending a note to the distribution center to resolve my issue regarding the cosmetics. Well done, Brayden. Thanks for your help.

Comments about Taylor 200 Series 214ce-N Grand Auditorium Nylon String Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar exihibits all the quality youd expect from Taylor at an affordable price. I'll admit I was a bit skeptical about laminate for sides and back, but Taylor did a great job striking a balance of affordability and tone. Once you plug in the 214ce, you quickly forget about acoustic sacrifices made as the electronics are every bit as good as their top ofvthe line models. While the tobacco/sunburst and black models look nicer than their natural counteroarts, I personally felt the tone was better on the natural model.
