Quality build, premiere woods, and electronics make the Taylor 214CE-G 6-string of style and strength. One strum backs everything up with great tone.

Taylor's 214ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic Guitar features a desirable gloss finish that you'll take a shine to. The Grand Auditorium was the first guitar shape designed from scratch by Bob Taylor. It was unveiled to commemorate the company's 20th Anniversary in 1994, and since then it has more than lived up to its promise. Although the Taylor GA acoustic-electric guitar has the width and depth of a dreadnought, its narrower waist gives it the appearance of a smaller instrument, adds treble "zing" across the guitar's tonal spectrum, sharpens the definition of individual notes, and also enables it to rest comfortably in the lap. Because Taylor removes mass from the width of the GA's braces, the guitar top moves faster, resulting in a snappy, bell-like tone. The Taylor GA acoustic-electric guitar is designed to be a strong fingerpicking guitar that also can handle medium strumming, and is exceptionally versatile. The cutaway feature on the Taylor guitar's body makes reaching the upper-register frets a snap, giving you comfortable access up and down the ebony fret board.

The Taylor 214ce guitar features a solid Sitka spruce top, a top-quality wood, known for its balanced tone and clarity. The Indian rosewood back and sides, another premiere wood, produces rich, booming sound, with the perfect element of projection. The 25-1/2" scale, 1-11/16" nut width, and 15" radius adds comfort for intricate movements up and down the ebony fretboard.

The NT neck joint fits into a specially cut pocket in the body of the Taylor guitar. The frets are supported equally by the neck, creating a more stable playing surface, one that is continually straight, from the bottom to the top of the neck. The mahogany neck on the 214ce acoustic-electric guitar is strong and provides added presence and clarity in the tone, and the ebony bridge and fretboard bring out lasting sustain.

At the heart of the Taylor 214ceacoustic-electric guitar lies an integrated electronics system, letting you dial in and amplify the guitar quickly and effortlessly. The electronics include bass, treble, and volume controls, for an individualized plugged-in experience. Taylor tuners keep the Grand Auditorium guitar in precise tuning and chrome hardware add an extra sleek look to this already stunning offering from Taylor. You won't believe the sound.

    Great Guitar!

    Features:

This is an excellent Taylor for the money. While, I love the feel and the slimness of the neck, the playability COULD be better. Obviously, it's not an American made Taylor and it is made for budget conscious people, which could be seen as a good thing and a bad thing. I've seen a lot of people compare it to higher end Martins and Taylors but I would say that it can't compare at all. It doesn't have the depth and bassiness as the Martins or the more expensive Taylors.

However, like I said, this guitar is wonderful for the money. The few things that I dislike about the guitar: the action calls for medium strumming. No hard strumming. Also, I put a generic brand 9v Battery in the battery carriage, and it got stuck. I had to use a pair of plyers to get the carriage out and then I put an Energizer 9v in and it fits just fine. So beware of that.

Get this guitar if you're looking to spend a fraction of the cost for a good Taylor, but if you want real quality, save up a few extra hundred dollars and get the 414ce.

features nothing special but what should be expected but a on board tuner would be nice

    Quality:

seemed to be built well but quality of finish top of body was super thin wood was easily damaged.  I have played for forty plus years and have never had this problem, i'm a guitarist not guitar beater.  I take very good of my equipment, but this guitar had damage not only to the finish but also to the wood it's self after only less than 40 minutes playing.  and also this was my second guitar the first had electronic issues dealer traded out no problems but with finish issue we sent to Taylor

    Value:

a little put out when I discovered that this name brand guitar was made in Mexico not in USA so it wasn't really worth the price.

    Overall:

Taylor did not stand behind product said it was normal wear over time but less than 40 minutes come on.  but in fact over a phone conversation the factory rep said he did not believe my story.  I said I didn't care what he believed or not that was the truth so they returned without even offering to repair at my cost.  a product is only as good as it's quality and it's maker that stands behind it.  so you be the judge .

I've owned numerous higher acoustics including Ovation, Martin, Larrivee, Epiphone, Blueridge, Seagull, etc.  I currently own a Martin D-41 Special and was looking for a nice alternative for studio recording, praise & worship,... The D-41 Special is an exceptional guitar. My experience with the Taylor is that it delivers a very balanced (less bass-dominant), "chimey", crisp notes than my Martin.  Whereas my D-41 Special is got that great percussive, but yet balanced (in comparison with a lot of other dreadnoughts), stunning overtones, rich, etc. The action of the Taylor is exceptional... can play the chords all the way to the very top fret... wow!!   The neck is very shallow in comparison to my Martin. The satin finish on the neck allows quick movements.  The intonation up the neck is spot on. It has a very characteristic Taylor sound... balanced, chimey, and crisp sounding... which lends itself well to recording.   The electronics pickup is sufficient, but I already had a Fishman Aura 16 which I used for my Martin, so I loaded in some images for the Taylor, and I would wager they sound as good or better then the Expression system used on the 314 series and higher. Some folks are bothered by the fact that it isn't a solid wood back and sides... folks do your homework.... most of the sound comes from the **soundboard** i.e. top of the guitar... I've researched and played both solid and laminate back & sides.  What's unique about this guitar is that Taylor has really voiced this thing well that it sounds fantastic!   It's well-suited for studio recording!

This guitar is the best deal you can get. I played it many times and am very impressed about the sound quality. I think it sounds better than the 314 and 414 taylor. the only down fall now is it doesnt come with a hardshell case anymore. Now it just comes with the bag. But besides that its an awsome deal.

This is the first what I would call one of the higher quality guitars I have ever purchaced. I own a Takamene acoustic electric and a Laguna 300ce acoustic electric also and there is nothing wrong with them. But I decided after playing now for 3 years I wanted to get one of the better brands like Taylor,Martin ,or Gibson. When it came down to it however I liked the Taylor the best for the money! Actually I went to a store who only sell as their high end guitars Taylors and Collins. I got great help and narrowed it down to 4 different Taylors in the Less than $1200.00 range. They had me turn around and the salesman played each of them with the same cords . He did this twice. I picked the 214ce by a narrow margin over the others. The sound is truly high quality. It is warm and has great projection. Of course it is beautiful! My 19 year old son can hardly keep his hands of it. I ordered a couple Planet Wave humidieirs from Muscians Friend. I want to take good care of it.
