Taylor

Gorgeous appointments with the complex timbre of solid spruce and rosewood.

The Taylor 2012 814ce Rosewood/Spruce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar gives you amazingly warm, deep sound. Solid Indian rosewood back and sides sharpen the rich overtones and dark humors of the solid Sitka spruce top for a tonal palette of stunning breadth. The 2012 model brings new mother-of-pearl inlays on the bound ebony fretboard, as well as the familar abalone rosette, 5-ply purfling with maple binding, abalone peg inlays, and gold-plated Taylor tuners with gold buttons that impart luxurious visual splendor. Expression System electronics are on board for peerless stage performance.

Indian Rosewood/Sitka
Indian rosewood seems as if it was created to be on a guitar. The clarity, balance, sustain, excellent bass response, and wonderful coloration and figure are without equal. Paired with Sitka spruce, it is an unstoppable combination.

Grand Auditorium (GA)
The GA is Taylor’s most versatile and popular shape, excelling at light-touch fingerstyle to full-blown strumming. Great for mic’ing and recording, the GA’s balanced mid-range and bright tone exemplify the Taylor voice.

Expression System®
Using proprietary pickup technology developed at Taylor, the Expression System® amplifies your guitar with an unrivaled, natural live sound. Onboard tone controls provide added flavor, or set flat for an uncolored, exceptionally-clean amplified sound. It’s your tone. Amplified.

Gloss
The finish used to create this guitar's lustrous gloss top, back, and sides was developed at Taylor for maximum durability and resistance to cold-checking. This ultra violet-cured finish is also more environmentally friendly than traditional lacquer finishes. Available in natural finish.

Features:

The expression system is supprisingly simple yet functional.

Quality:

What can I say...It's a Taylor! In itself, a working piece of art.

Value:

It's a bit pricey but with Taylor you get what you pay for.

Overall:

Hands down, the best acoustic guitar I've ever played. The tone is well balanced and the neck is the most comfortable I've ever wrapped my hand around. My 814ce has venician rosewood sides and back. Not sure what difference is, if any, to indian rosewood but it sounds great. I love the maple binding as opposed to the usual plastic. Over all, this guitar is an absolute pleasure to play. Can't wait to hear what it sounds like ten years from now.
